I grew up in AWA(Gagne, Bobwinkle) territory. Also the AWA was the umbrella promotion for the WWA World Wrestling Association which was an AWA satelite and saw guys like Bobo Brazil, Dick The Bruiser, The Crusher, Ray The Crippler Stevens, and Spike Huber So I grew up on the Gagne's, Nick Bobwinkle, Ken Patera, Baron Von Raske, Jesse Ventura, and Hulk Hogan before he blew up big in WWF in 1984. Speaking of WWF (pre Wrestlemania) I used to catch on WOR station based in Seacaucus NJ and thought they had a great product with the likes of Andre, Bob Backlund, Jimmy Snuka, Rocky Johnson, Don Muraco, Pedro Morales, the Wild Somoans, and the Strongbows. In the early 80's I was hooked on WTBS World Championship Wrestling(formerly Georgia Championship Wrestling) and was extremely geeked when Mid-South got on WTBS

, then I used to love visiting my family in Mississippi just to watch Mid-South Wrestling, Also our local channels channels also carried World Class Championship Wrestling(ran by the Von Erich's who controlled east texas and Southwest Championship Wrestling(Jose Lothario) which controlled western texas. I used to buy Pro Wrestling Illustrated back in day as well as other wrestling mags. I used to love Pro Wrestling Illustrated ranking position esecially the
Most Hated I was a huge Butch Reed fan and was impressed at how long he stayed # 1 on that list for a stretch of months in 1983 with his heel turn on JYD in Mid South. Easily the best heat for a black heel since Ernie Ladd turned heel in the late 1970's with famous heel turns on Cowboy Bob Ellis(1st heel turn I think) and Dusty Rhodes.
