Was watching Season 4 again, and I still cant figure out why Slim Charles told Bodie about Marlo killing Lil Kevin. It's almost like he was trying to stir shit up.
he was warning bodie that that crew aint the ones to fuck with. IIRC

Two lines, season 2 and season 5 show a great difference of mentality the suppliers have vs the street.
At one point Vondas says 'my name is not my name' - all they care about is making money.
While locked up Marlo says 'my name is my name' - to him, and a guy like avon their rep is worth as much as the money they make.

basically just trying to warn him not to get out of line because Marlo was a new age nigga. you have to remember stringer and avon were old school dealers and had a little more "respect" for the street game. Marlo was one of them new cats that wanted everything his way and said fuck the rules.

Their product is what made them who they are. On the streets, fear and rep might make a difference. When you're in the rarefied air of The Greek, you strive for anonymity and to develop a few sect connects to ensure your product gets to market. Everything else will take care of itself. It's about money period. At THAT level.

Immigration-type shit was DEFINITELY Season 6's focus.I always wonder if the wire went on for another two seasons what direction they would of show gone in.
That article says Avon was copied from someone else not the dude named Avon who was on that hood documentary that someone posted a few months back.
What will forever eat at Marlo is that Omar called him out and everyone in tha streets knew
except him which made him look like some type of bitch especially since Omar was all fucked up after jumping out that window and still having tha balls to challenge him.Now that tha boogey man Omar is dead tha kill belongs to Kinard some lil hopper no one even knew except tha other hoppers around him, when Marlo tha tough guy who ain't afraid of shit couldn't even handle his own business.
True. I didn't like how Omar went out, but I can respect it. It was more normal. On every movie I have ever watched it seemed that the bad ass character was killed by a somebody. Why can't he just get killed? The Wire just killed him. I take that back. I like how they did it. As long as he lived, though, I know I wasn't the only one that thought he was gonna make it thru the end of the show.
But when Marlo killed Butchie I was thinking like when Jay-Z talked about when Tony killed Manolo. That was fucked up.
I always wonder if the wire went on for another two seasons what direction they would of show gone in.
Nah. He was legit asking if Bodie was good with Marlo cuz he thought Bodie might be next since Big Kevin was his right hand.
It was actually pretty realistic that a relative nobody killed Omar. Especially since Omar didn't take kids serious. Under estimated them in both Season 4 and 5. Plus, growin up in North Philly, there were always these tough guys that everyone thought was invincible. They'd always wind up getting hit up by some no name dude from some rag tag corner. Never failed.
i recently talked to a white person about the wire. it was rather weird for them to be able to come back at me with just as much details about the show.
I am rewatching the wire and in the 3rd episode the FBI dude comes to McNulty and says that Daniels is dirty. I cannot remember what he did and if he actually WAS dirty. What'd he do?
He was on the take back in the day.
He was on the take from who for what? Was it on some Serpico "Take the money so we know you are one of us and won't turn us in" kind of thing, or was it on some "look the other way while we steal this shit and here's a little something to pay for the cotton in your ears"?
It was probably like how Herc and Carver did it.
I think it was when they were running up in Nick Sabotka's house in Season 2 and they found the money under a mattress and they stuffed a couple stacks into there vests.
And I think thats why Daniels was real strict on Herc and Carver when they lost that money in the trunk of the car when they seized that garbage bag full of money from Clay Davis's driver (Ashy Larry) because that's what he used to do. He probably did it a lot and his department figured out that he had way more cash than he was supposed to.
I always wonder if the wire went on for another two seasons what direction they would of show gone in.
gotta understand we love it because its real true to our lives
they love it because its fascinating and compelling television.
that's why the wire is greatness. you have to watch it whether you've been through it or not and you're drawn into the characters whether you've lived a chartered life or one of struggle.
case in point
the news week part pertains to the wire specifically but the whole thing rings true
It would've been a cycle. One of the themes of the show was the more things change the more they stay the same. There would've been a new Avon and Stringer (possibly one of them would've been Randy), there would've been a new Omar (Michael), it would've been the same thing but with different characters.
"Fuck your big dick red ball. You can't work with that, then just write me the fuck up and ship my ass to a trial board" - Bunk
wtf is a red ball
