For all those saying it needs to be 24 episodes think about all the best shows of the last decade or so and what they have in common is they're all about 12 eps.
The Wire
The Sopranos
The Shield
Deadwood
Even the good shit on now like MadMen,Breaking Bad,Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire only run 12-13.
The thing is on these shows they understood less time means you make every ep. count and even the slow parts were setting up for something bigger later.
Since they've deviated from the novel the writers seem just as lost and confused as their characters.

Sad part is that U.K. shows are like 4-7 episodes per series and they still KILL U.S. shows. A hour of Luther means something. A hour of Walking Dead makes you wonder when this shit will end.

that is true with the ones you mentioned but hasn't held serve with this one which is why i say make more if you're gonna move slow and only have cliffhangers at the end, and then maybe have 1 episode of pure action for an entire season then what's the point?
character development is 1 thing, but we didn't learn anything about anyone last episode that we didn't already know
they didn't even get into the family in depth
just general stuff
do we need to wait for this episode to get their true back story and have their flashback and then episode 4 get into some action? lol

Right...I thought I heard wrong @ 1st but then he was like 1 down 5 to go or some shit like that and to add insult to injury he said them shits were deep so it's not like he saw them...for real how the fuck was he able to give a specific number?????

The shows biggest problem is the writers can't put together a sensible narrative. Look at the premiere you have a 12 year old girl with no food,water or weapons get lost in the woods full of random walkers and that's the episode where you slow things down and get all introspective.
There should have been a much greater sense of urgency given how much danger the kid was in but most of the characters still found time to sit aournd and deal with their various issues.
Then in the second ep the girl being lost basically becomes an afterthought with the boy being shot but there's still time for T-Dog to sit around bitching about his own meaningless situation.

Laurie is a bitch. At least her character is evolving. Even Shane be on some slick shit. I think the dumb ass writers will have her creeping with Shane the way this show is going.
We all are agreement T-dogg sucks. Always getting fucked up and always needing to be rescued. Him playing the race card was wack.
Andrea is losing it. She be getting swerved upped on by walkers way too easy. On the highway she was just chilling in the RV instead of helping the group gathering supplies when the herd came. Then in the forest the black walker creeped up on her like a pimp on a hunt for a ho.
Also Dale was too absent minded to warn Andrea on the highway when the herd appeared.
The girl's mother is racked with anxiety. She will be gone by this season.

I'm near the point where I may stop watching the show. Firing the writers from last season ended up being far worse than I expected.
I'm fine with them changing some aspects of the show compared to the comic but they have strayed so far from the source and essence of the walking dead that it is something else entirely and poorly constructed.

Very poorly written to be 13 episodes. So much wasted time. You can develop characters, situations and action at the same time. You don't have to waste 5 extra minutes with Shane consoling him about his son. We get the fucking picture......damn.....
I don't care if it sticks to the comic, just be creative and keep it moving. Every episode should be
" I don't believe that shit happened!" not .........

they cant afford hardcore.... you see we only had one zombie this episode.... the end was just a piece of next weeks episode they cut into this one cuz they knew it was boring.... look at the time of day, the sun is out at the house but its night where shane is...
