Thank you kindly, and to you & your family as well.

Yeah - I was just making a cold street-type comment regarding looking for insurance given the thread.

Regarding work ... yeah ... it's that work-life balance. I've mentioned to a few coworkers it's probably wise to get out sooner as they've played their cards right and are set up well in life. No debt to their names (a few pushing 60yo). Their finances are all in good order, etc.
Man I mention this to young folks regularly and atp, folks who are older than me as well (early 40’s) and it’s so crucial to happy living. Owing someone money is about the worst thing I could possibly imagine outside of monthly bills ofc. It’s such a drain on mental emotional and physical health. There’s simply no substitute for debt free living IMO.

Regarding family ... my dad's mom passed at 81, and what always fucked her up was losing her younger brother at 58yo in early-1997. He worked 40 years for the telephone company and passed a month after retiring. Healthy guy. Overexerted himself and had a pre-existing heart condition. 1st pension check came in the mail for his wife and college-aged son soon thereafter.

Grandma always thought to herself - "My baby bro ... took care of himself all his life. Never overindulged. And he's gone in his late-50s."

Whereas she travelled more, NEVER exercised & ate a garbage diet and outlived him by 23 years (while also having a heart attack & a few strokes along the way). She worked 32 - 33 years part-time for the post office.

As for my folks ... pops retired after 34 years with the fire department at age 59 or so. Mom retired in her early-60s from doing RN / RPN work for 30+ years. She did a little bit of oncall work for another work location once retired, but was like - "Nah, I don't need that kind of stress still ..."
Yea see yaw did it up right. Getting out while you still have your health and the funds to do so is the ultimate combo. I do get that this luxury and privilege isn’t available to a lot of people but if you can swing it, definitely do it and glad you guys did.

This life is short af man. A mere 80 years (if we’re lucky) and that’s it. Gone. It’s a privilege sharing this time on earth with folks who are here now.

When you sit and think about how most of these higher ups don't consider how their practices and policies impact real people. Only their shareholders bottom line......... Given what the economy, wealth gap, and health-care system could look like in the next couple of years......... This may not be a one off.
I’m dealing with some shit right now
My car got totaled (not my fault) and their insurance company keeps giving me the runaround
Shit makes you wanna murk someone

It would be shortsighted to think this guy would travel from wherever he is from
to assassinate the head of #4 on Forbe's list because of a denied claim.

It's real anti-Hero ( White Hero) when I see all the reasons people are giving him
on why it could happen.

Well said. Life is short like you said, and it's best to spend quality time with the people you love most while you can. You never know in this cold world.

My dad was always frugal growing up and well into my 20s, so it's good to see him spending money later in his life. He's treated himself to stuff, and been very generous to his family and friends along the way. While sacrificing earlier in life to ensure he was in an ok place later on.

Mom's always been more of a spender (they divorced just past the mid-90s) and has travelled internationally quite a bit, and never worried about prices on stuff. That said - her and her common law BF bought a home together around 2018. Mid-70s now and she's still carrying a mortgage. Hell, what do you do, huh? lol.

Agreed re: no substitute for debt-free living.

That or having a budget and living well within it. Living within one's means, but still having the occasional joy or luxury within reason.

I'll say this ... it's frustrating when seeing stuff like the furniture stores with their "Pay later" plans and hyping up payment plans of 3 - 4 years for a sofa and shit. Always thought to myself - "If it will take you 4 years to pay off a $1000 sofa ... you should not be buying that shit. The fuck are we doin' here?!"

Cats dont understand how gangsta these corporations are.

In 2017, a billionaire (with a B) who worked in Big Pharma was murdered in Toronto.

Someone killed him and his wife and that shit has been an unsolved mystery ever since.
myopic thinking on their part. These corporations are multinational, billion and trillion dollar enterprises. A lot of them are essential to black and grey market activity as well.

But most of them have top flight security. If they didn’t, this would happen a lot more frequently.
