If you ask me Chris was actually giving her a plug to the producers of that film.
She should've embraced that joke by clapping it off, smile and say thank you to Chris as if saying " That's right they should consider me for the role.
And who knows what positive, fortuitous outcome would've landed in her lap from that simple gesture of gratitude.
A gesture like that would've took all the steam out a joke that she and her husband felt was insulting.
As far as she know film executives and producers may be in the audience or at the Oscar after parties and consider her for the leading role should they decide to do a GI Jane sequel.
