Damn... Demian Maia/Ben Askren fight was damn good. Askren took another nap in the octagon after being choked out. 2 loses in a row.

Decent card for sure. Roberson just had a hell of a win after that nasty eye poke. Kopylov came at him hard after that glove touch. Trying to take advantage of Roberson not being able to see. Roberson shut that shit down quick and subbed his ass. Brilliant fight!

Yeah.... Just saw that. Good for him. It was time and now he can get his health in order and enjoy the rest of his life. He has a lot of irons in the fire.

Definitely should focus on teaching, coaching, seminars & other business ventures that he's had on the go for some years. If he had chosen to continue competing, he'd rack up a good number more Ls.

Im probably in the minority, but I actually like watching Askren fights. Especially when he was in Bellator. His wrestling was on some other world shit. He was making decent looking fighters beg the ref for help.....he absolutely destroyed current bellator champ Lima. His big mistake was his ego. He should have went straight to the ufc, instead of wasting time in OneFC

Well said. Wasted too much time in OneFC. He was surprisingly good in Bellator. That Lima fight was an eye-opener given how solid a fighter Lima has been otherwise.

WHITTAKER WITHDRAWS FROM UFC 248 BOUT VS. JARED CANNONIER
According to a report from ESPN, former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker has withdrawn from a proposed but against Jared Cannonier due to undisclosed personal reasons. Promotion officials are seeking a replacement opponent so that Cannonier can remain on the card.

UFC 248 takes place on March 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and features a strawweight championship tilt between Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The event does not yet have an official headliner.

Whittaker was set to return for the first time since losing the middleweight crown to Israel Adesanya via second-round knockout at UFC 243 this past October. Prior to that, the 29-year-old Australian had compiled a nine-bout winning streak within the Las Vegas-based promotion.

Cannonier, meanwhile, has found success since moving to middleweight from 205 pounds. “The Killa Gorilla” has earned three consecutive KO/TKO finishes of David Branch, Anderson Silva and Jack Hermansson to establish himself as a new contender in the division.

I don't think Blachowicz vs Jon Jones is the fight to make... I'm just not really interested. Rematch vs Reyes should happen.

Dana White says Tony Ferguson-Justin Gaethje to headline UFC 249

With Khabib Nurmagomedov in Russia and facing potential travel issues, Tony Ferguson will now meet Justin Gaethje in the main event of UFC 249 on April 18, UFC president Dana White tweeted Monday. The fight for the interim lightweight title is "signed" and "100%" on, White wrote.
The location of UFC 249 remains undisclosed. White tweeted that the fight will be "somewhere on EARTH!" ESPN's Ariel Helwani reported Sunday night that the UFC is targeting a venue on the West Coast for the card. It will more than likely take place in front of no fans.

White later said in an interview with ESPN he has had the card "locked up for two months" and that he was "going to continue to pump fights out."

"I've also secured an island. I've got an island," White told ESPN. "The infrastructure is being built right now. We're going to do all of our international fights on this island. When we do this fight on April 18, international and U.S., we're going to start cranking. The UFC will be back up and running internationally and the U.S."

Ronaldo Souza out of UFC 249 after testing positive for coronavirus

Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, who was scheduled to fight Uriah Hall at UFC 249 on Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida, has tested positive for the coronavirus.

UFC immediately pulled Souza, 40, from the event, but it still plans on moving forward with the rest of the pay-per-view lineup. UFC said two of Souza's cornermen also tested positive.
"UFC's medical team examined Souza and his two cornermen and found them to be currently asymptomatic, or not exhibiting the common symptoms of COVID-19," the promotion said in a statement. "As per UFC's health and safety protocols, all three men have left the host hotel and will be self-isolating off premises, where UFC's medical team will monitor their conditions remotely and will provide assistance with any necessary treatment."

Souza, who lives and trains in Florida and drove to Jacksonville on Wednesday, informed UFC officials upon his arrival about a family member who might have been infected with the coronavirus. At that point, according to UFC, Souza was tested and monitored. He made weight during the official weigh-ins Friday morning and participated in a distanced staredown with Hall, wearing a mask and gloves, before receiving his positive results.

UFC 251: Gilbert Burns out of Fight Island main event after testing positive for COVID-19, per report

The Fight Island era of UFC events is off to a rocky start as Gilbert Burns has tested positive for COVID-19 and is out of his planned UFC 251 main event with Kamaru Usman, MMA Junkie reported late on Friday. The news comes just one week before the fighters were set to square off in a main event clash for Usman's UFC welterweight championship

Burns had become something of a poster-boy for the UFC's COVID era, emerging victorious in bouts against Demian Maia and former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley to earn his shot at Usman and the welterweight title at UFC 251. The pair are longtime teammates, but when financial negotiations broke down between the UFC and Jorge Masvidal, Burns got the call for a third fight in a five-month stretch.

After a training camp in Florida, Burns and his camp flew to Las Vegas, one of four "hub cities" from which fighters will fly to Abu Dhabi for the four events on what the UFC has dubbed "Fight Island." Upon arrival in Las Vegas, Burns, his brother Herbert and one of his coaches reportedly tested positive for the virus.
Upon Burns being pulled from the event, Usman also did not board his flight to Abu Dhabi with uncertainty swirling over whether the fight will be rescheduled or if the UFC would manage to pull a replacement opponent to challenge for the welterweight championship.
