Nice! They finally figured something out with this

100 Bullets. Scalped lol. Most of these big comic series couldn’t get to or passed their pilots… and that’s probably a good thing for all of us lol… remember Y The Last Man? Nobody does lol

Right. HACKS. Its either go back and watch all the CURB episodes from around S5/6 through the finale that I haven’t seen and/or are hilarious enough for multiple views

Or check out something new to me like HACKS… I assume this is better than any of the other HBO/MAX comedy series? eg Righteous Gemstones… idk what all the fuck else lol.

Open to some fresh comedy suggestions that are just hella funny for real

I heard BARRY for example is hella depressing/violent and serious etc down the stretch

Hacks is flawless to me.

I haven't seen all of Barry but @Helico-pterFunk recommended it so that's all I need. Saw the first 4 episodes and it was real good.

I chilled on Curb but saw the finale which was good. I'm going to go back and finish it off.

What works really well with Barry is the mix of dark comedy, drama & brutal violence. Even more impressive is knowing Bill Hader directed a large portion of the final season as well.

Hell ... in the prior 3rd season there’s a great chase scene which would work in any movie, which also incorporates silly comedy which makes you laugh mid-intensity. Those short running times work well too. Each season is basically 2 movies in length.

I haven’t had a chance to give Big Door Prize a look yet.

Hacks is well written. Not really laugh out loud funny. Think a Joan Rivers-style comic butting heads with a 20-something comic writer.

Barry is actually quite good. I
kept reminding myself Hader is a comic actor given how dark and serious it can get. That to me is impressive. “Sally” is well acted in the latter seasons too. Good range of emotions portrayed.

Sugar is worth watching. It doesn’t veer off course too much in the last few eps. Good role for Farrell. Episodes are often in the low 30 mins. You can get through the season pretty fast, if interested. I liked the assorted supporting cast. There wasn’t much character development with ‘em, but who cares? Maybe if they do a 2nd season they’ll have more ...

The Curse is interesting. I'm just 1 episode behind at the moment, but it's a slow burn & very cringe / awkward. It's NOT lol funny. Well acted though as a faux doc' / mockumentary of sorts, with an underlying tone of dread. As a viewer you're not quite sure where they're taking you ... but you have a feeling it won't be good for several characters. I was really happy to see one of the casting decisions as well. Not gonna spoil it - but it's the person who plays the 2 girls' father. Really happy to see them on screen.

Bookie is good and is an easy watch. First 2 episodes clocked in under 30 mins apiece. I liked the characters involved in the world of sports betting thus far.

I haven't seen any episodes of Lazarus Project, but I'm glad you are enjoying it & I have heard good things in the past year or two.

Yes - looking forward to Reacher's return next week. Season 1 was a pleasant surprise. Had that small world feel to it, despite being backed by a major player in Amazon. And it's reassuring when studios and networks already renew shows for a follow-up season before the newest season has yet to arrive. Shows that they are backing the product and like where things are headed and expect a solid response from viewers.
I forgot about BOOKIE!

Top of my list - thanks again!

I started Sugar earlier today and almost immediately remembered TOKYO VICE needs to be bumped up on my watchlist haha!

YALL ALWAYS got a nigga covered!

Appreciate the details on Barry too. I’ve seen I think 2-4 episodes of S1 but maybe less and just wasn’t in the right mind for something that seemed like it could easily have been cancelled early lmfao. Glad it got full run!

Most of the pre rise of the Empire stories I have read have mainly been in comics and novels so it is cool to see a show based in the aforementioned era. A couple of good twists so far but I can't say I'm completely engaged but I'm curious to see how things will play out with several characters. As usual the creature and set designs are on point.

Clipped

I think Doc Rivers only partially knew what he was getting into when he took on the coaching job for the Los Angeles Clippers. He didn't know how much of a racist team owner Donald Sterling was,Sterlings attachment to his delusional mistress V Stiviano, how some of the team weren't getting along and how Sterlings wife Shelly had had enough of Stiviano. Some of the actors they chose to play certain basketball players are unintentionally funny . I have doubts about a couple of things stated in the series but overall I'm enjoying the acting and the flow of the episodes

Bookie was a nice surprise. Legit very funny given the assorted characters and dumb comedy mixed with serious consequences.

Barry is a very good watch. Definitely a well-told story. Hell, some of the violence is downright chilling for a “comedy”. My brother saw 1 ep and said he was sold. Pops and coworkers also really liked the full series.

Let me know if you get around to season 2 of Dark Winds. We really liked it. The main cast felt really lived in. And Zahn McClarnon is one of my fave actors on TV. Glad to see him get shine with Fargo and Res’ Dogs too. Good dude.
