Exterminate All the Brutes
2021

9/10

I finished watching this documentary series on MAX this afternoon while sitting at a loading dock.

I had stumbled upon it last year while surfing thru MAX and just got around to watching it this weekend.

It’s a 4 part series with each episode running about one hour each.

This docu-series could be viewed as a companion to the well known series “Guns, Germs and Steel”. The series does reference that title. What makes this series different is the origin of White dominance in world society.

It’s based on works by three authors and scholars — Sven Lindqvist's Exterminate All the Brutes, Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz's An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States, and Michel-Rolph Trouillot's Silencing the Past.

It covers European aggression that kicked in during the Crusades with Europeans not fighting for Christianity, but fighting for dominance over Muslims who totally controlled the Silk Road. From here the documentary goes thru the centuries of Europeans domination in the America’s and Africa.

It somewhat points out how natives of the America’s and Africa did not take Europeans seriously and did not see them as a threat. Even China, who created gun powder, basically took an isolationist approach to Europeans and never made an effort to use the technology to defend themselves from European aggression.

I’m not gonna go into it, but a lot of information is dropped that surprised me and that I was completely unaware of.

The documentary came out in 2021 and covers up to 2019. So events from the Pandemic to today is not covered. But after watching the series, you will have a different perspective on the Pandemic, the Migrant situation in the U.S. and Europe and other places, the Wars in Ukraine and Isreal and the hostilities thruout Africa and the Middle East. U.S. domestic policies going on today, you will quickly start having a different opinion.

There are a number of live re-enactments that take place that seem odd when you first start seeing them, they make sense as the series plays out. The series also does a fabulous job on using graphics to tell the story.

This is a must see series if you have not seen it. And it’s a series that everyone should watch. Including Whites along with groups like Jews, Latinos, Asians and others that are currently trying to get “Buddy/Buddy” with White society.

Synopsis

An exploration of the exploitative and genocidal aspects of European colonialism, from America to Africa, and its impact on society today.

I feel like i'm in the minority of ppl I personally know that just never liked the binge release schedule and always prefer the weekly release schedule. I'm also cool with the release schedule some platforms do with certain shows where they'll release the first 2 or 3 eps for the first week and then once a week for the rest of the eps. Usually after watching the first 2 or 3 eps I'll know if its a show to add to my weekly schedule

I agree. It’s also hard to keep up with everything with full release schedules. I don’t mind having stuff play out over 2 months.

And those 2 to 3 episode drops are great at the start with fans and critics alike. They are less likely to harshly judge a pilot or premiere when they get additional context as to where a season may go with plot lines.

Just started Monsieur Spade...

This is my kind of show

Glad you're liking it, Playa.

Watched it with pops. Recommended it to a few coworkers, and mom liked it with her boyfriend.

Good, slow burn ... pops wasn't too familiar with Clive Owen's work, but said he would have made for a good Bond 15 - 20 years ago with more physicality. Has a good screen presence.

Poppa H is 100% right

I recommend Children of Men Inside Man Shoot Em Up Sin City and Croupier

I will always remember how great the cast was in the 1990 movie
The cast for the series is pretty good too and some good performances
are already in place in the first 2 episodes.
In the series they are stacking the decks more against Rusty Sabich (Jake Gyllenhaal)
politically, psychologically and personally. Off to a very good start

ACOLYTE EPISODE 3 REV

Episode 3 definitely had some cheesy moments
from the chanting to the twins being ultra obnoxious.
Mae wants revenge against the 4 Jedi because her "family" was killed by a fire she started to kill her sister? I guess she rationalized it as a cause and effect factor. The Jedi came to my home ,wanted to train my sister, which angered me so yeah its their fault (?!?)
All of that being said the episode opens some interesting ideas about the Force and Force sensitive beings. How many use it and aren't Jedi or Sith? Did the Witches really die from the explosion or fire? Doesnt explain the Jedi ULTRA guilt Now i want to know if there are any books or any type of story in which a Force sensitive being used the Force for their own personal gain and didnt care to be a Jedi or Sith and rejected both groups.
I hear episode 4 is much better looking forward to it.

BRATS

I loved all of those teen age angst...slowly going into being an adult movies
Andrew McCarthy who was very much a part of this era of movies directs this
documentary and it's fun watching him reach out to his former co stars to be
a part of it and how they felt about the movies and being labeled a brat packer
There's some funny behind the scenes stuff from the movies that i never knew about

Good suggestions!

I will recommend 3 of them to him. I have seen 2 with him. Sin City on dvd, and Inside Man at an advanced screening.

I need to rewatch Sin City one day. I was half asleep watching the 1sf time and didn’t fully appreciate the stylistic visuals and notable cast involved.
