Do you. I'm not paying Youtube shit, it ain't that serious. And I'm old as fuck. I just sideloaded SmartTube on my tvs and called it a day, no need for a vpn even. I get what you're saying though, when you get older hacking/pirating everything gets old and you just want it to work. I'm the same way. I imagine one day they will figure out a way to screw up SmartTube so it doesn't work anymore, or the SmartTube devs will stop supporting it. But until then, I get no ads and don't even need a vpn. Only thing I use the vpn for is torrenting and bypassing my dumbass states Pornhub laws.

Redbox’s owner files for bankruptcy after repeatedly missing payments and payroll

/

The company hasn’t paid employees in over a week and owes money to almost everyone in Hollywood.

Huh. I saw most of the physical boxes were shutting down a month or so ago around here. Figured the handwriting was on the wall. They had a good run, but they were never going to survive the streaming wars.

No, it's not the same because the creators of those movies never intended for us to watch their creations in such shitty quality.

On the other hand, video game developers regularly used software limitations to create certain visual effects, which is why CRTs remain popular for people gaming on original hardware and shaders that accurately mimic CRTs are very popular.

Although in fairness, once you get to the polygonal era of games, upscaling becomes a more accepted practice. I do not emulate PS1, Saturn, N64 and Dreamcast at their stock resolutions, all 4 are upscaled to 1080p with some downsampling.

Fix movie tittle ? I never had to do that ever in plex it gets the metadata automatically

My movie files are named like this

Twisters.2024.1080p.10bit.WEBRip.6CH.x265.HEVC-PSA.mkv

In plex it’s named

Twisters

With the movie poster and the rest of the info

plex gets all that information automatically

The only time plex doesn’t rename it is when it doesn’t know what that movie is , you have to click on fix match , to fix it

My bad. Mine look like that as well. I have some old cartoons and some recent shows that instead of putting them in a complete season, it puts them as individual files. I appreciate your response bro, thank you.

20tb western digital external drive $269 amazon prime
If you're suggesting this for PLEX, I would advise against it as there is no redundancy. That one drive fails and all your data is lost. Get something that supports RAID so if a drive(s) fail, you'll still have your data so you can get a replacement.

That's why I don't want to buy those external HDD because the never last long and data can be lost.

I think everyone knows when they buy a drive to buy another the same size for backup
If you don’t know that by now I don’t know what to tell you
When I bought my plex drive
I bought 2 18tb drives

My new plex setup

m2 mac Mini as plex server
I got 2 18tb internal drives

and this enclosure

TerraMaster D2-310 2-Bay USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C RAID Enclosure

terramaster_d2_310_usb_3_1_type_c_1569447421000_1501777.jpg

I have about 9TB free space
I mostly download small 720p 1gb movies
Since getting this enclosure I’m starting to get 4K movies In small size 3-5GB

ILL post links to where I get movies later today

also Apple TV and plex app
I’m still using this setup , and I changed my favorite movies or movies I like to 1080p, got rid of 4K
Now I have 7tb free after a year and some
After I bought this a new version came out, I was a little salty
But this one is still quiet and working great , never had a disconnect, works great

I had that TerraMaster POS!!! Thing died on me and I bought a new one, but the interface is so janky that I can't reformat the drives. I was able to plug them in and pull the data surprisingly, but now I can't wipe them and setup a new NAS

I tried to tell you about saving those 4k movies! That shyt will eat up your space QUICK!!! My movies are no bigger than 1.4gb and TV shows are about 500mb. 1080p/720p for movies and 480p for TV. I had a cousin that complained about the quality so I disabled his access and told him to buy Disney, Netflix, MAX, etc... since he has a problem with my FREE media. If he was smart I would be scared of him turning me into the media police, but that ain't gonna happen.

i downloaded like 300 movies at 1080p x265 rarbg mostly under 2gb, now i get 1080p x265 from psarips
for movies I don't care much or I'm not sure is good i get 900mb 720p x265
all tv shows no matter how good or bad i get 200mb 720p x265

I use a program called "carbon copy cloner" to backup my drive every day at a certain time, i basically use the terramaster as a das ,I know it has a raid built-in but i prefer the program

For TV shows, I get 720p.WEB.x265-MiNX

You plan on switching to 2160p? I wonder how those 1080p videos will look 10 years from now,

I'm assuming TV's will have technology to "clean up" those 1080p flicks
Doubt it, remember xvid codec videos from back in the day, those would look like trash on a 4k tv. Even 420 and 720p videos from the 2000's don't hold up well. I'm assuming we will eventually transition to 8k tvs.
