I think Biden never intended to run a second term, knowing how the primary process is rigged for an incumbent president. He got nominated so he could then drop out and pick his successor, which was Kamala Harris. if he had dropped out earlier, she would've not stood a chance in a primary with other strong candidates who would've gotten the money that is now in the coffers of the Biden campaign.
If the Democrats want to be a uni party, they can't play games like this with their primaries or people will turn to Republicans. If a candidate is selected by party insiders who then uses this power to influence pedal, then they are setting themselves up for failure.
