Season 3, good to me. U God dropped 4 bars one album up that point, still getting a check.
Season 3
Episodes 1 - 4
Watched these last night before going to bed.
Season starts immediately after the flooding in Rza’s house, which puts him into a straight tailspin cuz he lost a shit load of tracks for the upcoming albums all the group members have coming up with their individual labels. His relationship with his girl goes downhill with him stressing out trying to micromanage everything.
Divine also is stressing out trying to manage the groups finances and keeping their contracts from going into trouble. He too is having relationship problems with his girl.
Power is the cat focused on marketing with his hustle with the Wu-Gear trying to get a foot in the door in the fashion industry. He comes up with opening a store.
Raekwon and Ghostface get closer and start throwing out their ideas for their albums and style. We discover the relationship agreement between Ghost and Shurrie. It seems Shurrie has the “I Don’t Want To Know What Skanks You With” attitude with their relationship from what I have seen. RZA is not happy with it.
Mook is up to his old hustle. Ghostface figured out what he was doing but Mook made it clear his hustle was making the group money.
Drama has kicked up with Raekwon on Masta Killa appearing to be a full member of the group and getting equal compensation. It opens up a big conversation amongst the members on who should get what. It’s probably one of the best scenes in this series on how it plays out seeing them all together. They made it clear on how the scene was done, that it never was a “All For One, One For All” like how they presented themselves back in the 90s in interviews.
U-God son was shot, they left it with him taking off back to NYC abandoning the group while on tour. I suspect this kicks off his drama with the group.
A whole episode was dedicated to Dirty by making it a “70s Exploitation Style” episode. All the characters were in it playing different characters from their regular roles. The actor who plays RZA came off better as an actor than what he does as RZA. The episode is probably one of the best overall episodes giving a unique perspective of Dirty and his way of thinking and seeing things.
And we need complete information, pics, vids GIFs of those two birds Dirty had the sex scene with. That Sista was no joke when she entered the scene!
Poor casting and depiction of Busta Rhymes. I have no idea what they were doing. I had seen Busta up close one time in the 90s at the Colosseum Mall in Jamaica, Queens. He was pretty mellow and reserved and not acting out in his “Busta Rhyme” persona.
Bokeem Woodbine as “Don Cornelius” came out ok. The actor doing Puffy also was poor casting.
Overall, the season so far mainly focused on the business and financial side of the group’s success and how they were not prepared for it, being they have no idea what they are doing. We see it with how U-God responded to getting his first check and watching some in the group blowing their money on worthless “Nigga Trinkets”.
Gonna let a few episodes stack up again before watching.
Hell yes… I still got my purple tape. Love how the incorporated the skits from the album and the esoteric shit that only true hip hop headz would get…case in point when the chick was talking to Frank White Ghost told her “tell him you like to be shitted on”. My girl was disgusted… most likely because she’s on 22…but I was laughing my ass off because I got itYO!!...Ep 6 was fuckin epic!!..This was a damn good episode!!..It had pay homage and it was like watching a movie!!...This is the best episode so far this season!!...
Oh shit. Purple tape episode is fire.
is it that good? Why this show ain't even get nominated for awards?

Directed by Mario Van Peeples himself
Outstanding!!!!
Nas - Queens
Big L - Harlem
Fat Joe - Bronx
Frank White - Brooklyn
They character playing Nas was way off. Nice concept episode.
Season 3
Episodes 5 - 7
Watched these this afternoon.
Episode 5 picks right up with U-God running around looking for revenge for the shooting of his son.
The rest of Episode 5 is focused on the lower tier members of the group like Inspektar Deck, his story is interesting cuz I was never aware he tried to work on his own like that. Episode also showed how loyal he is with the group.
Masta Killa contemplates on his role in the group. I was laughing when that Old Cat was talking about the worth of his Medallion for that cab. Those Medallions ain’t worth shit in this era of ride-sharing. That Old Cat was part of the last wave to benefit from those things.
The scene with U-God, Deck and Killa in the Wu-Wear store was a good scene.
Pure Comedy with how Biggie’s “One More Chance” remix influenced Rae and Ghost to step up their game. That goes into episode 6 with the episode playing out like a 90’s “Straight To VHS” Hood Gangsta film. The episode is based around Raekwon’s “Only Built For Cuban Linx” album. Big Props to director Matthew Ross using the original soundtrack music instead of the actors doing it.
Episode 7 with Divine doing his best dealing with these cats in Wu-Tang to get shit moving and trying to get them on the same page. I always saw this cat in the videos in the 90s but never knew who he was and how much impact he had. I don’t recall ever reading any interviews with him. This episode clearly shows how shit just went downhill with these cats not getting their head out of their ass’ and realizing this was a business.
^^^^
Outstanding breakdown as usual.
Divine was in the mics and men documentary. And trust all his interviews are very revealing.
