The biggest thing I noticed after giving it some thought was that they Disneyfied this movie. The score, the cameras, the feel, everything was reminiscent of a Disney musical, rather than just a proper comedy. Had they done without it and kept it regular, this might’ve faired better.
That being said, I think they should’ve let the original stand alone. This sequel wasn’t needed.
They better not try this with Trading Places.
I agree, but they wanted every generation of black person to enjoy (Kids too). Gotta remember, anyone 25 and younger don't know about how BIG Eddie Murphy was in his heyday. This movie wouldn't be the same if it was just about Eddie and Arsenio. They both 60 plus years old now.
Hollywood not gonna be able to market a big movie with two 60 year olds. Gotta mix in new talent, some old talent, and some new faces debuting.
Personally I enjoyed the movie. I loved Leslie's character. And the young cat I felt did a way better job than I expected.
I really thought the movie was going to be bad from the trailers. But I saw that they really put good effort towards the film, and it showed.
I'd give it 3.5/5 stars.
