If Ukraine (the largest country in Europe, as well as the biggest producer of food (grain)) comes under Putin's thumb, those countries can either fall in line with Russia, or face significant backlash in the form of food and fuel shortages. 50-60% of shells fired off and mines layed have been from stockpiles dating back to the Cold War era Ukraine’s Air Force is Cold War equipment and aircraft and Russia can’t get air superiority with next gen aircraft
