So also.. HOW GOOD IS VALENTINA?!!

A fighter who can fight at 125 facing a fighter who just went up to 145 , and going the distance TWICE, Arguably winning the second one?!

The two best women fighters are holding those titles. Period.

Agreed. Shows just how good they both are to have competitive fights both times. Valentina being able to compete at 125/135. Amanda at 135/145.

And seeing how much WORSE other competitors have done against the likes of people like Cyborg, Joanna & others.

I wonder how many years Cyborg has left (hasn't taken much damage over her career) ... but she probably wouldn't fare much better in a rematch with Nunes. It might take Amanda longer the 2nd time around, but she'd probably still have her #.

He's a great fighter but he should keep his mouth shut when it comes to Jones. Just my opinion. A lot of the time he talks like he won either of the fights...

I mean my thing is Jon asked him what he was gonna do about that high kick, said(in so many words) he work on defending it but he’s weak in that department only to be taken out by that move....

Texted my brother yesterday and asked him who he wanted to see Jones face in the near future. He suggested Thiago Santos ...

Gotta keep my eye on this guy. I remember him from another fight but didn't see this one. Seems like a cool guy. Wants to fight Ike Perry. Let's see it!

wow that was some ol skool mortal combat finish her type shit...

devastating...

Still processing the victory the morning after. What a performance. We were stunned at the fight party. People were talking about their predictions for the fight. Most people were thinking it would be a rd 1 or 3 TKO or KO for Cyborg. I was thinking Cyborg in the 3rd or 4th, or Amanda by decision. But Amanda within 1 minute in dominant fashion? Damn!

never thought Id ever see her get demolished like that.. but gotta give cyborg credit tho..

she came to fight an kept coming till she couldnt anymore..

but truth be told, she gonna have to up her boxing and kick set up game....if she wants to continue to dominate..

she aint gonna be able to just bogart a chick coming at her like that like she used to...

thats one of them fights where there is not even a need for a part two....

unless cyborg could beat a chick that could beat the one that just demolished her..

other than that.. there is no need for a rematch....

Agreed. Don't want to see a rematch too quickly. Amanda's got the firepower to stand with her, and isn't afraid (especially now). Cyborg's used to being the alpha ... but Nunes stepped to her and fought her like a true fighter and didn't play it safe & timid. Glad to see the sportsmanship from Cyborg in defeat. Nunes' gf is doing her thing these days too - some nice wins lately (9-2 in her past 11 fights) -

I'm ready to see it. I've seen Cyborg BOX. She didn't last night. Apparently she has this habit of going ham once she gets hit and it usually works for her , so she went to that well again. This time she came up short. She spars with Clarissa Shields. She can make corrections and get to that 3rd with Amanda where HER power will take over and Amandas will be drained.

Also, Amanda did note that Cris stands heavy on her lead leg, and she gave her a wallop on that shit to start out. That may be a problem, but I think overall, theres a game plan in there for Cyborg. I'm still shocked she turned into the old Cyborg at this time. She's been much smarter than that with less heavy hitters.

I wonder how Amanda would do in women's boxing.

I wouldn't mind seeing her against some more seasoned strikers. Wonder who Nunes trains with at ATT as main training partners? Good point about Cris standing heavy on her lead leg. Interesting seeing Cyborg trying to swarm and press forward (as she was getting beaten with the striking). Would have been interesting had she tried to disengage and retreat ... and if Nunes walked her down (for several minutes). That would have been something to see. I was on the edge of my seat when Nunes was along the fence trading shots with Cyborg.

They say Amanda fights with dudes. And they stressed that some people just SAY that, but she really does lol.

I didn't have an expectation for that fight. I picked Cyborg but I knew Amanda had a real shot. I had seen Cyborg get rocked before when she did that Muay Thai fight , but they get an 8 count on that. She just fought stupid. But for someone who had learned to fight smart even when she didn't have to, I know she just lost to her ego this time. Not saying she can't lose another way, but this was unnecessary lol. She'll be back. If she loses another, no problem, just give Amanda her respect. I love how cyborg took the loss though.

Much respect to her. I liked how Cyborg took the loss too. Gave Amanda a big hug when she was lying on her back crying & celebrating the major win. Lol @ others saying that (re: gym training) but Amanda actually scrapping with some of them. Someone's gotta ask Poirier, Lombard, and others what her gym battles are like!

Meant to ask you (and others) too ... which MMA shows/podcasts do you listen to?

I watch Luke Thomas sometimes, even though he gets on my nerves at times. He tends to run on. I HATE Robin Black.

I listen to Matt Serra, of course Joe Rogan if you count that, parts of Schaubs--- and I catch clips of this fine ass chicks breakdowns

Sometimes I tune into coach Shelton Harrison. He's funny and he tends to focus on women.

Thanks for the Youtube clips.

Robin Black definitely tries to make things sound smarter, or more scientific than they actually are. Preferred him in smaller doses on the Fight Network panel in Toronto alongside John Pollock and John Ramdeen. Listened to John Pollock's MMA podcast for several years. Don't think he does it anymore though (last show was last year update-wise).

Matt Serra's energy is good. He's walked the walk and talked the talk too. Competed, coached, etc. Good to see him doing well. I'm enjoying Luke Thomas' work with the new format of The MMA Hour. Him and Danny Segura have found their groove with the show now and have good discussions. Like you said ... Luke is long-winded, but definitely knows his stuff. He's great for putting out content. Hosting that show, the MMA Beat on Thursdays ... his own Sirius show a handful of times a week ... and occasionally putting additional content on his Youtube channel.

I added my MMA show/podcast recommendations a few replies up (before replying to your post here) ^

Thanks. Anik and Florian's a good one. Great to see Anik doing well. We used to follow him way back in the day on that ESPN MMA show (he cohosted it with Florian, Franklin McNeil, etc). That was probably around 2008/2009 if I remember correctly. Somewhere around there. Would stream it online. Then he did his Bellator commentating work ... and for years now in the UFC.

I've been checking out more of the ESPN MMA clips on Youtube lately. The stuff from Ariel, Brett Okamoto, and Cheater P. Sonnen.

Never quite know where he's coming from on those mean streets of Oregon, lol. I give him credit for his hustle though ... fighting & color commentary with Bellator ... his podcast ... the ESPN mma work with Helwani, Okamoto, etc. He stays collecting checks. Okamoto's good people too. I need to go back and listen to his podcast too. Think I last listened in the spring. Currently listening to The TSN MMA Show. It's based out of Toronto. Hosted by Aaron Bronsteter (MMA media) and "Bazooka" Joe Valtellini (former Glory fighter & current color commentary guy for them). Catching up on some of their past episodes from December.
