Well I asked for some background on how Negan's organization run and I got it. I'm confused as hell though. So Negan's rule is basically based on perpetual mindfuckery and swinging a bat around. I could almost believe it if he's were offering some kind of salvation dream, but he's not. The inner circle only gets first choice of fresh produce and a little less mindfuckery than everyone else.
It just doesn't seem like enough in a world where most are packing a gun or a rifle and everyone is a little crazy. Maybe's he's done a Dwight on everyone there. Seems unlikely though

I agree. However, without knowing if/how the comic explains it, I wonder if people are following along because of the benefits of guaranteed protection, food, shelter, and really being the group that nobody or other group fucks with is enough to make many give up their own freedom for those comforts. The few that step out of line get dealt with by Negan and or the majority of Negan's followers, or they disappear.

Negan prolly did not start like that, he most likely came up with a few good solutions to survive the apocalypse and slowly molded his people into what and who they are now. Most cult leaders always start with a tame message until you are hooked in then slowly introduce wilder shit until you are in deep and it all seems normal.
