I think they didn't take superheros movies seriously, thinking all they need was a cheesy safe story line, cool special effects and cha ching the merchandise bucks would start rolling..

while i agree a literal copy of wolverine from comic to screen wouldn't work we still manage to see adaptations like those of Spiderman, Captain America, Thor, Vision Superman, Batman, Flash, Deadpool and others stay true to costume color and style but for wolverine it would be an impossible task............ Culture wise - like I said before- a lot of people saw Deadpool and its jokes about superhero / XMen movies makes this trailer seem worse... shit even RoadRage acknowledges it - back when Days of Future Past dropped he and a bunch of others wouldn't hear it - to the general movie goer that saw it - it was fun and good!

Singer has Magneto X and Apocalypse in a movie but the best story they came up with is Magneto follows Apocalypse? clearly telegraphing in the trailer that Magneto is going to be first to have a change of heart and considering the choice of characters for horsemen that everyone turns against Apocalypse in a great Battle Royal finish.
