Ok. This might be it for me. I'm tired of complaining about how black characters are portrayed but still watching. This Jesus dude is a boss now? Morgan been on his own forever,trained martial arts and a one man army but gets whooped by a weapon less homo? I love like this show but all the bruthas are dumb,cowards,crazy,or con artists while the white folks are leaders and fuckin all the women. Including the sistas.

I just started watching again since I have cable now.
But I always tuned this show out due to the issues you've raised.

Which leaves Maggie pretty one-dimensional.

Shit is a clown show. Writing and trying to keep up with fucking comics while trying to be original will doom this shit. Even when action is happening and it's fast paced, they manage to fuck the story up.

Only shit saving it for me is Darryl is being real. We see how fast characters from Fear evolved. But these characters still acting like they in the start of the situation.

Jesus needs to be put down more than the saviors.

So they probably grew up thinking they wanted the opposite whether they admit it or not and it's fucking up the show imho.

I got attracted to zombie genre early on because that was the only horror product with strong black leads. Even Day of the Dead had a strong black character. Every other thing had black people like the first to die. This TV series is like anti-Romero. And it's even more frustrating because Rick is a weak leader. Character from Dawn '78 would be running that group proper.

You're correct. Why was George Romero able to get it done decades ago? Great leaders and strong people have the same qualities regardless of race. I don't have to know about Asian-American culture to make a strong Asian-American character. Shit, they can't even come with a strong black villain? At least do that. From my understanding o the comic, Negan was supposed to be physically intimidating. They obviously couldn't find white actors to fit the character, why not try a black actor?

The show is plagued by poor writing though. The weak black characters are just another example of the shit writing. They let Morgan lose while HE had the weapon. At least he could have thrown that shit down before the fight.
