What I got from that exchange though is this Rock is handling all that much better and is focused on the bigger picture, moving forward and maybe maybe potentially returning to the role.

He was really acting out of character throughout this.

I was impressed on how he handled himself.

I hear you. But that movie meant too much to him PERSONALLY to do that.

Those others wouldn't have done that for their first passion product produced by them and developed almost a decade by them.

That movie was...

There was a good movie in there somewhere. It was and should have been a summer release.

But what found frusrating about that movie is the fact we waited almost a decade

They had so many opportunities to go back and tweak it.

In a pre-pandemic environment, the movie likely would have added an extra $125 million-$175 million from Russia and China, giving it a good-enough $550 million global total. The narrative stuck even while “Retaliation” earned less domestically ($122 million) than Stephen Sommers’ “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” ($150 million).
Warner Bros. Discovery is making like Walt Disney and pledging to keep moving forward, expressing extreme confidence in both “The Flash” and the soft reboot plans hatched by Peter Safran and James Gunn beginning with “Superman: Legacy” in 2025.

Yet Gunn and Safran have a talent challenge in their reboot: A key star damaged the once-promising “Shazam” franchise while strangling another, “Black Adam,” in its crib. Johnson’s public pandering to an online vocal minority and refusal to concede box-office defeat has likewise hurt his franchise-saving reputation.

Johnson tried to remold the DC Universe in his image, and in doing so he not only failed to save the franchise but actively contributed to its downfall. What’s the opposite of franchise Viagra?

The Rock is one of those ppl. The difference is The Rock has less talent on the creative side of the business. It wouldn't have hurt to tease Black Adam at the end of Shazam.

Because it doesn't make sense except from the perspective of his ego. He couldn't play the top dawg, Superman, so he'd do the next "best thing": take a relatively obscure character and make him as big as Superman on the strength of star power alone.

It didn't work.

But it was such a BAD decision on every level

It would have made Shazam a success more likely...

Remember how a brief cameo in the Mummy got such an INSANE reaction in theatres the studio got him his OWN movie

plus Shazam IS the Rock's audience!

Why not tap into that support that INCREASE that? Levi aint taking any SHINE from Rocky. Do this and the audience goes CRAZY for the sequel and the Black Adam has the PERFECT introduction into the DCEU.

It was a no brainer.

Trust me I UNDRSTAND The Rock's ?logic? at the TIME but it was flawed

The Rock could have had a KILLER end credit scene with djimon hounsou

And LEAVE IN the Cavill teaser in the original Shazam

THEN you create a natural connection between them ALL.

Damn Rocky.

This little vanity project of Dwayne's was doomed almost from "go".

In spite of his boasting about "listening to the fans", The Rock didn't really do his homework nor was he truly interested in following DC comic lore.
If he was honest with himself (and the fans), he'd have known that the next film involving his character should've been:

(Or end in a draw).

Unlike Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Willis, Van Damme or Norris it's actually written in his contract just how many punches/hits/blows they allow their opponent to inflict upon them before they win a fight. But their must never lose a fight.
