$100 isn't a lot of money for some people.
It's a lot of money for one meal, especially if you can cook. But I don't really care what people waste their money on, just for me that's a no go.

Exactly, it is all relative. My wife and I do a date night at least three times a month. The bottle of wine will cost anywhere from 60 bucks to 120 bucks just by itself.....and yeah, we like to dress up and enjoy indulging ourselves. No tie for me, but definitely sports coat...maybe even with jeans and loafers.

And how much a meal cost at a nice restaurant has nothing to do with whether one can cook. I can throw down in the kitchen....and would put my skills against anyone in this thread, but that ain't shit to do with me and the wife going out for a night on the town, that includes fine dining.

I grill a very good steak, but I admit that it's hard to get a propane grill hot enough consistently...open the cover and the temp drops.
My grill is hooked up to the house. 4 burners, natural gas. Let that bitch hit 550, brush the grill with an onion, make sure the heat doesn't drop put them shits on and don't fuck with them. 2 minutes in, check the temperature, then flip. 2 more minutes pull them off. If you got a thick steak you might go 3 to 4, but usually on my grill 5 to 6 minutes is all it takes to have just a little pink in the center.

Bro, I make a peppered filet mignon pan seared, flambet with cognac and finished in a heavy cream with mushrooms that's off the chain. Side dish of 70% puree celeriac 30% mashed potatoes with a spinich/garden salad with strawberries, feta, walnuts and a homemade balsamic dressing.

I got a steak and some brats in the fridge now, but coming up on the holiday weekend, and I know I'ma be eating a buncha meat, I try to limit that.

But, I wanna try that rubbing the grill with onion.

One of my boys turned me onto letting butter melt on a steak when it's grilling...sheeeid, I steal tips from good cooks all the time.

I gotta ask, da fuq is a "fine dining experience"??? I eat to get full not so I can write about it or reminisce about how the food looked on the plate or how the waiter kissed my ass. Seems to me that the fine dining experience is just another empty hustle to make people feel exclusive and justify ridiculous phrases like "if you gotta ask, then you can't afford it".

FWIW, all stated here sounds like organized religion and tithing. Different hustle, but still, a hustle.

I guess I don't roll in some of y'all's circles..and I used to eat at fairly nice restaurants...dropping $40 on lunch at Chops or Bones, in ATL was pretty normal.

But is a minimum the thing now?

Back about 10..15 years ago, there was a restaurant way out in the burbs and they had some policy similar to that, to prevent kids from just locking down tables but not really ordering much.

This wasn't a nice restaurant by any stretch..btw. I went once and never went again. I'm opposed to someone telling me how much I gotta spend.

I go to restaurants to eat..get in and out. I ain't there to see who else is there..I ain't celeb watching...I don't wanna take pics...my girl used to wanna take a pic everywhere we went. She's finally cooled out with that. Now just on special occasions.

I've had GREAT dining experiences at the most basic spots..just be clean, good service, and make the one thing I want well.
Exactly fam.. there are plenty of good restaurants that aren’t expensive. Hell I feel the majority of restaurants in the buckhead area ain’t that good and or overpriced....

Tom Leykis put me on to the benefits of eating USDA Prime steak; said you get a better cut of meat and need to eat less of it to get full. He was right. I only eat Prime and get my steak mainly at Costco, which has a damn good Prime steak selection for a ridiculously cheaper price than a restaurant.

Let’s keep it a buck. Once you get a certain amount of bread, you not trying to be around folk that are balling out on their stimmy checks. You are paying to keep those folks out. If everyone could afford it would turn into Chuck-E-Cheese. No bueno.

I make the best steak ever medium rare. I will post pics later. Ain't nobody in this thread fucking with the types of steak I make and my shit is often better than any restaurant I have been to, fine dining establishments included. When I go to these places I actually show the manager what I do at home and tell them please don't disappoint me.

With that said I still like to get dressed and go out to a nice restaurant and a show. I appreciate the "fine dining" experience and I don't mind spending a grip on a nice meal. But given how I get down in the kitchen my expectations are super high so I end up having to go to nice places anyway.

I don't fuck with outback, chilis, applebees, longhorn, texas roadhouse, fridays or shit like that. its just a waste of money. I can do it better and cheaper at the crib.

Yes, it melts in your mouth and you have to eat rare . The ONLY seasoning you eat with it is sea salt . Nothing else. It’s meat butter. You can actually buy A5 at Costco. They fly it in from Japan it’s frozen but defrost it for a few hours prior to cooking so it’s room temperature. You can buy two nice sized steaks in a pack for $150. I put mine on the grille. None of that gas bullshit. Use charcoal and wood.
