So ESPN is reporting 11 of the 12 Patriot footballs were deflated :smh:. It's not like deflating the balls would make that much of a difference in beating the Colts but why go through all that just to make sure you win and risk getting caught? :smh:

Either team can win this. And that's what you want. Post preseason, I picked NE vs. GB in the SB. Now that SEA is back, I don't know. I'm leaning towards SEA because they've escaped. And who did the Pats beat? BAL wasn't supposed to be in the playoffs. And IN isn't an elite team yet. Couldn't run and couldn't stop the run.:dunno:

My question is, how good are the Patriots. That's my struggle in picking and betting on this game.

I've got Seattle winning but call me crazy with this...Tim Wright might end up having the game of his life if all others are locked down. The homie has plenty of skill to get past those LBs since he's got more agility than Gronk. I'm surprised you're having more trouble deciding with Seattle than with GB.

Noted. That's an intersting wildcard.

But nah, before the season started, I said GB vs. NE in the SB. That's before the season. I thought the NFC road would go through Lambeau and Rodgers would be healthy and hungry. And that NFC West would feast on each other. Knew the Patriots would have a shot in that division with HFA. It's tough to beat them there with favorable calls and a good team.

New SB picks, GB vs NE.

8-26-2014.

Right now, it's SEA, but I'll have to really think about it. I just may go NE.

I NEVER liked the Patriots, or Giants or Jets for that matter! I ain't no homer... As a kid I was into the Purple People eaters - a/k/a Minnesota Vikings.
I went to college in Philly-
I worked for tWIWP, the eagles broadcast station then and saw a lot of games LIVE! I used to say I bleed Eagles GREEN, until they traded Vick. So I went up the NJ Turnpike with him & turned my GREEN blood into JET fuel. (that turned out great!)

So last year I jumped on the Seahawks bandwagon and I guess I keep a seat on it.

:lol::lol::lol:

At least you keep it 100!!!!
unlike some of these new Seattle fans in this thread.

RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks starting nickel cornerback Jeremy Lane paused for a moment Thursday when asked what makes New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski so good, because Lane disagrees.

"I actually don't think he's that good," Lane said. "He's OK. He does have a big body. But from what I've seen on tape, he doesn't like you putting your hands on him. So if we put our hands on him and shake him up a little bit, he won't catch that many balls."

Gronkowski (6-foot-6, 265 pounds) is a three-time All-Pro selection, including this season when he caught 82 passes for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns. But Lane said the key to stopping Gronkowski is hitting him at the line of scrimmage.

"Yeah, but that's always our key every week, putting our hands on the receivers," Lane said. "It's definitely an issue with him from watching tape."

The Patriots often line up Gronkowski in the slot, which means Lane could be lined up against him.

"I'm good no matter who's lined up there," Lane said. "But [the Patriots] try to do things like line a bunch of ineligible guys out there to get you confused. We have a plan for it."

Lane said his main plan for the Super Bowl is the same as any other game, as far as coverage goes.

"Most of the time, if you look at the quarterback throw it, you'll look at the receiver catch the ball," Lane said. "[Seahawks defensive backs] coach [Kris Richard] always reminds us of that. Keep your eyes on your luggage. That's what we call it. Keeps your eyes on your man and everything else will take care of itself."

Marshawn Lynch blasts NFL for fining teammate Chris Matthews

marshawn-lynch-fine.jpg

It certainly seems that Marshawn Lynch cares little about having to pay the piper, a/k/a the NFL, in the form of fines for his various transgressions, but the Seattle Seahawks running back draws the line when the league goes after one of his own.

Lynch, who was fined $20,000 by the NFL for grabbing his crotch following his 24-yard touchdown run in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, expressed his extreme displeasure with the fact that one of his teammates, wide receiver Chris Matthews, was also punished in a monetary fashion by the league for his conduct following the same score.

Matthews was assessed a fine of $11,025 for his end zone antics following Lynch’s clutch touchdown run. The Seahawks running back — who previously was fined $11,050 for a crotch grab during a game against the Arizona Cardinals in December — took to Twitter Thursday to blast the league for fining his teammate.

Lynch isn’t particularly prolific when it comes to social media — his Twitter activity mostly involves retweets — so the fact he fired up his account to blast the fine certainly says something.

The problem with Lynch’s unhappiness with Matthews’ fine, though, is that it apparently was not for shaking his hand, but for also busting out a celebratory groin grab, as noted by USA Today’s Tom Pelissero:

Pelissero also posted evidence on Instagram of Matthews’ crotch-tug.

Irrespective of the exact reason why Matthews was fined, odds are good that Lynch will nevertheless remain unhappy one of his teammates experienced the NFL’s administration of justice, in part due to said teammate conducting himself in a similar fashion to Lynch. One thing is clear about these Seahawks: They are a tightly-knit group that doesn’t take kindly to one of their own coming under fire and often will do or say something about it.

The man known as “Beast Mode” is not only on the hook for $20,000 due to his groin grab during the NFC title game, it is expected he will be fined — quite harshly, in fact — for not speaking to the media after the game. The severity of the expected fine is mostly due to how Lynch previously has been fined $100,000 for his steadfast refusal to talk to reporters in two separate incidents that occurred since last January.

And with Super Bowl Week just ahead when Lynch will be expected to make himself available to the media on three consecutive days, Super Bowl XLIX could prove to be quite costly for the media-averse running back.

I'm a lifelong 49ers fan...they're the team that made me love the game when I was a kid. I live in Nashville so I try to support the Titans...though they make it very hard. I used to fucking hate the Patriots....but over the years they won me over. Not much left to hate....or at least thats what I had been saying prior to recent allegations....which I dont know what to think of at present other than the shit is kinda hilarious either way. Be that as it may....NE is my default AFC pick most years til another team shows something worth reevaluating.

All that said.....this Seattle team I really like. They got damn near everything I like to see in a team.....so call it bandwagon or whatever....I felt some kinda way rooting for them in the SB last year....though them embarrassing Peyton helped ease that....(few things taste better than Peyton Manning tears)....I've pulled for them throughout this postseason and for me....them vs NE is as good a SB as I could have hoped for.

Vegas, fans favoring Patriots

The Super Bowl point spread is holding steady at New England minus-1, even as money continues to pile up on the Patriots in Las Vegas.

Four times more money had been bet on New England than the underdog Seattle Seahawks as of Monday at sportsbook operator CG Technology. That includes two six-figure wagers on the Patriots that came from sophisticated players, according to CG Technology vice president of risk Jason Simbal.

"My guess is that the smarter customers are envisioning that number goes even higher, which is why they wanted to bet it as early as possible," Simbal said.

New England is listed as a 1-point favorite at almost all Vegas sportsbooks. The Wynn bumped up its line to Patriots minus-1.5 over the weekend, but it was the first and only Vegas book to get that high as game week began.

The action was more even at the MGM, with only slightly more money having been bet on the Patriots.

The MGM had taken two six-figure bets, one on each team, as of Monday morning. Assistant manager Jeff Stoneback said more than $1 million has already been wagered on the game at the MGM.

The Westgate SuperBook reported having two times more money on the Patriots than the Seahawks. The SuperBook had not received any limit bets to this point, according to assistant manager Jeff Sherman.

Caesars said it had received public money on the Patriots but hadn't taken any big bets to this point.

"Maybe the bettors that like the Seahawks are waiting for the number to get higher before they start coming in with their cash," said David Pemberton, director of specialty games for Caesars Entertainment.

Marc Nelson, sportsbook director at the Aliante, said he had received far more bets on the Patriots but that the total money wagered was pretty even.

"Nearly all the money on Seattle came on two wagers, which were both limit plays from first-time players at Aliante," Nelson said.

Limits vary from book to book and bettor to bettor.

In addition to the Patriots, the under and "heads" were popular bets in Vegas.

Stoneback said professional players at the MGM placed four limit bets on the under, when it was at 49.5.

The total was sitting at 48 at most shops as of Monday. Stoneback said pros had taken the under in the first, second and fourth quarters.

In Super Bowl coin-flip betting at the SuperBook, Sherman said there was four times more money on "heads" than "tails."

Offshore, the Super Bowl point spread was listed at pick 'em at multiple prominent sportsbooks. The line opened with Seattle as a 2.5-point favorite at most books on Championship Sunday, but New England quickly assumed the role as favorite.

Pete Carroll: Marshawn Lynch to have great week

PHOENIX -- Unless your name is Deion Sanders, good luck getting Marshawn Lynch to express himself during Super Bowl week.

The Seattle Seahawks running back religiously avoided reporters during last year's build-up to the title tilt before drawing a $50,000 fine this season for avoiding scribes following a loss to the Chiefs.

Coach Pete Carroll, though, wouldn't change a thing about his hard-charging back.

"First off, let's not miss that he is a very unique individual and he has a way that we have embraced, that we understand Marshawn and we support him every way that we can," Carroll told reporters during Sunday's media session. "But, he is a very unique guy and he's got his own way of looking at things and he's also a very private person, too. That's why the media thing is as it is. It's not something that he is going to express a whole lot to you."

The Seahawks only need Lynch to continue his feverish performance on the ground. After just a pair of 20-plus carry games over his first six starts, Lynch has averaged 18.5 attempts per outing since Week 7, crossing the 20-tote barrier seven times. His 157 yards in the NFC Championship Game were the spark behind Seattle's wild comeback against the Packers.

Lynch also drew a fine in that game, though, for an obscene gesture after scoring a game-changing fourth-quarter touchdown against Green Bay.

"I haven't talked to him about the thing that just came up from the league and the things about the game and all that yet, but that will be addressed and I expect him to have a great Super Bowl week," Carroll said. "I think he's going to have a great time doing this and playing in this game come game day. It's something that he really cherishes and he cherishes playing for his teammates and we love him in the program."

Pete Carroll: Sherman expressing opinion

PHOENIX -- Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Monday the team celebrates its players' "uniqueness," and that cornerback Richard Sherman was simply expressing an opinion about the relationship between New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Sunday, shortly after the Seahawks' arrival in Arizona, Sherman said he didn't believe the Patriots would be punished if they were found to have adjusted the air pressure in 11 footballs prior to last Sunday's AFC Championship Game.

nfl_a_shermts_300x200.jpg

AP Photo/Scott EklundPete Carroll said Richard Sherman was simply expressing an opinion about the relationship between Robert Kraft and Roger Goodell.

Sherman cited a photograph that included Goodell and Kraft from a party at Kraft's house the night before the AFC Championship Game, a photo that was then posted to the Patriots' official Twitter account:

"Will they be punished? Probably not," Sherman said. "Not as long as Robert Kraft and Roger Goodell are still taking pictures at their respective homes. You talk about conflict of interest. As long as that happens, it won't affect them at all. Nothing will stop them."

Carroll was asked Monday if he would speak to Sherman about that comment and whether or not he believed Sherman has correctly described the relationship between Kraft and Goodell.

"Well, first off I think they were on the air, he said them out loud," Carroll said at the Arizona Grand Resort. "So, that is what he said. Richard has an outlook that Richard owns. And he had opinion about something. I don't think he knows the commissioner and Mr. Kraft very well, I don't think they have a long-standing relationship. But he has an opinion and he expressed it."

Carroll added that while he would speak to Sherman about the assessment, he didn't believe it would alter Sherman's outlook on the matter.

"Whether I talk to him or not, he's still going to have his opinion," Carroll said. "And we actually talk about most everything that is spoken, eventually that'll come up. We won't share with you how that comes out and all, but we will talk about stuff. We always have."

Then asked if he believed Sherman was correct Carroll chuckled and said: "I don't know that, it's Richard's opinion, that's the easy part of all this."

Carroll was also asked about how he would deal with running back Marshawn Lynch, who has been fined for obscene gestures he made during games this season as well as not fulfilling the league's media policy.

"You'll never know that," Carroll responded to how he would deal with Lynch this week. "I will never answer that question, sorry. We're just going to talk as we would to make sure everything that comes into this game will be in line with how we want to go about the game. I'll just tell you it's no different than when I talk to other players about other issues ... pretty typical for us to address that ... We have a great understanding on our team that allows us to talk about what we need to talk about. But I'll say this and I'll say it again, we still celebrated the uniqueness of our players."

My bad, I'm just used to The Tuck and that bullshit holding call when McFadden scored early in the year to tie the game in regulation.

I don't really watch y'all. But I can count the non calls on the formations (confusing officials) against Baltimore. And that flop Brady got when the Colts hit him fare and square.

But you're really busy around here lately. We got you shoed-in as a Patriots fan. Don't worry about it. Enjoy the game.

Cam takes way more vicious hits than Brady in and out of the pocket. And the refs dont coddle him with penalty flags just because his head whips back or it knocked the wind out of him like they do for Brady. Cam doesnt have rules named after him that were made because he got injured like Brady. No one depends on the refs more than Brady. PERIOD.
