I hope Negan survives in the end and they don't Give him some cliched bullshit death like he deserved to die because he is the bad guy. If you read the comics no need to comment to my post just ignore it because I don't want to know what you have to say.

It went how it was supposed to go though... so it's not like they did it for the heck of it. Can't say if there's no more plot left because first, the season just opened up, and I can only imagine that Negan is gonna be severly fucking with Rick's head for a little while, but we know that somehow, some way, it's not gonna last, and that Rick and crew will prevail. That's a lot of plot to work with, not to mention the other group(s) out there.

over the top violent and sadistic because there's no more plot left. this is the end of the road.

this is like when Oz ran out of good writing so they just filled the last few seasons with violence and jailrape...

you guys are confusing torture porn for good tv. shit was trash.

Sorry, but Social Media disagrees with you. All that has been posted since the episode aired is people talking how wrecked they are. https://twitter.com/search?q=#TheWalkingDead&src=typd

Yea, I've seen lots of reaction vids put up about this season premiere

Assessments of "unmoving", "mediocre acting", "bad dialogue", etc were not in the conversation

Negan KILLED it

Best season opener so far

Well compared to how many of Neegan's men were wacked by Rick and the gang, Rick and company got off light.

He was da direct result of that shit. Negan won't in da wrong. :dunno:

Rick's bravado pillow talk to Michonne of ",,,just take what we want" has REAL consequences. Killing Negan's men 1st brought that hornet's nest on themselves.

The live reaction's to Daryl's indiscretions were hilarious

"No no noooooooo, what are you doing?":roflmao:

You must also be on TV Tropes's page
:cool::giggle:
Yeah without a doubt you'd have to kill me.
you think negan's gonna kill you quick? you should know that he's smarter than to give you a quick death that you want.
i dont know about the comic but as far as its portrayed on tv
governor is avon
negan is marlo
even put darryl in the back of the van like he was lil kevin
i never thought of it that way before, but tbh as a comic reader, that's pretty accurate.

this assessment is so wrong, i dunno if you were even paying attention to the dialogue.

let's put aside that negan's introduction was pretty much the same in the comics (back in 2012) so it's not a hack writing issue.

yes negan was being sadistic and having fun, but he laid out his reasoning. from his perspective, he had to make a strong first impression in order to subjugate a group who CLEARLY had zero problems merking his crew prior. as violent as negan is, he's not an unhinged lunatic, in the sense that he is more impulsive than logical. we simply don't sympathize with his pov because we haven't followed his journey from the beginning. considering the problems rick an em cost him, he could've killed them all but didn't. do you think that had the roles been reversed at that point, that rick and crew wouldn't have killed them all? hell we got an example last season when the wolves invaded and people were pissed that morgan was sparing them.
My point is this...

There's a way to do it without the violence taking center stage.
Negans bat had a stronger performance than Rick or Glen.
That's not good TV.

I shoulda left that episode wondering how Carl is gonna cope with seeing his dad get trained like a puppy that pissed on the rug.
I should left that episode floored at how Glen is never gonna see his unborn kid or over his last words to Maggie.
That's how they kept me in the game in the past. The violence never overshadowed the people.

Last night, seeing 2 guys get their heads beaten into a pulp was the strongest thing I left that episode with. It was lazy. The cliffhanger episode last season was lazy. I'm saying that the show jumped the shark. Maybe I'll be proven wrong...

You're making excuses for it but I'm saying the same thing you are. The episode was draining and didn't draw me in whether part of the comic plot or not...
the bat's name is lucille and is a character in of itself. not in the literal sense of course, but it is apart of his identity.

what makes the entire scene with beating the heads in so chilling, was how methodical it was. he plainly stated his reasoning, for doing what he was doing, his long term goals (having the other communities provide sustinance) and he was smart enough to not under estimate rick's group's potential ruthlessness by playing whatever mind games he had to in order to demoralize and subjugate them.

what i think some people are getting mixed up is that even though it's clear that negan enjoys violence, he doesn't engage in violence only for the lulz.
I disagree. I think Rick was just physically exhausted after fighting for his life for the last 10 minutes to put up any real struggle. Think about all the savage shit Rick done. Do you think just having a gun pointed at him would have stopped an enraged Rick (especially with a weapon of his own). Nah, he was just to tired and he knew it. Keep in mind he had been up all damn night handcuffed and on his knees.

I do agree he was training him in a way (Go get my ax) , but he didn't break him until he had to cut off Carl's arm.
nah, negan had already made an example out of two of his crew, and even then rick tried to attack him on the rv at first. by the time he got the axe back for negan, he had already imagined everybody else in the group getting the lucille treatment. it still wasn't enough, so negan made that final push with carl's arm. by that time rick had already understood that negan's word was bond.
There is that new group Morgan found. I'm guessing neagan must have some enemies out there and they are probably it.
maybe

Not sure if he invented the term, but Tariq would call yall some nigga nerds.

It's a TV show about zombies and the apocalypse lol. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Everything is being over analyzed. It's not that serious yall. I enjoyed the show and will definitely be tuning in the whole season.

Man, I missed it Sunday because of the Seahawks game. If Rick would have cut his son's arm off I would have quit watching it. That episode was so fucked up and sadistic. I watch t.v. to escape, I can't watch a t.v. series that I need to escape from.. If the series continues along this path I just don't think I'll be able to continue watching it.

The show is about how characters adapt and how far they are willing to go (beyond moral fortitude) to survive in an apocolyptic world. The zombies are merely a backdrop.

Considering there are a lot of intelligent people here, of course the cinematography, character development, Rick's broken will, Negan's bad ass delivery, etc. of the season opener will get discussed

DUH lol

yo that was a gripping episode...I'd say easily one of the best eps ever for this series...dude's portrayal of negan is a beautiful evil...the complete decimation of rick...first time I can recall watching this show and the time flew by...damn I can't even imagine how this felt for those who were completely unaware of the spoilers...wow...great ep...damn had rick bawling like a child about to get licks...stole his heart nuts wrapped a leash around his brain and dragged it thru the mud...totally destroyed him...even daryl looked disgusted lol...mufuckas looked more hurt by the destruction of rick than they did when glen and the other dude got they shit smashed to bits

What if Negan had made the group pick a person for him to kill, who would the group have sacrificed?
