So you're saying NON FBA a.k.a ALL BLACK FOLK deserve reparations as well?
Nope, FBA should get what's owed and the others should fight for their own reparations according to who marginalized them.

I'm saying from the angle he's coming from, he can become a tool for the opposition to use to continue to deny or continue to stall on reparations for FBA/ADOS.

As far as being an Agent, a term I really don't like to use, just used it cause it was mentioned in the earlier post, he comes off that way because he talks down on the other groups who are fighting for the same cause and plants seeds in his followers minds. It's like he wants majority of the claim for the reparations movement.

Everything he says to discredit the other groups, IE: ADOS, can and probably will be used as a weapon by the opposition.

So I really like that Stephen Hunter guy, but he and some others are trying to get FBA classified as a hate group. I don't know if he is spear heading it, but I saw the petition on his and other folks page. He said FBA was a hate group and gave the definition.

Now mind you, Tariq has said folks in congress and the DNC know who he is, that they keep tabs on him and get reports on him. At one point Luke asked how long he had been doing this, Luke thought it had been five years or so, Tariq said it was about 10 years or so. Luke basically asked him how he thought he was going to get people on board with his agenda, if he is calling them names and insulting them etc. Tariq said a lot of the language and rhetoric he uses is for online, twitter spaces etc. That when he actually meets with someone he knows the proper decorum and is professional etc.

Now I ask you, if these people are "getting reports" on him, would they not know that he called them everything but a child of God? Tariq had said he wasn't going to meet with anyone when he goes to DC. Stephen told him that they WON'T meet with him because they don't want to be affiliated with a hate group. Stephen has a point. Tariq is tarnishing his own brand. They can't take him seriously or amplify him, even if they wanted to, because of well documented hate comments and videos featuring Tariq and his followers. Tariq wants to keep his pimp persona/ street cred at the same time he wants to be a major player in influencing politics. His rhetoric is too toxic for that. He also took credit for Hillary losing. Stephen went on to say how FBA is mimicking and operating like white supremacy, but instead of white vs black, its fba vs other black cultures. After I thought about it, he's right about that, too. Just like we had "good boys/nwords" and "rowdy nwords/trouble makers" they are trying to classify folks who aren't DOAS as tethered/untethered. I still don't have the full definition of what tethered/untethered is, but tethered is apparently the rowdy n-words. The Dems are not like the GOP. They won't accept a Trump like figure who insults everyone. Tariq may be able to be used to call folks to action, but I can't see someone wanting to share a stage with him.

At one point Luke had to tell folks to stop calling each other Bitches. This one lady said she grew up on his music...lol...and basically blamed it on him. Luke...LUKE...has enough sense to know even on social media when you are trying to engage folks that name calling etc is not a productive means to do so.

I felt so sad after listening to this. The rhetoric against other black cultures is what turned me off and I am ADOS/DOAS, but they lack soooooo much self awareness in how they are perceived. Tariq and the rest will grow old and bitter talking about the system or the man held them back, or denied them what they want, not realizing they did it to themselves.
You give Tariq too much credit. He doesn't want to be a major player influencing politics. He just wants to get paid. By any means necessary.

I don't really care for Tariq, and I'm not convinced his work around FBA/reparations is coming from a pure motive vs trying to keep his listeners engaged in a topic that people can be made to feel passionate about, but after listening to that Luke space last night, I just feel sorry for him now. If he is sincere, or even if he isn't but wants to be taken seriously, he is sabotaging himself and he doesn't even see it. It was basically pointed out to him last night, and he doesn't see it. I don't think he has the wisdom or maturity to take the criticism and adjust accordingly. He is too busy being defensive. I don't think this ends well. If reparations is going to be carried across the finish line, I don't think it will be Tariq or Yvette/Tone etc who will be the ones to do it.

His followers are all over the place. Now only black folks in America are black. I saw more than one person saying something similar.

All this nonsense is just sowing division and keeping black folks across various cultures arguing so the agenda is never achieved. I never bought the line that Tariq was a paid agent, but seeing the results, he may as well be.

Calling Tariq an agent isn't that far of a reach because:
1) If he isn't get paid, he's doing the work for free.
2) He would do anything for money. Lie, switch political beliefs, flip flop, doesn't matter. He already sold out for free so why not get paid for it.

@Camille I'm not trying to mix in with you because I agree with some stuff you say, but we live in the same city and you know it's referred to as lil Somalia. You know how those of african diaspora act around here. They adopt all of our (black folks)trends styles etc. But they don't fuck with us generally. They avoid doing business with black folks and they don't participate in black local government. Most of them believe they're better than black folks and express it. I used to be food service manager at the Speedway on Broad St and James Rd there's a hookah bar owned by Somali's. Let my black ass go in there trying to "chill". Same thing at Mangos or La Labella's. Yeah right not happening. They're worse than white folks with it. They intentionally separated themselves. It's been like this since the 80's & 90's when they migrated here en mass. I may be a little bias, but SOME of the fba rhetoric holds weight from my personal experience. A lot of others reap the benefits of black folks, but don't share in our struggles and that's my issue. If that makes me sound like an agent then it is what it is. Is it wrong to make a distinction between people's that maybe look alike but don't share experiences or ideology?

I can't find the tweet I wanted. This one woman was going on about how she is fba and therefore black and others not descended from slaves in the US couldn't be black, they were Jamaican etc. and that "black" was a designation given to us etc. Then one guy asked her who gave her that designation. LOL. I didn't see a reply but I was hoping she had responded and I can't find it now.

You're overthinking it, I think you're seeing everything through the eyes of American education and basically life on a totem pole.

Tariq can be dumb as bricks it doesn't really matter, his point is "black people, what are you getting out of it?" That's basically it Camille, it's not that complex. Other groups get tangible benefits, blacks get lip service and symbolic holidays...

That's the main point, we see them throwing money at Native Americans, Ukrainians who are openly racist (Nazi) and other groups and what do we get?

Truth is everything with us in their minds is self inflicted, you need to go to school, you need to this or that... and I understand education is the fundamental building block in America but not every Jew or Asian walks around with a PHD in their back pocket a lot of them drive cabs, UBER or do whatever to make a buck. America won't tell you that, they constantly tell you how educated they are and then you that you need better parenting or to go to school.

That broadcast last night really brought home my point, people were literally arguing with Tariq on those levels, lack of education, lack of structure.. as in every Jew has structure or Asian, it's a mindset that purposely is put on blacks to keep us in a certain train of thought and it works.

Dems woke up today and now what to pass a bill to smoke weed legally while people losing homes, jobs, lack of financially security... this isn't hard

All Tariq has to do is keep making noise, regardless how idiotic he sounds his point still stands, black people... demand more for your vote.

Most you BGOL cats not trying to shake the system, you're upper income, you do well, you live well, you got wifes and kids and homes, this conversation in your eyes showing a lack of intelligence because he's not articulate enough.

I can get very deep on this, as a man who lived broke, poverty, around white folks, getting used, fired I've seen it all and what I've been through I can tell you Tariq ain't wrong, the problem is talking to people who don't have those issues those people will think he's a clown and a idiot but honestly he's 100% correct.

That's all I gotta say, you take it easy.

The division has been there for quite some time, and that is in part due to white supremacy not wanting to see black peoples unite. Our image was exported as being lazy etc. Other groups would come here and be warned about us. Kids here would tease black immigrants about their accent etc. I recall kids calling others African Booty Scratchers. The stuff of ignorance. Most people saw for themselves what was going on or grew up and grew out of the nonsense and had friendships and relationships with each other. There is nothing wrong with distinguishing our lineage, but do we have to demonize other black peoples to do it? Its like the different connotations between Black Power and White Power. When we hear Black Power, we automatically know its about black excellence and collective advancement, achievement and White Power is about prevailing via the terror and oppression of others. They are basically in the process of changing the dynamic to align more with White Power.
It's funny folk accuse FBA of talking shit bout black immigrants as if there isn't a reason why. .Bottom line is They started the shit, yall act as of FBA woke up one day and said " hey yall today we gone talk shit about black immigrants for no reason at all" Don't start none won't be none. Mufuckas come here and talk shit bout us, thought if it weren't for FBA they and other immigrants would still be suffering in their home countries

I don't agree with TN on alot of shit and dont fund his scams. But this reparations for only FBA talk I'm done with it

He also took credit for Hillary losing.
He said that in response to the question of what started off the beef between him and Roland. That was a baldface lie couched in Tariq trying to elevate his importance.

It started because about 5 years ago, Tariq made a tweet calling an East African reporter who took part in a panel discussion (I think on CNN) a NBW (Negro Bed Wench) because he disagreed with her remarks/stance. Roland Martin responded defending her against that, as she was someone Roland knew. He did not insult Tariq or call him names. He took exception to the terminology being applied to the lady.

From that simple Tweet, Tariq's sensitive ass lost his shit and started his years long anti-Roland campaign. But coward that he is, never has agreed to a meet to debate him.

I felt so sad after listening to this. The rhetoric against other black cultures is what turned me off and I am ADOS/DOAS, but they lack soooooo much self awareness in how they are perceived. But in the meantime, Tariq will continue to enrich himself with the money of his followers.

He hasn't sold out though and it's been about 12 years now since he been on this blackness wave (Hidden Colors 1 came out 2010 I think)

And he's over 50, I doubt he sells out now, regardless if Jay can sell you crack and then tell white people with money blacks have no family structure is the problem I don't see Tariq selling out.

Especially when Jay had then young hoes singing H.O.V.A in the 2000s and their kids getting locked up now:lol:I wouldn't worry about Tariq

These conversations are pointless with cats who ain't been in that place.. most yall clearly haven't.

I remember someone telling years back when I was addicted to messageboards (LOL) that most them niggas that post online ain't hood niggas, I was deep in the hood at the strip joint in Miami at that time, thinking back he was right most yall ain't from the trenches like that no offense to anyone but the more I think about it the most I see class is the main issue here.

Sabotage and agent.

I feel like he about to sabotage the whole reparations for slaves movement for each group stating their case.

He doesn't even realize he's coming off as an agent to the cause.
You immigrants have no case here to sabotage
The fuck lol

The issue about politicians not knowing what we want is BS. It's bs because The Kerner commission said that the politicians should never promise Black people anything. This was in the 60s. The DNC leak continued saying NOT to promise and do shit for Black people in 2016. So they purposefully walk around blind lol.

HR40 has been around for 30 years.
It's not a reparations bill.
Its just a study.

Yeah she said it is just a study, but my point is she wants something done the dems just don't have the numbers to do. Sinema and Manchin aren't going to be on board. It is mathematically impossible to meet her terms, but she won't help herself by voting to get more dems in so the agenda CAN happen.

He talks down to to them cause they talk down on FBA. Don't start none won't be none

He doesn't hate them but it's true they have a higher rate of education than FBA and that's the rock they usually stand on top off to bash FBA. Tariq, if he knew he could body them easily but he's not aware of it either, I don't think he knows much about classism, since he's essentially a millionaire I doubt he really cares, he got his.

I will say as a fan I think Tariq is hustling IMO, he should be talking to people at the bottom who can resonate with the message more because upper income blacks will never really get on board and that's just 100... very few will.

A nigga who gets hoes won't understand a nigga that don't, nigga that don't may he mental issues but the nigga that do won't think on that level, most people who do well just don't think on that level.

I'm kinda tired of the racial discussion with people that won't see the other side since it doesn't apply to them, more I think of it, more I see why capitalism is hated outside of America, it really brainwashes people.

Tariq can be a good socialist one day if he decides to cross over, maybe he'll give up and do that.. fits him better.

I'm not opposed to groups being cliquish and everyone the world over knows black Americans and our culture is copied. They love our culture but not us. To some extent, for protection, and to keep in place customs and their culture, some separation is necessary. Black folks in America tend to be welcoming and stuff, but to some extent this is conditioning to avoid "suspicion". At work places if there were more than 2 or 3 sitting down for lunch, people want to know what we are "meeting" about. Groups of black people are seen as a threat. I try to be polite to everyone, but I'm not fond of "outsiders" either. Don't call me by my first name w/o permission, don't get too familiar with me or take liberties that include touching me to get your point across. They are dealing with their own issues navigating the racism in this country. Usually people get to known each other one on one and then get introduced to the group.

I have a friend who has a child by a Nigerian dude. His family hates her...lol... They have a poor opinion of American blacks though because of anti-black propaganda. Most of the rest of the world got their impression of us through white eyes and white media. Until the early 80's that consisted of TV and movies that portrayed us as poor and lazy people who were criminals, maids, and prostitutes and news stories of scary black folk. You overcome that through relationship - actually getting to know black people . Actual experience should trump what they have been led to believe.

If all he wants to do is make noise, then he can continue to do what he is doing. If he actually wants to get his agenda passed, and have black people actually be able to get something they demand, then he needs to be more strategic. Does he want to simply be seen, or does he want RESULTS? He doesn't have to be formally educated to be intelligent, but he needs to have common sense and discernment. He needs to have actionable steps besides raising hell. He needs information, allies, people willing to do the lifting on his behalf.

To go back to last night, you had the strategist from FL. First hand access to data candidates are working from. She said (for FL at least) reparations is not on their radar. She told him to meet with folks to get it on their radar. Info on grassroots. He wanted to tell her that the info she has is wrong. Now is it on someone's radar somewhere? Of course, there is a bill in the house, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease and he isn't squeaking to the right people. She gave the list of what candidates are CURRENTLY hearing (food, housing etc) and instead of him formulating a plan to get his demands heard, or instead of asking who she suggest he speak with, or perhaps gaining her trust and asking her to make an introduction, he blew her off.

I didn't get to hear everything he said when he was going off about LGBT and superpacs and LGBT getting xyz, but don't hate the player, LEARN THE GAME. What did the LGBT folks do to get their agenda passed? They didn't just vote and go home. They were in their state capitols and in the US capitol lobbying folks, getting arrested, writing letters, phone banking. They didn't get lobby dems, they lobbied the GOP. People don't need to be your friend to work your agenda. Black folks seem to be the only ones who think that once they cast their vote the job is done. Other groups hold people accountable, but they can't hold them accountable if they aren't elected. What good does it do to make demands that no one is in the position to fulfill?

I don't know about the rest of these folks, but I'm getting by but I'm no where near well off. I wasn't raised well off. I have some family doing extremely well, but that's by no means the majority of us. Most of us are working day to day like everyone else. My main issue with Tariq is that it seems like he doesn't actually want reparations. He just wants the spectacle of making demands.

He has received feedback from people in close contact with those he needs to deal with: Stop sounding like the Black version of the klan, stop shitting on the people you need to help, get your demands in front of the right people who can actually do something. The issue needs to come up repeatedly so it gets on the radar. It went in one ear, out the other, and he had justification for dismissing all of it.

Would Kamala Harris or anyone else want to deal with him knowing that he thinks black women with white spouses are Negro Bed Wenches? We have LGBT congress people, should any of them want to help him after what he has said about LGBT? Not everyone in congress is American by birth, and some may have immigrant parents, should they want to help him with his rhetoric about immigrants? He is burning his bridges before the trip even starts. These are the people coalitions have to be formed with to get an agenda passed. He doesn't have to like them, but you'd think he would consider being a lil less obnoxious since he wants something from them in exchange for his vote.

If all he wants to do is be seen sounding manly making demands, then he is already good. If he wants an actual resolution and accomplishment of his stated goal, then he has a ways to go and is not yet on the path to get there.

From that simple Tweet, Tariq's sensitive ass lost his shit and started his years long anti-Roland campaign. But coward that he is, never has agreed to a meet to debate him.

But in the meantime, Tariq will continue to enrich himself with the money of his followers.

This sounds like him.

Understand the point but I won't make a long response, anyone in Corporate America will lose their job getting close to Tariq's message, this is mostly for the underground it's not mainstream.

Tariq also lives in Million dollar home so i think he's just doing business, I'm sure he understands this well. He just found a lane and profits off it.

The LGBT community has alot of power but also alot of very powerful, rich people.. one movie actor can probably donate more than a whole city or town by themselves and alot of them are actually undercover or straight gay. This is a long game here, nothing will come overnight. Tariq is gonna keep posting articles and slowly getting more people when they get home away from the PC stuff and hope they think differently.

And no Kamala is exactly the type of person I spoke off earlier, she'll never side with him even if he didn't say the Negro bedwench thing, not gonna happen, she's the one that popped up in my mind symbolization over actually being a part of it.

Anyway no big issue, my post earlier is probably my best thought on this topic as a whole, hard for someone to relate with what's unrelatable to them.

Gotta run.

Tariq really had an opportunity to take off...but his personal beefs (i mean this stuff with Roland Martin is still going?) kept him from reaching a higher plane. What he said was going to happen...happened. But he comes off like a hustler and when one thing isn't worker, he moves to another..Hidden Colors was his shining moment and he really could have been one of these people on MSNBC, i think his Mack Lessons radio show could have been in the rearview before MeToo..got started..Tariq seemed like a good dude, but he be on that BS at times..can't really mess with dude no more

This sounds like him.
For sure. Also, when that sista and the brotha were giving him statistics based on their own research to bolster their points, Tariq was calling it "babbling". Very demeaning and insecure. Yet, he didn't provide his own stats to refute. He was out of his element and out of his league. Kudos to him for FINALLY dialoguing with some intelligent, well-spoken people for a change, even though he oftentimes came off like a deer on ice skates.

I don't think reparations being for FBA/DOAS only is an issue. We don't want to be judged on the worst of us, but we are doing it to other groups. We have immigrant members of this board y'all got along with fine for years. Now it's a problem because someone who faux authority said it should be.
I don't have a problem with all, just the ones talk down FBA like their shit don't stink. Social media exposes societies degenerates

Tariq is a pure idiot. I have said many times on this board that he does agent shit. He has got into it with everyone in the black conscious community. I highly doubt that Tariq has taken a basic civics class because he clearly doesn't understand the 3 branches of government. Roland tore him a new one last night.

I wanted to go back and listen from the beginning but I can't do 6 hours. How are these folks doing multi hour shows multiple times a day? That's two hours short of my workday.

Keep in mind he lives in a million dollar home in LA and has a Bentley.

He does well enough to pay his bills, his wife NEVER worked a job in 20 years basically and he got like 6 kids total.

So he's doing okay, he's where he should be if he's too mainstream he'll be gone by now.

He's in a safe spot, uppity people see him as a troll, street love him.

He'll survive.
