Call Them Impractical, But the Original X-Men Costumes Are About Individuality

“Gritty realism” has been the name of the game for superhero movies for some time now. And although some of the X-Men films have been decent, the costumes have a glaring problem: mutant heroes clad in black leather are completely antithetical to everything the characters stand for.
For starters, flashy costumes tell us a lot about the characters’ backgrounds and relationships to each other. A unitard might seem ridiculous on Nightcrawler, until you consider that he was originally an acrobat. Likewise, it’s no coincidence that the costumes for Wolverine and Cyclops are essentially palette swaps, as they represent opposing methods of leadership.
But more importantly, the X-Men comics have often used the struggles of mutants as a metaphor for civil rights movements throughout the ages. In that way, colorful uniforms are a celebration of pride in being part of a marginalized group, a celebration that’s utterly lost when the mutants are dressed in identical suits that resemble motorcycle gear. This choice becomes especially confusing when other films—like Deadpool, or even Kick-Ass to a degree—are able to bring comic book costumes to life in a believable way.
The final nail in the coffin comes when kaptainkristian shows us some footage from behind the scenes of the first X-Men film: the actors are barely able to move in these drab leather bodysuits. For reasons practical and metaphorical, maybe Spandex was the way to go after all.
I will not be paying to see this because Jennifer Lawrence is the main star of the movie. Also can Sansa Stark even speak American english without her ghetto ass english accent?

Marvel has a more grounded approach to representing their hero's having bright ass spandex should be left in the comics and cartoons...They will have costumes close to the 90s era outfits. You see mystic wearing it but altered.
Marvel been using the same time line none stop with out having to do any reboots since 2003, the Xmen time line is also extensive and long, no way your going to merge the two at this point with out some major reboot..Even though this isn't Marvel, I want them to do good because unlike Spider-Man I don't anticipate them getting together with marvel to do a joint project

I don't like it either. I think she shouldn't even be wearing heels. Go with more of the ninja look. Or what she wears now.Psylocke wearing high heel pumps doesn't deserve to live
She doesn't like the process of having to sit for hours to apply the body paint and mskeup. She needs to take her A list celebrity ass and do something else. Her being such a key member in these films is a storytelling issue.not anticipating this at all. Funny they keep showing Jennifer Lawrence as a regular human to sell more tickets. This has a feel of x-men 3 where they killed a bunch of mutants off

If they were to actually do this in a movie it would look gay as fuck and silly...

If you haven't notice marvel tends to make their guys outfit more functional and less costume-ish and the X-Men are no different, they are more like powered solders rather than spandex wearing superheros rocking mask and looking like weirdos...while i agree a literal copy of wolverine from comic to screen wouldn't work we still manage to see adaptations like those of Spiderman, Captain America, Thor, Vision Superman, Batman, Flash, Deadpool and others stay true to costume color and style but for wolverine it would be an impossible task............ Why cause you don't like yellow?
Pure Bullshit.
if this is your sticking point then do tell what will they say about Black Panther? If you haven't notice marvel tends to make their guys outfit more functional and less costume-ish and the X-Men are no different, they are more like powered solders rather than spandex wearing superheros rocking mask and looking like weirdos...
Even the Avengers tone down their shit from the comics this is why Spiderman looks so strange in the trailer something that Tony mocks him with when calling him under-roos...
Even Captain America suit was mocked as being too superhero-ish...
Same thing, the Panther has a functional suit of armor not a fashion statement that say I'm cool... If you notice only Thor and the Vision wear capes in the Marvel movies (And Thor takes his off every opportunity he gets) and the very few that actually wear mask, most of them wear them as a form of protective armor..if this is your sticking point then do tell what will they about Black Panther?
sorry but thats laughable so panther cause he needs armor is ok in spandex armor but spidey who needs a light stretchable suit due to agility and powers is stupid just in spandexSame thing, the Panther has a functional suit of armor not a fashion statement that say I'm cool... Why would he need such a loud ass mask, and if the X-Men are a team of super solders why would he be wearing such a costume?sorry but thats laughable so panther cause he needs armor is ok in spandex armor but spidey who needs a light stretchable suit due to agility and powers is stupid just in spandex
and again please explain how wolverines yellow suit shouts "I'm cool" cause i think im sitting in the cheap seats and must of missed it.
