The biggest thing I noticed after giving it some thought was that they Disneyfied this movie. The score, the cameras, the feel, everything was reminiscent of a Disney musical, rather than just a proper comedy. Had they done without it and kept it regular, this might’ve faired better.

That being said, I think they should’ve let the original stand alone. This sequel wasn’t needed.

They better not try this with Trading Places.

I agree, but they wanted every generation of black person to enjoy (Kids too). Gotta remember, anyone 25 and younger don't know about how BIG Eddie Murphy was in his heyday. This movie wouldn't be the same if it was just about Eddie and Arsenio. They both 60 plus years old now.

Hollywood not gonna be able to market a big movie with two 60 year olds. Gotta mix in new talent, some old talent, and some new faces debuting.

Personally I enjoyed the movie. I loved Leslie's character. And the young cat I felt did a way better job than I expected.

I really thought the movie was going to be bad from the trailers. But I saw that they really put good effort towards the film, and it showed.

I'd give it 3.5/5 stars.

While I find the plot complaints silly (first one's plot wasn't some great believable thing either), there is one question I have to ask...does the palace have guards? Wesley and his team walked up in that joint so many times I thought Nextdooria had already conquered them
Hell yeah they had guards in one scene the damn guards opened up the door for Wesley to walk in with his army. That shit might as well be Wesley house lol.

i liked it too it wasnt going to be more than that anyway
they all killed their roles
i do think they could have chilled with all the rap music tho
lovecraft did that too
and the whole pc thing kinda impacted the movie too
They gotta sell that context. Glad my boy Bobby Sessions out the D got that record with Megan out of it though.

I liked it not to bad. I wasnt feeling the royal wedding at the end. That was the only time leslie Jones annoyed me. Akeems son was hilarious. I wont give the jokes away. The cameos was a bit much but Michael blackson was a good choice.

A other thing I dont listen to the internet mob speak or critics. I formulate my own decision as to what I like.

:thumbsdown:I didnt like it. And im not going to watch it, in full again. Ill support the film if its released on Blu-ray. The first barbershop scene was the only part that had me rolling. The interaction between Semmi and Baba was funny. But everything else was bad. IMO.

I liked it. It is not touching the 1st but not too any sequels can. I legit lmao a few times so I got what I came for.

I knock how they made Akeem somewhat of a chump and there were too many story lines, so it was clunky at times.

Overall I was entertained. I going to enter every room like Gen Izzi though, that shit had me rolling.

Not the worst movie I ever saw. Not even close.

But it was definitely cheesy as fuck. Shoulda named it “My Queen is From Zamunda” or some shit like it.

Crammed a lot into the movie. It was strictly a nostalgic flick. A reunion with up and coming actors.
