Its very different. Chappelle got a series of one for one deals based on real time performance. Pro vets get long term guaranteed deals on projections. If Dave starts to tank and no one tunes in to his specials or buys tickets the deals stop. Embiid will get every penny he signs for whether he plays, performs, or people show up or not. Again, bad comp.
Literally everything you said was just flat out wrong. Daves current success has absolutely ZERO to with TCS and everything to do with his current social relevance and specials which sellout in minutes of being announced. And by no objective metric is Corey remotely in his class. Not one. Saying its "subjective" is head in the sand nonsense to support a completely nonsensical opinion.
LOL there is no Objective way to say you think a comic is great. Your criteria is what You use for your subjective determination. Just because in your criteria public fame and accolades are important doesn't make your opinion more valid. As with all art my opinion of the art is most important to ME. lol
Art is for each individual's personal enjoyment. Everyone gets to experience it in their own way. For me and my appreciation of stand-up comedic art Dave Chapelle is an average black comedian. I can name at least 10 black comedians I would rather go to see than Dave Chapelle. His shit get's chuckles not rolling on the floor in stitches. I have IN PERSON seen Corey Holcomb multiple occaisions and literally cried laughing the entire show. He is that funny.
And stop with the BS. Dave Chapelles biggest claim to fame is his TV show. Aint' shit else he ever did got as much popularity as that show. They still talking about the Rick James skit to this day. To say people don't go to his shows because of the Chapelle show is silly. Can you name any stand up performance or even joke that was even memorable from any of his Netflix shit. Nothing he did in stand-up has been socially significant.
