Black Men & Stress: Have you ever had a horrible run of BAD LUCK & How did u deal?

Re: Black Men & Stress: Have you ever had a horrible run of BAD LUCK & How did u deal

With all the health issues going on in this thread, I suggest that most of you look into income replacement insurance. This is a must , especially for the self employed. It's a type of long term disability insurance that will pay you up to 60% of your income up to age 68, if you're no longer able to practice your profession because of a health problem.

Re: Black Men & Stress: Have you ever had a horrible run of BAD LUCK & How did u deal

I'm glad I have fee health care in the UK even though I have an option to go to private.

I think money plays a huge role for most men issues. We're so caught up with winning or catching those ahead of us that we lose our way.

I was talking about disability insurance. The real good one, not that stuff offered by employers.

Re: Black Men & Stress: Have you ever had a horrible run of BAD LUCK & How did u deal

I am under constant surveillance and harassment which creates stress, it is hard to get anything done using Stasi like tactics. I am having to leave the country in a couple of weeks, now they are toying around with my employment - having me getting fired from a bunch of jobs to demonstrate their power to me.

Some of it is stealing information and to terrorize me - I don't put anything on my computer - there is no point in looking. There is definitely government involvement.

For example, looking for a thread on BGOL or on my computer, they anticipate what I am looking for and make a noise. They planted some device in the air conditioner to go off at certain times. That guy going on a shooting rampage was probably get worked on in the same way until he broke. Another guy fled the country because of the psychological harassment.

President Obama is signing off on people getting worked like this.

Re: Black Men & Stress: Have you ever had a horrible run of BAD LUCK & How did u deal

I was disconnected from the internet looking at files - air gapped , they were still able to look my files, anticipated what I was looking and made a noise.

They must have planted something in the computer, hardware backdoors.

Just complete terror and domination.

Re: Black Men & Stress: Have you ever had a horrible run of BAD LUCK & How did u deal

The last few days I had a just a horrible run of luck health-wise, death, money just happened back to back for some reason out of the blue.

Damn near felt like I was gonna have an anxiety attack...

I had never reacted to stress like that before

As a Black Man father husband we really can't show any weakness

Have you ever just had a a tough run and how did you deal with it.

Its interesting that many people pretty much tell people to pray...

and that's it.

Bruh... each day is a new day and you do what you can to make it work the way you want. Stay up!:yes::yes:

Start meditating everyday... Start off with 5 mins... Eventually you'll get to an hour! You'll start to operate with tunnel vision. Yoga is an excellent stress reliever. You'll still be a faggot.... But you'll feel better & be stress free:lol:

Re: Black Men & Stress: Have you ever had a horrible run of BAD LUCK & How did u deal

This is an important thread, to be a black man in the U.S. is to dance with stress constantly. I've been there... I had the anxiety attack+ at 36

1. Lost my job due to recession in Dec 2008
2. My fiance left due to losing that job, took my 1 year old daughter
3. Car gets repossessed at a job interview.
4. Warrant for my arrest issued for missed child support for oldest kid.
5. My father dies, due to renal failure at 59
6. On the steps of the courthouse I black out on the steps
7. I had a stroke, Blood Pressure 230/150
8. In hospital had another stroke the first day
9. Heart stopped for 14 seconds ...
10. 3 months in hospital, police arrest me upon release.

When you hit rock bottom you can't go down anymore, I learned to set small goals, and knock them off the list. Also meditation is mandatory, keep your mind clear, eliminate fear and the opinion of others.

I had a dream of my grandfather (whom I've met twice) in the hospital with him telling me "you haven't gone through enough yet, but you will survive ...ADAPT"

You fellas need to detox your bodies and go on a raw foods diet for a while

Man - this is probably the realest thread on BGOL. I have avoided this thread this morning. But Stretchwallz story made me say fuck it and post to y'all ninjas I have never met.

I realized I probably have generalized anxiety. My father has it and his father most likely had it. I have no idea how I made it through Law/Grad school and had the success I had. I just powered through the shit. Never wanted to take meds...then late last year I had a cough I couldn't get rid of/chest pain and the doctor found a spot on my lungs. Went through three to four weeks of mri/cat scan/review. My doctors were being vague and told me to follow up in two months. I'm man enough to say that I lost it and had an anxiety attack - lost my consulting firm- stop fucking wit my fraternity brothas, family, friends, lost hell of weight, etc.. Just broke down...

I found my dream job in January and just tried to power through it again. Had a therapist and just stopped going - cause I got this and a successful black man doesn't need all of that shit. Now - I'm fucking up on the job now, probably about to get fired, stressed out and depressed. Its not some shit you can just power through. When you run in circles in ATL where everyone is balling or fake balling/accomplished and even ninjas you been through the thick of it cant sit down with you to talk about this or even relate - its fucked up.

I have no idea where to go from here and felt my self slipping back into a deep dark place...but y'all don't have any idea how good it felt just to let this shit out. Typing this shit was theraputic..

Appreciate the thread and y'all help

I feel you,

control what you can......

you cant stop child support now,

but you can do what you can to keep your,

mind and body in order, give up all that shit

thats slowly killing you, sodas, fast food...

drink more water, save more loot..

do push ups and sit ups, so when your

time comes you will be ready...

dont fear being homeless, see that shit as a new

beginning to get the place you really always wanted...

just dont live above your means..

that last child support payment is gonna be here before you know it,

but are you gonna be all sick and stressed when that day comes.

or you gonna be in shape, with a healthy mind body and spirit

ready for chapter two in yo life...

accept what you must and change what you will...

and now that your moms passed to a higher life

you now know who died so you could live..

and it aint no white jesus..

We really need to get back to respecting

our antcestors... past and present...

Respect Yo Angels!!

Props on all of these posts.

Salute to all strong Black fathers working hard to face all the challenges before us and our families.

Re: Black Men & Stress: Have you ever had a horrible run of BAD LUCK & How did u deal

This is probably top 5 best thread on bgol

It seems like the common cures for rebuilding yourself are meditation, exercise, financial diversity and self acceptance (ie letting unnecessary shit go)

I'm currently going through a bad period myself but most of my stressors are internal. Sometimes its as if my willpower only kicks in when my back is against the ropes, and I have to get out of that mindset because too many opportunities are passing me by.

IMO life comes down to balancing 3 resources; time, money and energy. Battling depression is costing me all three but I know eventually I'll be ok. Sometimes people need to go a little crazy to find out who they really are

I guess there is a time when even a donkey isn't an ass any more

"One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to
come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.

At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement,he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw.

With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!"

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up!

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

Enjoy Your Week! SHAKE IT OFF!

Rasta.

I havent contributed much other than music...but I felt this was an important thread to share my thoughts cuz I too have gone through some hardship and found inspiration in reading some of the members' experiences .I wont go into detail but I will say Im glad to be a member of BGOL.All I can say is try and *Stay up* during these times of struggle !!!!! People told me "Things will get better" and I still remained pessimistic believe me situations do turn around for the better but its starts mentally !!!!

appreciated and understood

sometimes constantly being told it gets better seems like a brush off

but its truth and hearing it can help you change your mind-state.

and thank you for your music...it does help.

Re: Black Men & Stress: Have you ever had a horrible run of BAD LUCK & How did u deal

Play this. Put it on repeat.

And remember that hope is the most powerful force in the universe. I got this from Neil Gaiman's Sandman. Sandman was fighting against a demon in possesion of something of his.

CHORONZON: I am a dire wolf, prey-stalking, lethal prowler.

MORPHEUS: I am a hunter, horse-mounted, wolf-stabbing.

CHORONZON: I am a horsefly, horse-stinging, hunter-throwing.

MORPHEUS: I am a spider, fly-consuming, eight legged.

CHORONZON: I am a snake, spider-devouring, posion-toothed.

MORPHEUS: I am an ox, snake-crushing, heavy-footed.

CHORONZON: I am an anthrax, butcher bacterium, warm-life destroying.

MORPHEUS: I am a world, space-floating, life-nurturing.

CHORONZON: I am a nova, all-exploding... planet-cremating.

MORPHEUS: I am the Universe -- all things encompassing, all life embracing.

CHORONZON: I am Anti-Life, the Beast of Judgement. I am the dark at the end of everything. The end of universes, gods, worlds... of everything. Sss. And what will you be then, Dreamlord?

MORPHEUS: I am hope.

Re: Black Men & Stress: Have you ever had a horrible run of BAD LUCK & How did u deal

As weird and twisted as it sounds, you posted on BGOL as a way of Dealing with your stress and issues. It helps to have a sounding board sometimes; someone you can speak to and who u can trust and who will not judge you.

you is right about that BullaCake bruh....once you get past the trolls and suspect racist members....you find reasonable intelligent people and its always great to interact with like-minded people on a large scale even tho it is a porn board lol....PlayaHaitian, i always liked yo flavor neighbor my advice is take it one step at a time and make dramatic changes for the better of you....I picked up new hobbies and start working out again and meeting new people and try new food new games you know what i mean bruh...i hope everything gets better

Re: Black Men & Stress: Have you ever had a horrible run of BAD LUCK & How did u deal

The thing about stress is, what you are stressing about another man will laugh about it....this year I got dumped by a woman I probably cared for way too much and got in a car accident and had to remove to of my wisdom tooths..seems like part of life but everything hit me at the same time. I prayed a lot Fam it helped believe me.

was this all that the same time? removing wisdom teeth aint shit unless it was impacting your other teeth.

Re: Black Men & Stress: Have you ever had a horrible run of BAD LUCK & How did u deal

2010 was the worst year of my life. A reckless driver totaled my car. Tried to sue and got no money in return. I moved out of state with a resume, and IT certs thinking I was gonna "MAKE IT". As the months winded down, money depleted, and I found myself still with no job. I believed in laws of attraction and all that mumbo jumbo which proved to be bullshit to be honest. Then shit got real bad, I was on the verge of being evicted with no food in the fridge or anything. There were some nights where I literally starved. After not finding the dream job, getting kicked out the apartment, and going broke, I had a nervous break down and had to move back home with fam.....Biggest lesson I learned is doing what you love can be overrated, doing what works is more sensible.....Life is a muthafucka
