It was never that they were the two best possible candidates... Just the two willing to run and that could get enough votes. No doubt there are better potential candidates out there but they are either too smart to put themselves in the mix or if they did, they wouldn't get the votes.

I highly recommend everyone take at least a basic Psychology class. The discipline is amazing and will both fascinate and scare you to death. The lengths our unconscious is willing to go, in-order to protect our fragile reasoning, ego, and beliefs are startling. I'm having discussions with Trump voters daily on another forum. They are freaking delusional. I said Trump Jr is a liar from a family of liars, he can't be trusted, he is just more polished than his family. One guy asked me how I knew he was lying and not the media. I said because he is the one denying meetings or contacts with Russia regarding Hillary for the past year, is on video saying it was disgusting to even suggest it, and then he freaking releases the emails stating they had a meeting about precisely that proving their denials for the past year were lies. Then he asks if I can't give him the benefit of the doubt about not remembering a meeting that was so long ago. I said YEAH, IF THIS WAS THE FIRST FREAKING TIME HE WAS ASKED ABOUT IT. He was asked about it a few weeks after the meeting, and he doesn't remember a meeting they required a translator in to proceed? SMH. Freaking lost I tell you.
This is not normally a characteristic of black churches. Promotion of education and social justice are intertwined in the culture. Wisdom is always emphasized, getting knowledge and understanding. Things could have changed from the time I was an active church goer, but churches have traditionally have served as a place of learning. They were always safe spaces. White congregations strike me more as fearful to the point they come across as believing something could emerge that would disprove or challenge the existence of God, but that has not been my experience in black churches.
