Aleksandr Dugin is the "brain" behind a lot of russian political theory/ideas that Putin embraces. He has a book on the "multipolar" world as well as the concept of the fourth political theory. He is very far right and essentially a fascist but you can google and get the gist of his worldview. His argument is that Africa isn't united/advanced enough to be a pole yet and unlike Russia, India or China, no single African country is capable of being a pole. It is borderline scientific racism type stuff which is why the "freethinker" position on here toward russia seems so odd...
It is estimated that russia had anywhere from 90 to 133 of these helicopters to start with and they have been confirmed to have lost 41 so far including the two today.
