The Official Flash Thread Discussion

I like that Henry is Jay Garrick. Silver age Jay Garrick is a middle aged man. It's cook that after all these years the original Flash is back in a role as a speedster. He's gone full circle. I was afraid that they would do some Smallville shit and give his father V9 and save the day.

I really dont think it was supposed to be Barry Allen's "father" in the mask when it first started out - I think the writers changed it mid season but the death of henry Allen just the episode before makes the reveal very underwhelming because it added NOTHING to the story or anything to any of the characters.

I actually think it does by the simple fact that it shows that underneath it all... Barry is extremely selfish. I also think that in his mind he probably felt that his actions in the past and the future have directly lead to the death of both of his parents and it was just to much for him to bare. Like he said... He was broken inside. So in his mind... Going back to stop Reverse flash would end all the heart ache that he has caused but as we shall learn... He will have just made everything worse.

But I'll tell you this... If Arrow doesn't show some kind of effect because of this I'm calling bullshit on this CW shared universe. They have it perfectly set up... To have this be the underlying main story thread for all 4 shows...

I would start out with Supergirl and have things on her earth be the same. Then I would have Earth 2 Wells appear on her Earth because he is trying to find a way back to Earth 1 and he is having problems because of the disturbance that Barry has caused. So Wells enlisted the help of Kara because she remembers Barry and she brings in her techno Bestie to see if he can reenact the experiment that caused Barry to be able to go back to earth 1. He does but here is the catch.... Kara would have to use the device because Kara is the only one next to superman who could run fast enough to make it work. She tells Wells to hold on to her and she zooms off... Ending up in Earth 1 on this new darker world.

Wells comes back to Earth 1 with his memories intact and sees that his doppelgänger is still alive and doing well... Sisco, katyln and Ronnie still work for him and they have no memories of Barry. Earth 1 Wells is still working on the particle accelerator but he is still a couple years off (pursuant to the timeline before the reverse flash killed Barry's mom)... So in Essense Barry is still destined to be the flash but later. He would just become the flash in the manner that the Reverse Flash would remember. Barry wouldn't be working with the police, but he would still know Joe and Iris though Barry's Dad. In this reality Barry's mom is alive but his dad would be dead. While all this is going on a time wraith appears and Kara would have to fight him.

That causes Cisco to have a vibe (he can do this because... I'm still of the belief that Cisco's powers are releated to the reverse flash killing him in another timeline causing him to become a living paradox)... Cisco's vibe shows him the legends of tomorrow and he mentions this to Wells and Kara. Then some other shit happens. Episode ends

On arrow.. I wouldn't start with the weird shit. I would start out in a completely different place from when season 4 ended. Have Ollie back to being the dark hood with Diggle still around and Felcity back to the awesome felicity from Season 1 and 2. He would still be in control of his company. The town is still called Starling city. The events up to Season 2 still happen... Except he never meets Barry. Superpowers are back to being a new thing in that world. Laura is back alive. She becomes the Black Cannary sooner because of serious training with Wildcat but still has problems with alcoholism. She ends up starting a relationship with Wildcat and they end up becoming their own vigilante team. She does not become a part of team arrow.

This gives them the opportunity to correct that horrible bullshit with Ras Alghul. In this world Ras doesn't have any interest in Ollie taking on the mantle, but the League continues to be a threat. Ras is still alive.. But played by a different character. The ripple from Barry changing the timeline.. Lead to the Ras shown in Season 3 getting killed years ago and this is a new Ras. The previous Ras daughters are still alive and were adopted by the new Ras to become his children.

Then on Legends, I would have the new team travel to the Justice Society of America headquarters... Where they are shown pictures and busts of their legendary adventures. Sara and Ray notice the Society was built after the world suffered a near world ending event in 2015. That's when the legends are taken back because nothing like that happened in their timeline. So someone has changed the future leading to the deaths of 90 percent of the world. Since there are no more time masters and no longer a way to pin point time... They have to spend the first couple of episodes piecing everything together like a time traveling detective movie.. And that's when they discover that Barry Allen caused this problem. Bam and that's how you get your cross over event.

I accept cash, money orders and credit cards CW.

I actually liked the direction of the character being overly confident and witty. It felt more like the comic character.

they won't. But if they did it would be crazy. But DC isnt gonna let the shows touch Batman now that Batfleck is like the one hope of getting their cinematic universe back on track.

I liked the finale...corny bits and all. Its such a good show overall that I can forgive the little things. I've been waiting on them to go full Flashpoint since the first time he went back in time. However, it will be interesting to see what they do with it. I never read it in the comics, but the animated movie is one of my favorites. The best part though was the other characters....WW/Aquaman beef and Thomas Wayne/Batman. So I'm cautiously optimistic about season 3, but its been good so far so they get the benefit of the doubt.

I think you could bring in Thomas Wayne without explicitly showing Batman. I mean Supergirl... fucking talks about Superman 5 times an episode. If they were smart, I would do this.

Thomas Wayne? To what end?

I would have Thomas Wayne drop in to at least establish that Gotham city exists in this world, but I wouldn't jump into having him become Batman. I would fuck with the timeline just a little bit and have Martha Wayne alive and pregnant with (Bruce)... I would have Thomas as a kind and caring doctor. Who was loved and respected. Who didn't know how to harm anyone. Then have Martha tragically killed mid-season in Gotham.
Then for the rest of the Flashpoint episodes we show the slow transformation of Thomas Wayne into a hardened vigilante. Willing to kill to seek justice, but not wearing the batman mask. This is where I would slightly flip the script and bring Azrael into the Arrowverse. Have this mysterious guy show up.... mercing people. He would basically become the Anti Green Arrow and I would have the remaining season... showing the contrasting styles. You wouldn't know until close to the end that Thomas was Azrael. "Bam" there you have Ollie's conflict for season 5.

Barry would get involved when Cisco has a vibe of their original earth 1 timeline that just shows the back of the head of Thomas's Son and then a bunch of bats rush into the frame. Barry realizes that because of his actions... Thomas wayne's son would have lived. Barry wouldn't have known that Thomas would have ended up dying instead. He sees what he has created and he decides that he must fix everything. Bam... End of Flashpoint.

I'm with you on this.

It's TV so there will be some corniness however the characters are so likeable it's par for the course.
The acting is on point for the most part as well.

Put it this way. Having had to suffer through those 80s and 90s Batman and Superman movies, I'm real happy about what I'm seeing now.

Tom Cavanagh will be back for "The Flash" Season 3.
When"The Flash"returns for Season 3 this fall, so willTom Cavanagh. According toEntertainment Weekly, Cavanagh will be back as a season regular, though it's unclear at this time just who he'll be playing.

Over the past two seasons of the show, Cavanagh has played two separate characters: in the first season, he was Eobard Thawne, aka Reverse Flash, masquerading in the form of Earth-1's Harrison Wells; and in Season 2, he played Earth-2's version of Harrison "Harry" Wells. However, in the Season 2 finale, he and his daughter Jesse returned home to Earth-2 with the help of Earth-3's Jay Garrick.

However, as the report points out, Cavanagh could be playing an entirely different character thanks to the events of the Season 2 finale: the original Earth-1 Harrison Wells. In the finale, Barry went back in time and stopped Reverse Flash from murdering his mother, meaning he has upset time as he knew it. As such, it's entirely possible that Reverse Flash never went on to murder Wells and his wife.

The Flash officially doing Flashpoint

As many fans suspected after that jaw-dropping finale, The Flash will officially be depicting the seminal DC Comics storyline Flashpoint in season 3.

Grant Gustin revealed the news on Twitter Monday, first teasing thathe’s read the premiere script, the title of which he wouldn’t divulge. But after executive producer Greg Berlanti gave his permission on Twitter, Gustin tweeted that the title of the season premiere is “Flashpoint.”

For the uninitiated, Flashpoint preceded DC Comics’ 2011 relaunch of 52 of its titles — dubbed The New 52 — where storylines converged for a crossover arc, which was written by Geoff Johns, now an executive producer on The Flash and the Chief Creative Officer at DC Comics.

In the story, Barry Allen finds himself in an alternate timeline in which his mother is no longer dead, and most of the world’s heroes are more like villains these days — Aquaman is at war with Wonder Woman; Batman is Thomas Wayne, not Bruce Wayne; Captain Cold is actually a Central City hero named Citizen Cold.

Though Barry believes the Reverse-Flash to be at fault for the changes, it’s revealed that Barry himself altered the timeline by going back to save his mom. Sound familiar? That’s exactly what Gustin’s Barry Allen did during The Flash’s season 2 finale.

The move signaled the possibility that The Flash would go down the Flashpoint route in season 3, which has now been confirmed. What this actually means for the show, however, remains to be seen. WhileThe Flash probably won’t introduce characters like Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and Batman because of DC’s film division, the show has a tendency to put a twist on the comics. Take the powerless vigilante angle: The Flash has already toyed with the idea that Robert Queen (Jamey Sheridan) was The Arrow on Earth-2 instead of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), which could be easily transferred to the Flashpoint storyline.

Now the question remains: How will this effect Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl especially considering the shows will be crossing over for a four-way event in December? Technically, those storylines could feasibly continue without a direct effect — these heroes move on in this timeline, while Barry has created an entirely new timeline in which his mother never died. Or — hold onto your hats for a moment here — we could see Flashpoint leading up to another comic book storyline: Crisis on Infinite Earths, which The Flash has also been teasing since its pilot, with the crossover potentially serving as the episode that realigns the timelines and maybe even brings Supergirl to our Earth. But those are theories for another time.

"THE FLASH" ADDS "HARRY POTTER" STAR TOM FELTON AS SERIES REGULAR

"The Flash" just got a touch more magical."Harry Potter" star Tom Felton has joined the hit CW show as series regular character Julian Dorn, who TVLine describes as "a fellow CSI at the Central City Police Department who suspects there's more to Barry Allen than just his good guy reputation."

The character sounds very similar to one described in an earlier report, which revealed that "The Flash" was looking to cast "Barry's slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive. As such, this newcomer doesn't buy Barry’s nice guy routine and sets out to learn what he's hiding -- all while concealing some secrets of his own."

Felton is best known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the "Harry Potter" series of films. Since then, he has also appeared in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and "The Apparition."

In the Season 2 finale, Grant Gustin's Barry Allen went back in time and prevented his mother's murder, triggering a famous linchpin event from the comics. While we've yet to see how this massive change in the show's timeline will affect the series as it moves into its third season, "Flashpoint" -- the title of the season three premiere episode -- gives fans a major, major hint.

The major DC Comics event from 2011 of the same name saw Barry Allen trying to navigate a totally altered world -- one wherein his mother Nora was alive. "Flashpoint" also served as the lead-in to DC's New 52 relaunch, the effects of which are still being felt today as part of DC's current Rebirth initiative.

After revealing the Season 3 premiere's title on Twitter, Gustin added, "We're definitely doing this ['Flashpoint'] thing our own way…. This will be its own thing."

Starring Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Carlos Valdes and more, "The Flash" returns to The CW on October 4 at 8 pm EST.
