BGOL BLACK PANTHER Movie Thread [Denzel Washington to star in Black Panther 3]

I would say that BP2 was very realistic in the manner of "Oh shit, shit happens what do I do when I'm taking out of my comfort zone?" more so than any other superhero movie next to Spider-Man No Way Home.

Shuri is more fit to be in the lab, but she was forced to be the protector of Wakanda out of desperation.

What Ryan coogler did was admirable because he took a no-win situation and made a pretty good movie. Now, the lighting issue vastly affected the streaming re-watch value unless you have a BOMB ASS TV and/or know what settings bring out the best in the movie, but it was realistic. And if you saw it in the theater it was spectacular.

Think about real life. How many people do you know who have had someone, either the primary breadwinner or the matriarch or patriarch who is the glue of the family, die all of a sudden out of nowhere. People got to figure out how to pay bills, people got to figure out how to pay taxes, people got to figure out how to deal with life while life is coming on a train barreling towards you at 90 MPH. THAT was BP2. And she had to deal with a WAR with no powers and use science to recreate the herb

Namor and his people were formidable, Killmonger showing up was beautiful and unexpected, and aside from the Lesbian love that was inserted that no one needed/wanted/asked for the performances were spectacular - plus Little T'Challa at the end was a very nice touch.

While Shuri is ill-fit to hold the mantle long-term, she found out firsthand that heavy is the head who wears the crown.

There was no better option at the time considering how difficult it would have been to simply re-cast T'Challa, and it actually fit the comic. Replacing T'Challa is as impossible as attempting to replace MLK after his assassination. You needed a strong mind, strong character, willing and able to ignore the noise and crisicism with professionalism, able to do the character and the action and handle the newfound fame with people coming at him all over social media.

You needed a Jackie Robinson Black man RIGHT NOW, and those do not grow on trees.

With more time to scout and the cool down period of Chadwick's death, I believe that actor can be found

I can't wait to get this TV either this week or next to watch Wakanda Forever in all it's splendor as it was meant to be seen.
there are plenty of talented black males actors that would kill the bp role if selected, rc and his team just don't have the selective power to do that. i give dcu one thing, when they selected christopher reeve to do superman and he was nobody at the time that was a work of genuis. they should study the making of superman and learn how to shape and pick a hero.

Christopher Reeve was the right type of person at the right time. It's not so much as being a nobody, it's the reason why Jackie Robinson was selected to be the first black baseball player to integrate baseball and not let's say satchel Paige or another player.

If you watch the movie Soul of the Game, Branch Rickey said to Jackie Robinson, "I want someone who's strong enough not to fight back."

Christopher Reeve already had the mindset The talent and the demeanor. He just wasn't unknown. Being the first in a huge role is almost like following a superstar like Brady. You know how hard it is to find someone who won't crumble under that pressure?

be done, pretend like you didn't hear prominent people roasting the shit out of this movie, hell even marvel got cursed out in in the comic book fan mail when they did this in the comics and sales fell off dramatically, a lot of garbage mcu movies made money made money, we are talking about staying true to why we love bp and it has nothing to do with shuri.
Besides the Lesbian shit, what legitimate gripe do you have with the movie?

Yes, it was dark, but that has been explained. Shuri being unfit to lead the kingdom, that was expected, and also explained.

I mean, what legitimate gripe do you have? You tell me what kingdom that had the father die who was king, the son die - who was the king, and the mother in a period of 6 years would not be in disarray?

They showed their strength to the world leaders with the Dora Milaje in the beginning, and that was powerful. The fact that Shuri was incapable and an unwilling 'hero' was fitting

lets start with the fact that the director and producer Cleary is not aware of who namor is... are we supposed to believe Shuri can drop one of the toughest marvel characters in the game like a sack of potatoes???? also wakadians getting their ass kick all over the movie. my gut feeling is the studio would prefer bp to be a woman the a man and the first movie proves it

Did you watch the movie?

First it's vibranium vs vibranium. Second, they dried him out utilizing the proved hypothesis that he derived his strength from the water. she benefited greatly from having the Black Panther suit. Without the suit, she would have never beat him due to her lack of experience. She drained his power to level the field. She got her ass beat as expected versus one of the more powerful Marvel characters

And if you think about it, he actually conceded knowing that the Atlantians had the advantage and they could win the next time around because - just watch the movie again on a good TV. It even pissed me off trying to watch it in the dark.

The Wakandans getting whooped vs the Atlantians was because the Atlantians have a much larger flighting force "We we have more soldiers than you have blades of grass." The Dora Milaje are a great fighting force, but they have never had to deal with superior strength AND greater numbers as far as I know.

**Edit**

Think about it, Namor's entire lineage, the whole crew are descendants of people who ate the herb, so their blood is imbued with Black panther juice. This means they are ALL physically equivalent to the Black panther, whereas the Dora Milaje have not taken the Black panther herb, so that's why they were outmatched against the Atlantians - they were humans fighting super humans.

Your argument is falling apart, Duke. The suit that Shuri designed for Okoye is the only thing that could make the Dora Milaje comparable to super humans like the Atlantians and possibly Namor

Neither Black Panther nor Wakanda forever delivered that and which your speaking.

Chadwick Boseman offered an Obama-esque presidential performance, when I guess you were hoping for a wisecracking smartass, but smartest person in every room kinda guy.

I don't know what you expected. For BP too they came up with a real, and realistic second movie All things considered and it was pretty good. The Dora Milaje were fighting a city of Black panthers who are descendants of folks who ate the BP herb

I told this story before and I don't know how deep you are into this thread so I'll tell it again for you.

Where else could it have logically gone?

Killmonger could have made a deal with Namor if T'Challa defeated him (bury me in the ocean...) that if he lost, He knew that T'Challa was honorable enough to fulfill that wish, and when it occurred Namor was to rescue him and keep him in and induced coma until he healed (that was would be the intro to BP2)

BP2 would start as it did and go through the entire movie as it did with Namor conceding at the end as he did. The post credits scene would occur as it did, but a second post credit scene would be Killmonger waking up from his coma.

BP3 would see Killmonger dealing with nightmares He had while in his coma. The lives he took of Wakandans, as he caused a civil war. When he woke up he had regrets of his actions, attacking Namor and the Atlantians and escaping to Wakanda apologizing for his actions saying that anger made him do the things he did and he should have been trying to unite Wakanda instead of trying to divide it.

There would be overlayed cutscenes of him going to every member of Wakanda he offended and apologizing to them and at the end vow to uphold the mantle as he should have the first time.

He would volunteer to take the serum removing the The powers of the Black Panther to prove how serious he was.

He would stand in front of the nation of Wakanda and give a vow of solidarity to the people in the fight that is coming versus Atlantis and Namor. "You can fight me, or you can fight with me against our true enemy."

Shuri would concede the mantle, accepting, maybe even stating that she is more comfortable in the lab than in a fight.

Utilizing Shuri tech and his skills in war they will beat Namor and his people again. The outfits that Okoye didn't like would be fitted for a new fighting force of both men and women, while still utilizing the Dora Milaje. To beat the Atlantis Super soldiers you need super soldiers

Killmonger leads Wakanda to victory and He can lead as many movies as he wants to

the amount of mail marvel and Disney got for for bp in civil war was unprecedented, the mail they got thanking them for the first bp was crazy, we are not going to ignore the impact it had on the culture, Wakanda forever did not hit the same.

Sir, the first of its kind is always The bigger impact, financially and all around. It would have been crazy Not to mention unrealistic to expect BP2 to rake in the same numbers as the first one.

While the first one had two opposite characters which caused fans to get behind either one in a Malcolm X versus Martin Luther King standoff, And there is still commentary from both sides on whether Killmonger was wrong or not

the second has a young woman filled with anger because cancer stole her brother and while dealing with that grief she had to deal with some real life shit She wasn't ready for. When you add to it that she was not as likable filled with rage as T'Challa , that may have something to do with how black women are perceived when angry.

But I've told my movie. What would you have done considering the circumstances? I would like to hear what you would have put forth.

if they are going to make bp a woman thru out this franchise then they should have went with okaye, secondly, keep queen Romona alive, without her where will this go? thirdly present wakanda in a better light then a self-centered weak continent.

One of the most overdone tropes in Hollywood is using death to unify people. Death and murder cause people to get pissed and unify or separate. The agent death in the one avengers movie caused iron Man and the rest of them to unify. King T'Chakka's death drove his fight against Captain America and his crew unifying him with iron Man

I agree with you that Queen Romonda's death causes a vacuum, but Okoye was not a member of the royal family, and thus making her Black Panther would have gone against decades or even centuries of tradition, so it couldn't have gone to her. And as much as it may have seemed better for Nakia as well, She was ill fit to take the mantle because she is only a spy.

Be specific on the self-centered week content. What do you mean. Use your words. Wakanda Not having allies so to speak made them their own nation, so to go against Namor and his crew they have no allies to back them up. Up until this point they didn't need it, or they didn't think they did, but that was before they had to face an entire city of Black Panther equivalents

I'm not interested in this franchise going forward without T'Challa. I don't wanna hear about, "But the son.." fuckery. The son isn't the father. I share my real first name with my late Dad, but I'm not him.

I feel you pain sitting right here in DC when JB was last honored. however, BP is a character and yes JB played the shit out of that role....made it his own like R downey/iron man or R reynolds/deadpool...but just like superman....had multiple actors play the legendary character and some really well (henry cavell). SO the black panther should live on as an iconic representation for our future generations to love, admire, and emulate...as corny as this sounds, i saw a lot of black people coming together to support the movie, have discussion, even make new acquaintances ...we need more of that in the generations to come.

How do you know Okoye was T'Challa sister-in-law? How could that be? He has a sister, she's not married and Okoye's husband is not his brother

Wakanda not sharing their natural resources with other nations was not a self-centered act but a way of protecting themselves against the world. If they know what you have they will try to take it. White people have been doing that since... Since.

So, at the end of Black Panther one, T'Challa agreed to share some of the countries resources, and that brought out other countries trying to steal the resources, see the beginning of Black Panther 2. If they don't know you got it, they won't come after it enforce.

Self-centered? Really? Just because I was in the military doesn't necessarily mean I understand war, but I understand how nations think, particularly the one we currently live in who has taken everything that's not nailed down from every other nation they deem as weaker than them, that's the white people way.

This was kind of fun when I thought you knew what you were talking about but you're clearly pulling things out of your butt just to be antagonistic or just to create whatever the hell you're trying to do. While I am not fully versed in BP history, The reason they didn't share their resources was explained in Black Panther one. Have a good day

i made a error, i thought wakabi was blood, you can't say i'm wrong about sharing Wakanda resources when he told his father in the ancestral plane that he was wrong for some of the actions he has taken and end up changing his position. since when did african nations not share their resources with other nations??? this didn't make wakanda look good

Difference?

I didn't sound like a petulant child

I understood what they wanted to do.

The pressure on the studio the writer director and ESPECIALLY the new actor is going to be INSANE

Don't rush

That's all.
