This was a good series. I binged it Saturday. I saw Tom Cruise’s, Jack Reacher. I thought it was ok. This is better. I had no idea this is a book series. Jack Reacher is 6’5. I don’t know how in the hell they thought Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher was a good thing now that I know the history. Come to find out the purist rejected Tom Cruise’s adaptation because he is tiny and Reacher is 6’5. Lol. Cruise’s star power is that high still. I guess. I like the series much better. Good fight scenes.
I thought Cruise did a better acting job. Although I did like the series, I wish they had found a better actor.

I thought he did pretty good job. From listening to the book readers everything centers around him being a big guy and then a nonsense type of guy with analytical skills. Without knowing anything about the books, I thought Cruise did a good acting job, of course, but it wasn’t believable for the book readers because Reacher is a big presence.
First couple eps the acting is suspect, got a lot better as the season progressed. Looking forward to season 2
Tom is a one of a kind so it's unfair to even try to match star power like that

I thought the Black Panther fight between TChalla and Killmonger was pretty well choreographed..perhaps not their first first, but the last fight was good..jmo
One thing I did like about the movies was that Jack Reacher used the very distinctive KFM in his fights which adds a layer of expertise to his fighting due to obvious combat training. In the Amazon series, Reacher relies mostly on brute strength that is sometimes exaggerated. In one fight, he got cracked along the forearms multiple times with a crowbar which had no effect whatsoever afterward.

Enjoyed this series and the first episode was a perfect intro like yall said. Black dude is lowkey funny, white chick (Roscoe) is a 4 at best in the face and body but I guess she did the job, and I didnt like the old dude they used for Teal - too hallmark channel for me. He made things far to obvious. I aint 6 years old, shit! Fights sequences were top notch, and although the finishing move at the end was a bit too subtle. It took me a while to figure it out and then i was like HOLY SHIT.

Having read the books first, the sasquatch made the series much more believable. The script pretty much stayed true to the book as well. I have a good chunk of the audiobook series. I can upload what I have if there is any interest.
There is also side series that has an fbi agent tracking reacher because they believe reacher is a serial killer. I haven't listened to it so see if its any good. Not sure how long they want the series to run but they have plenty of material to work with as long as childs doesn't let them bastardize his baby.

The action thriller series debuted on the streamer just three days ago, on Feb. 4. It is based on the Jack Reacher novel series by Lee Child. The first season is based on the debut novel in the series, “Killing Floor,” which was released in 1997. Per Amazon, the show is already one of their top five most-watched shows of all time, though it must be noted that Amazon also does not provide viewership numbers.
Ritchson stars in the title role as Jack Reacher, a veteran military police investigator who has just recently entered civilian life. When he arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, he finds a community grappling with its first homicide in 20 years. The cops immediately arrest him and eyewitnesses claim to place Reacher at the scene of the crime. While he works to prove his innocence, a deep-seated conspiracy begins to emerge.

its about the story characters tell mid fight, choice of fight moves AND camera angle movement, blocking, and later editing
the problem with crowbar fight is a character w/o a legend or prior demonstration becoming the deadliest challenge to the hero
and the hero parrying knife strikes from soldiers but eps later can't parry crowbar strikes
both Kliner cousins had extreme plot armor/ white privilege
shit that wouldn't ever happen to Tom Cruise

I was VERY VERY confused by that
I had to do my usual rewrite in my head
This was always the one who we kinda thought was a psychopath he always seemed off
His fighting style wasn't born in technique training or discipline
He was a deranged animal and that threw Reacher off.
That's the best I got.
