My dad is an electrician and I have installed too many to count outlets, ceiling fans, switches, and breaker boxes. Never knew about this hidden tool.

Wow. I haven't watched content from that channel in a minute. I never knew about the stripper function of those slots either but I have such a variety of strippers and pliers, I wouldn't have even thought to use the slot.

Also, nine times out of ten, I used to replace outlets with live wires. I'll kill the circuit for a ceiling fan or something, but replacing an outlet...hell, even circuit breakers themselves, I tend to do it on live wires/panels.

It's not a risk that I'd recommend that anyone take as a novice or a layperson. I'd just done so many over the years, I know what NOT to do to get myself fried.

At my age now and my sense of mortality, I do shit more carefully now. Pa Pa gotta be around for them crumb snatchers.

FUCK!!!!

I got water/mold in my basement! Fuck fuck fuck.

I don't even know where it originated since I hardly go down there. I don't know if it's from the recent rain or my water heater or my AC

It's on the wood, the drywall. Up the doorframe, puddles of water

All the best with that re: restoration. Let us know how it goes / what caused it.

How hard is it to replace a ceiling fan?

I fucked around and broke one of the arms holding a fan blade while swatting at a bug in the den. Tried to find a replacement arm but Craftmade doesn't make the ceiling fan anymore.

Not very hard if you take your time. Just done 3 at my house a few months ago. Turn off the power and make sure it's off! I've done about 50 fans and I can do it with the power on, but I do not recommend you do this. Get your basic tools ( screwdrivers, pliers, wire stripper, flashlight, etc) and a ladder that will allow you to reach the ceiling. Remove the old fan and take pictures of the wiring before disconnecting it. I recommend getting a brand name like Hunter as they can get you replacement parts and their quality / anti-wobble / noise levels are better. Make sure you have a good mounting box in the ceiling. If not, your fan may still wobble and need more adjustments. You can replace the box with an aftermarket box for about $20 that mounts securely to the studs. They can be installed from the attic, but there are some that can be installed from the fixture hole too. DO NOT reuse the old mount, use what comes with your fan. Then follow the simple instructions. Hunter and some other brands come with a quick mount and you can solo it. But I recommend a 2nd person, especially if you have high ceilings.

My God damn hot water heater. Ain't that a bitch? My water heater caused this

How often do you all walk around the entirety of your property? The entirety of your house? First floor, second floor, attic and basement?

This needs to become a thing for all of us homeowners. At least once every two weeks. Put it in your phone to remind you

Look at this bullshit. I had water pooling in my basement and I had no idea. I used to go down in the basement to hit the heavy bag, but ever since I got my Oculus in February I haven't had a need to hit the heavy bag so I haven't been in my basement since April

Sometime in the last month all of this happened. My hot water heater leaked and now there is mold in my fucking basement

At least once every two weeks, every homeowner needs to walk the entirety of their house to ensure there is no leakage anywhere. Catching it small before it gets big. This is going to cost me a grip

Right now I'm spraying a combination of bleach and water on the mold hoping to kill it. I just ordered another dehumidifier I'll be here on Thursday with hopes of drying out my basement

Do any of you have a tankless water heater?

How much did it cost?

What Brand did you get?

What's an easy to install yourself?

And how does it work for you?

Little copying and pasting for you bro!!!

Description
Tankless water heaters — also called instantaneous, continuous flow, inline, flash, on-demand, or instant-on water heaters — are water heaters that instantly heat water as it flows through the device, and do not retain any water internally except for what is in the heat exchanger coil.

Bleach won't kill the mold spore, it will keep coming back. There is a product called Concrobium, I've used it several times. It's good stuff!

Thank you. God damn hot water tank. My next move over the next couple days is to get a tankless water heater. That will take care of the leakage oh, but I still have to handle the mold spores

One thing I don't understand though, I have my TV box in the middle of the floor in my basement, how in the fuck did it get wet when the water from the hot water heater didn't extend out that far?

I'm trying to make sense of it and I can't

I've got the box for my 85 inch television and my 75-inch television and they're both wet at the bottom

With the tankless water heater, make sure you have a professional quote out your install. Depending on your pipes, you may need some extra work done to handle the tankless. Just do some research and get an estimate or 2....

Is the floor fully leveled or have an incline to the center? May have trickled down and the stream dried while the boxes remained wet.

I learned the floor in front of my washer/dryer has a barely noticeable incline that leads to the back door when I didn't close the filter properly and water flowed out in the next wash.

There is one in front my fridge too.

Is relatively level because the way it was situated in the middle of the floor what only makes sense for it to be wet is it the whole basement was flooded and I'm not getting that.

The only thing that I can think of is cardboard attracts moisture so it doesn't have to be super close to the moisture in order for it to get wet
