I don't get your point.

The earliest recordings we have our women at the hearth.

Owning a restaurant doesn't mean your a chef.

I took what he was saying as more that the belief of women in the kitchen, women cooking... as the best food.

Doesn't hold up in his experience.

And I was supporting his point that in many cultures if you are REALLY looking it's the men that cook and do a damn good job.

And I've heard this from many women.
- home chef to professional

you said

We have countless 5 star restaurants, schools, books and TV shows that support that.

thats what I was addressing with the business line.

As in what?

For his career he's been called pass first and not a scorer. But he's the leading scorer on his teams and when the team needs a bucket, the ball's in his hands.

What I'm saying is a positive not a negative.
i think because lebron is more balanced in his game as a scorer and passer compared to pure scorers.

What Black leaders?

In all seriousness, who are the "Black Leaders"?
Good question, but why when someone throw shade at the Jews there's a backlash. When they do this to African Americans it's like Oh he's very colorful but is a gentleman (I remember those cacs saying that about jessie helms).

Oh ok I thought you were saying he JUST a scorer. I completely agree

My take on him is this...

Respect to Jordan Russell Kareem Bird Magic Kobe

But no nba player

Actually no modern professional athlete

Has been under more criticism scrutiny and pressure than Lebron

I'm talking since GRADE SCHOOL to NOW

And add the 24 hour media cycle, ESPN, social media and the rise of the right wing.

Nobody outside Ali who is the gold standard.

and what makes him even more ill?

The longevity of excellence

And actually EXCEEDING the ridiculous expectations placed on him as a child.

Yeah and I stand by that.

White men of course can open restaurants mad easy that isn't a surprise.

I don't think gender is the primary part of that.

But watching food network cooking channel cookbooks its been a serious number of men in that space especially with modern cuisine food trucks pop ups.

I'm not sure I understand what your point was. Because there WAS a time when women ran professional kitchens and they still do.

I'm just saying I agree men probably cook better despite an out dated idea that it's women work.

In all seriousness

Bgol dudes be dropping some good questions on occasion.

This would be a great documentary about men and cooking throughout history and culturally.

But at the same time?

It's silly argument to have.

Any Italian home will tell you their pops was wicked in the kitchen

Black American men got that grill

Latin Brothers throw down too with the whole roast fish

And the list goes on.

I hate generalization because it can be abused so much

But in this case it's to show how all stereotypes while based on SOMETHING real

Are bullsh*t in the end.

Some PEOPLE can cook some can't and despite the stereotype men not only can cook well, but enjoy it and attract a lot women by doing it.

Working as far as getting our people to do it? Unfortunately we're too far gone right now for us to even put this in motion. If we ever came to our senses & truly looked how dire our future is, this should be on the table.

Of course we'll survive.. when I say dire I'm talking about our situation financially & lack of developing a more unified mindset. It's 2023 but there's really been no progress the past 50+ years in those areas.

We do have this in a quasi sense - people from church hooking up other church folk; my circle of friends hook me up with their circle of friends; frat brothers know these set of shorties, etc. So some form of vetting is in place, but it is just not formal. Once out of college and I would say mid-20's, then those layers of vetting disappear and peeps are more or less on their own as far as finding a mate. Dudes want to bang as much as possible and chicks want a bad boy until it's time to settle down.

I do agree with you, but the cat is already out of the bag. Can we put the genie back into the bottle?

What you're talking about is really what people call "assortative mating."

I disagree, and hate that people believe this angle. There are black people all around us living a successful, satisfying lifes. The issue is that they are not flashy and do not show what some people consider to be success, i.e., the fancy clothes, nice cars, big homes.

There are so many educators, engineers, scientist, etc that you walk by you every day at a store and you have no idea who they are b/c they are not flashy.

Our culture is not limited to entertainers and athletes, this line of thinking is exactly why the powers of white supremacy use coons like Shaq, SAS, Barkley to push negative narratives, and aid in bringing black people down. It’s because our communities hold celebrities at too of high of a value.

Just because they are athletes and entertainers does not mean they speak for us. I don’t give a fuck what Steve Harvey thinks about politics. I will do the research and make a sound discussion based of what I think and what aligns with my values and interests.

There is a reason you don’t see a microphone or a national platform reaching out to Justin Timberlake or Tom Brady asking them what they think of the Dana White incident. That culture understands those guys are just entertainers who entertain and sell products, no one in that community really give a fuck about their thoughts and values outside of that. (Unless they are speaking a something a black person did ie Drew Brees)
You must be light skin. Statistics HEAVILY disagree with you.

I think there are such a thing as bad jokes.

And it just can't be put on the audience as being too sensitive.

While that does exist.

Recently there was controversy over a Nipsey joke on family guy.

I got it. It was harsh. But I got it because with good risque comedy there is truth to it that can sting but hopefully there isn't an evil streak.

But even with that?

Race and racism still is an important factor consider the source.

So when I heard this specific joke which is so personal for me that only a handful of vets here understand

I had to check myself

Was I being hyper sensitive because it targeted me?

Or was it in fact a very poor attempt at humor?

I think it was all of the above.

And what made it in poor taste and offensive is specifically because it made no sense and wasn't funny.

But again it's hard for me to objective.

I think that's OK.

The joke was bad, lame and didn't really make sense.

I understand what they were trying to say but it was a very poor joke.

Some jokes are bad and while true to some, it can still be a bad joke.

Yes some people can be overly sensitive, but it's a joke by joke and a case by case basis.

But that sickle cell joke was in poor taste and exceptionally bad.

Making a joke that predominantly only Black people get and using it in that form is not only not funny, it's in very poor taste.

And whoever wrote that joke knew exactly what sickle cell was and who it affected to make that joke.

Trust me I like to laugh like everyone else but I can tell if a joke was in poor taste.

To white people who saw the outpouring for Nip and not knowing who he was that Family Guy joke's exactly how they feel.

To the people who know who he was and listened to his music it was offensive.

Are we being overly sensitive because they're joking about his life, death and what he meant to many?

Yeah I did to.

I'm really fascinated by this topic now.

Also to be completely transparent?

I never watched another episode of that Velma show after I heard that sickle cell joke.

He compared Tucker to a disease that no one likes and that only fucks with Black people, that's funny.

That Velma jokes was poorly done, in poor taste, not funny, didn't really make sense and the worst part about it is that it wasn't funny.

Anything can be joked about, if it's funny and not in poor taste.

As someone active in the community I am legit shocked how much this negatively resonated in the community

People were actually hurt

Like their disease their pain is always a punchline associated specifically with black suffering

NEVER anything else

Like I said I was trying so hard NOT to appear "sensitive " that I ended up being insensitive

And doing what I hate

Giving white folk that golden benefit of the doubt despite any and all evidence to the contrary

And the creator ain't even "white"
