What? Elaborate don't give give me an emoji.
What did I say that was wrong.
The Xmen are "soldiers" even if they didn't start the war. They are under attack.
They train to use their powers offensively in the danger room!
That is a war drill. What you shaking your head at?

X- Force Are assassins!

I hope the Wolverine in the movie is a younger savage wolverine who doesn't even know the Xmen.

I think you need to rewatch X1 , 2 and 1st Class... Professor X makes it clear they are not soldiers

Avengers -some are vigilantes -some are still government agents

again - you are misinterpreting simple narratives: closest thing you got right is Magneto is training a defense force and possible future insurgents .
XMen are in school to learn control and safety to themselves and others and the function as ambassadors for mutant kind...
many times that means they are targeted by humans or mutants, most times when they get pulled into something its to protect a member that fell into trouble in some way too big for one or stumbled into a grand evil scheme.
Most times its defending against attack / very rarely do they go on an offensive - even in the movies trouble seeks them out first

that is not their mission- in the books Cyclops escalated it to that using the language Israel uses to protect all jews... in the end he and Wolverine parted ways because of it. =

In the movies and in the books their primary mission is to function as a school
secondary is a safe haven and research.
they never acted as a police or protective agency - but they will defend their own members students and faculty and protect the school
thats not a war room - its called the danger room
first part of the curriculum is to control their abilities, many of their talents are dangerous to themselves and others
after they have control then they have to learn discipline and control under stressful and dangerous conditions so that they would not endanger themselves or others under any circumstance - the by product of the training is learning to use their abilities defensivly and offensively if possible

Long Range Forecast: ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ & ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’
AUTHOR BOXOFFICE STAFF PUBLISHED APRIL 1, 2016 COMMENTS 0
longrange040116largea-860x450_c.jpg

One of the summer’s biggest box office battles is likely to take place on May 27 when both Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse and Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glassenter the marketplace over Memorial Day weekend. While 2010’s Alice in Wonderland was a stronger performer than 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, BoxOffice feels X-Men: Apocalypse should have the significant edge over Alice Through the Looking Glass in their upcoming box office battle.

X-Men: Apocalypse (Fox)

PROS:

– 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past helped rebuild the popularity of the X-Menfranchise with a four-day opening weekend take of $110.6 million and final domestic gross of $233.9 million. The film was also very well received by moviegoers and critics alike.

X-Men: Apocalypse has been performing well on Twitter this far out. Recent activity for the film has been 22 percent softer than Twitter activity for Deadpoolat the same point in its cycle earlier this year. In addition, X-Men: Apocalypse has been performing significantly stronger than Alice Through the Looking Glass on Twitter.

– While the stand-alone aspect of Deadpool may not transfer into a huge boost for X-Men: Apocalypse, the strong reception to Deadpool could provide a bit of a boost, especially given the strong reception to X-Men: Days of Future Past as well.

– The additions of Apocalypse, Psylocke and Archangel and the re-additions of Cyclops and Jean Grey should help further build anticipation for the film amongX-Men fans.

CONS:

– The level of competition X-Men: Apocalypse will face. In addition to opening the same weekend as Alice Through the Looking Glass, the film arrives just three weeks after Disney’s highly anticipated Captain America: Civil War and one week before Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Given that level of competition, there may only be so much room for improvement over the performance of Days of Future Past.

– Given how well received X-Men: Days of Future Past was by moviegoers and critics it will be tough for X-Men: Apocalypse to match the reception to that film.

Alice Through the Looking Glass (Disney)

PROS:

– 2010’s Alice in Wonderland had a break-out performance with a $116.1 million three-day debut and a final domestic gross of $334.2 million. While Alice Through the Looking Glass is likely to fall off significantly from that performance, it is a very high point to start from.

– His drawing power isn’t what it once was, but Johnny Depp is still a strong draw at the box office, especially when it comes to fantasy roles. And in a fairly similar situation (after a four-year wait in between films), 2011’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides performed well at the box office.

– Initial online reaction to the new “white rabbit” trailer for Alice Through the Looking Glass looks to be quite positive.

CONS:

– Opening against X-Men: Apocalypse will be tough. In addition, the film will also face competition for family audiences initially from Sony’s The Angry Birds Movieand from both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and fellow Disney release Finding Dory later in its run.

– The six-year gap between Alice Through the Looking Glass and its predecessor is likely to limit the film’s potential.

– Grosses for Alice in Wonderland were boosted significantly by the film’s 3D admissions, especially coming so soon after Avatar. The 3D boost to grosses forAlice Through the Looking Glass will likely be a lot less than it was for its predecessor.

Check out our complete long range forecast in the table below.

Sorry Superfans, Taylor Swift Is Not Making a Cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse
By: KENDALL FISHER
Fri., Apr. 29, 2016 1:33 PM PDT

The Internet went crazy with speculationover Taylor Swift making a cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse when producer Simon Kinbergtweeted a photo beside the singer and a few of the film's stars, including Sophie Turnerand James McAvoy, this summer.

While Turner told E! News definitively that Taylor would not be featured in the film, rumors began swirling again on Friday after she tweeted a photo of Tye Sheridan(Cyclops) holding up a Dazzler record. But it was the caption that had everyone talking, hinting at a T.Swift

Meanwhile, Turner also reiterated that Taylor would not be in the film during an interview with E! News in July.

Despite the fact that some of the cast was spotted hanging with the singer in Montreal (where the film was being shot), the actress said they were simply together to see her1989 concert.

"No," Turner said definitively when asked if Taylor is joining the movie. "We just went to her concert and then I guess she wanted to meet us and we really wanted to meet her so we just hung out with her for a bit. Played a couple of drinking games. It was awesome."

But in less of a fantasy-ruining topic, when asked if T.Swift is as cool as she seems, Turner immediately replied: "Probably cooler."

I think its clear that X-men Apocalypse will suffer at the Box Office because people will still be busy with Civil War AND its going head to head with another blockbuster.

That being said, the success of the movie will depend on only one thing, the reviews. If it gets strong reviews it has all summer long to make money. The rest of the summer isnt filled with lots of blockbusters this year, so they have that going for themselves. If it even gets average to good reviews it will flop IMHO.

Its not gonna reach a billion of course but if it can get 750 - 800 mil it would be great!

And Now, Bryan Singer's Point-by-Point Defense of Every Aspect of X-Men's Apocalypse

rvesqtamkr3srbsqjrty.jpg

Image: X-Men Apocalypse, 20th Century Fox

Ever since the very first images of Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse were released, pretty much everyone of a certain age had the same reaction: “Is that Ivan Ooze from the Power Rangers movie?” Well, now Bryan Singer’s stepped up to defend his choices.

His defense for the first and very purple mutant was given at a press visit. Here’s what he said, via IGN:

There was an image released on Entertainment Weekly, where the effect hadn’t been put in yet, so everyone was — the effect has a pink light on it, and everyone got lit up pink, so people thought Apocalypse was going to be pink. I was like, ‘No, no, they’re all pink. Take a look. Everyone in the picture is pink. It’s a pink picture.’ They maybe just should have taken the pink out of the picture — I should have taken the pink out of the picture. I’m going to take some blame for that. My fault, not Entertainment Weekly’s. That’s the picture I gave them.

Yes, it is. And even though we’ve since seen Apocalypse as blue and with white eyes, those initial impressions have stuck. Even in the “right” color, the shape and expression still strike an Ooze-like note, at least for those who are already primed to see it. On the other hand, the full movie could definitely eliminate that association as people see a lot of un-Power Rangers-likeaction.

Singer also defended having an Apocalypse who doesn’t appear to be a giant. While he could have cast a body builder, Singer said that it was more important to him to have an actor who can nail “his power of persuasion, and it was very important that he’d be able to connect with his horsemen, at their level, and that he’d be played by a guy who can actually act like Oscar, who’s a fantastic actor.” Plus, we’ve seen him grow in size in the trailer, in a fight with Professor X. Could be a mind battle, but still.

And, rounding out this his defense, Singer had to reckon with the completely normal voice the character had in the first trailer. The director said that they had to use Isaac’s normal voice because, essentially, they didn’t have time to fix it before the trailer came out. “We just needed those words to govern the first teaser. So people thought, ‘Oh, wait, is that going to be his voice during the whole movie?’ It’s like, no, but to tell the story of the first teaser, we needed the voice, and I hadn’t recreated the voice yet.” Seems like they really thought they could get away with using unfinished sights and sounds in marketing this movie, and have since discovered that the internet is place full of nitpicking nerds. Which, guilty as charged.

Basically, all of his explanations boil down to the same thing: we haven’t seen the final product. Which is perfectly fair, but you know what they say: “You only get one chance to make a first impression.”

X-Men: Apocalypse’s Unused Villain Design Better Than Real Thing

this:
X-Men-Apocalypse-Poster-No-Text.0.0.jpg

vs.

With superhero films continuing to be the hottest commodity in the modern Hollywood landscape, the task of finding the very best talent within the industry of costume design has become more important than ever. Over the years, various studios that cater to delivering the very best character models and designs have sprung up – in order to fulfill the need of various production studios, currently at work at bringing the biggest superheroes and super-villains to thrilling, cinematic life.

Of those costume design companies, Ironhead Studio is among the very best, and is headed by longtime industry artist Jose Fernandez, whose work on the Catwoman suit in the 1990s superhero film Batman Returns has since landed him positions as part of the crew behind such movies as the 2016 superhero tentpoles Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War. However, it was Fernandez’s recent attempt to bring the eponymous antagonist for X-Men: Apocalypse to life that has resulted in one of his most fruitful productions.

In a recent interview with Tested that was conducted at Monsterpalooza 2016 (see above), Fernandez was quick to cite the fact that he was ultimately turned down for the role of creating the character design for Apocalypse in director Bryan Singer’s latest X-Men film. Though that didn’t stop the renowned costume designer from going ahead and developing his own original character model and design on his own (the results of which can be seen below).

Owing obvious aesthetic influence and inspiration to the original character design featured in Marvel Comics, longtime fans of the Apocalypse character are sure to get a kick out of the work put into Fernandez’s alternative take on this famous X-Men super-villain. Even if the piece in question will never see an appearance in a feature film, the dedication and artistry that went into designing the piece should stand as more than enough reward for the work that went into creating it for the sake of its very existence.

Whether or not the final design featured in X-Men: Apocalypse will ultimately prove up to snuff for the most die-hard fans of the original comic book character, Fernandez’s original design will still stand as the Apocalypse that might have been. There’s obviously a lot of competition within the costume design industry – and based on the Monsterpalooza 2016 exhibition from Fernandez and his Ironhead Studio, his work is still among the very best in the business.

The review embargo lifts on May 9th.

Usually that means they are fully confident in the movie.

Only one guy online says he saw it and he gave it a 9 and loves it equally as CW. But he is friends with Singer so...

Sorry, it won't fail. Another $700 mill going to be hand delivered to Fox and a fat check to Bryan Singer. Fail to comic book fans, major success to Fox, investors, and everyone with a stake in the movie.
as I've said before - I think Deadpool changes the studio's perception of "success" and raises the audiences' expectations for this movie... so we'll see if Singer's film can match or exceed the expectations...

Also - that is a crowded weekend to open on

I don't think Deadpool success raises the bar for any comic book film that's not based around an adult rated R character like a Wolverine or Punisher. We know what to expect from Singer Xmen films at this point.

If a midlevel property's first film is R rated with a February release date, but has a larger- opening weekend than an established tent pole franchise, with a Memorial day 3 day weekend release?

If that happens -someone needs to be fired.

while i agree a literal copy of wolverine from comic to screen wouldn't work we still manage to see adaptations like those of Spiderman, Captain America, Thor, Vision Superman, Batman, Flash, Deadpool and others stay true to costume color and style but for wolverine it would be an impossible task............ Why cause you don't like yellow?
Pure Bullshit.

cosplayers can do this , big budget studios cant do better?

I think for the type of character wolverine is yellow just doesn't fit. The brown and black is much better. But at the same time...brown is a bad color to use period. The whole costume is bad. I like him with the ... fuck i don't remember. The alternate universe wolverine.. ULTIMATE thats what it is. The ultimate universe black costume.
