He ain't lying. You can definitely tell the difference between who's local and who's from out of town. The town feels like what I picture a small southern town during Jim Crow to feel like. Black people there just look like they're oppressed. First time I went there, we were warned about how racist it was. Everybody I know stays on St. Simon's Island when they go there, it's more of a tourist spot but there's plenty of homes on it. If you go to Savannah or Jacksonville, FL, you'll see some middle-class black people but I didn't see any in Brunswick. I was recruited and offered a permanent job there but I was like "fuck that".
