Having different interests shouldn't classify a person as a nerd, but unfortunately it does.
And in my opinion the word need isn't a positive, it's an insult unless it's used as saying that a person's smart.

Substitute the word "nerd" for "nice guy" or "alt-Black" or what ever, that's why I said I wasn't talking about the Urkel or Carlton types to try stay away from any negative connontations that would naturally repell a girl or woman from a boy or man. I also want to acknowledge that people have the right to date whomever they want and choice of the word "nerd" was probably poor on my part but once again, eggshell environment when dealing with a topic like this.
But at the same time I've been on Lipstickalley (cue dramatic music) and women have openly stated in topics that concern celebs or other public figures who are in interracial relationships that Black women may have just not been checking for them and that was probably a factor in those men going the direction they did. That is what actually spurred my thought.
This is BGOL, there's no need for the eggshell treatment on any topic.
And yes, there's traits etc that some Black men have that in general some\many or most Black women wouldn't check for.
We see them and can identify it too, but that's just who those men are.
But there are some Black women who would be attracted to them, their personalities and their traits.

I think there aren't REALLY any eggshell conversations if all parties participate in good faith.
I used to work for the catholic diocese, women's shelters, foster care. I've asked things and been asked things this new generation would spontaneously combust if they heard.
Like I said I was a nerd nice guy.

The issue is really not about nerds. The original issue goes back to Black women and their choices. Read my reply at post #1,933 where I detail that this thought was spurred on by something Black women said on a Black woman's forum, in which Black women openly admitted to possibly missing out on a guy because he was perceived to be nerdy/nice/lame/different.

Europeans are not "white" and Africans are not "black". Race is not a scientific fact but an invented social construct created for the subjugation of a people. If you can trace back your heritage to a specific country of origin that skin color designation does not apply to you. Example Barack Obama is not a black person. We as black people waste was too much time on sports, playing and watching it. Too many of our children waste way too much time playing it thinking they are going to the pros, when approximately .03% will make it there. Of the .03% that make it to the pros, over half go broke and file bankruptcy. It's a waste of time. If we spent half the time and energy learning a profession or trade and/or starting a business, we'd be much better off. Meanwhile other cultures have already figured this out.

To be fair, in a system of white supremacy, if the only successful black people you see around you and on TV are athletes and entertainers, you are likely to believe that is your only path to being successful in life.
I disagree, and hate that people believe this angle. There are black people all around us living a successful, satisfying lifes. The issue is that they are not flashy and do not show what some people consider to be success, i.e., the fancy clothes, nice cars, big homes.
There are so many educators, engineers, scientist, etc that you walk by you every day at a store and you have no idea who they are b/c they are not flashy.
Our culture is not limited to entertainers and athletes, this line of thinking is exactly why the powers of white supremacy use coons like Shaq, SAS, Barkley to push negative narratives, and aid in bringing black people down. It’s because our communities hold celebrities at too of high of a value.
Just because they are athletes and entertainers does not mean they speak for us. I don’t give a fuck what Steve Harvey thinks about politics. I will do the research and make a sound discussion based of what I think and what aligns with my values and interests.
There is a reason you don’t see a microphone or a national platform reaching out to Justin Timberlake or Tom Brady asking them what they think of the Dana White incident. That culture understands those guys are just entertainers who entertain and sell products, no one in that community really give a fuck about their thoughts and values outside of that. (Unless they are speaking a something a black person did ie Drew Brees)
