Unfortunately the rumors are true, baseball icon RICKEY HENDERSON is DEAD (1958-2024). This is sad, RIP...Mr. Henderson.

I loved watching Rickey play. One of the greatest.
I love how he always referred to himself in the third person. He was a great player. RIP.

Used to watch this dude when he would pop up on TV because he looks just like my dad!
I mean, my pops got 8 brothers & sisters & NONE of them look close to how Rickey Henderson looked to him.
Used to tease my pops about that all the time.
As I got older & became the Padres fan I am today, I learned about how great this man was. Probably the greatest leadoff batter of all time.
Thank you for the legacy (nobody's breaking that stolen bases record), the entertainment (cause he always spoke in third person & used to misunderstand 90% of what someone would say to him...which always turned out humorous) & the memories.
Give my pops a nudge when you get up there.

I just saw this on my homeboy’s Facebook page and I’m stunned…
I’m rarely stunned.
Out of all the players I watched, he was the coolest to me because his best stat had nothing to do with the bat or ball, directly: he career playing baseball, but he made his job stealing bases.
He looked like he don’t give fck but treated you fair and that attitude, in a A’s uniform, to a kid from the South, was all I needed to see to give ‘em hell at the age I am now.

RIP Ricky Henderson, one of the best to ever do it. Tiant still has the same mustache.
I remember as a kid, watching when he broke the stolen bases record, how he held up the stolen bases and got on the mic and proclaimed himself to be "the greatest"....such an awesome player to watch. I miss classic baseball. R.I.P. King. I used to collect baseball cards when I was young and always was happy when his card was included in the decks I got.
I have a few of his (Topps and Do Russ) laying around. Have to dig through them but I know I have them.RIP.......dude made me a fan of the A's when he played....
The one baseball card i had of his was stolen.
I wonder if there is one in these packs of Donruss cards from the late 80's that i've been holding onto that i've never opened......
