You could have done another 10 seasons and people still would not have accepted Daenerys’ “turning”
Don't really give a shit about her heel turn, the whole season seemed rushed.

It felt like HBO said they were cutting the budget this season because they had already pumped so much money into the show.

There was so much that could have been addressed with more time and effort.

I am so glad the show ended - I am so glad there will be NO MORE episodes - I am glad that some point in the near future people will move on and I can stop hearing all the whining about how bad the show is - how horrible the final season was and how D & D ruined everyone's expectations.

I loved the show - I used to love hearing people talk about the show on podcasts and in forum and the book reader vs show watcher divide was fun and interesting but now its gotten to a mass whine fest - that wonders if these people have ever had something not go there way in life or never had to temper their expectations.

Was the final season everything I wanted - NO - was it the perfect ending - NO
was it an ending - Yes not the one I would have wanted but it was an ending and now my watch has ended. Its time to move on

I agree with this partially. I feel like the first three episodes were great but took up too much of the season to leave time for the ending

Real talk.

What will you be moving on to?

I got my hopes up for the Watchmen series but I dont know if I should. Westworld has disappointed me so far overall.

For the people saying that having the Lords and Ladies pick rulers is a stupid idea, what would you suggest they do going forward?
I get the point that the system is flawed because people could just buy votes. But honestly, the family bloodlines system was also equally flawed. Like say that Jon had become king and ruled Westeros justly. What's to say that his son or grandson wouldn't have turned out to be a dickhead? A total Joffrey.
No matter what system they chose, it wouldn't have been perfect and it would still be susceptible to corruption. I still give them credit for at least trying something new.
And Bran should be a great King. He was raised with the same sense and ideas of Northern honor and pride that Jon was. He has his 3 eye raven powers so he can see threats and problems coming before they ever happen. And he has the entire history of humanity stored away to help him make rational decisions.
I point out again that just cause it wasn't the ending that we wanted doesn't automatically make it a bad ending.

A lot of people are tossing out the baby with the bath water on this season. The fact is, if you were a Day 1 fan for all 8 seasons and you expected a happy ending, I'm not sure what show you were watching. So in true GoT fashion, some fan favorites didn't get a great send off but a lot of characters did. All of Ned Starks surviving kids are thriving -- Bran is King, Sansa Queen of the North, and Arya is a badass warrior woman, slayer of the Night King and hero of the Battle at Winterfell. Tyrion is the Hand, a role that he managed well earlier in the series, keeping Joffery & Cersei in check as much as one can. Samwell Tarley, is the head of house Tarley, father of 2, and a Grand fucking Maester (not bad for a scared, pudgy, virgin forced to the Wall). Bronn, the sellsword who traded up to lead one of the wealthiest houses in Westeros and a seat at the table as Master of Coin. Davos, an illiterate pirate smuggler is now the Master of Ships. Brienne not only managed to be the first female knight, she's the Lord Commander of the KingsGuard. Gendry's a legit Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End, smasher of Arya.

So there were some satisfying endings to be found in the finale. Hell, even though Jon didn't become King, just remember he kept saying he never wanted to be. In fact when you think about it, aside from surviving execution by the Unsullied or Drogon, Jon really got what he always wanted. Back in Season 1, he talked about how he looked up to his Uncle Benjen, a ranger in the Night's Watch. And that's exactly what he is now, a ranger leading the free folk North of the Wall.

My problem with the criticism is 95% of it is based on Daenerys. Which I think they handled ok.

Bottom line, we got some great stories. Some great discussion. Hopefully something else as good comes along.

I’ll be damned if you dudes are gonna act like there’s something wrong with thinking this ending was ass... when the actual dude who created the damn book and the actors themselves are VISIBLY not enthusiastic about it either.

A lot of people having a problem with the ending. The same thing happened with the Soprano's, people didn't like that ending either.

John is the rightful King and he somehow should have ended up on the throne even though he didn't want it.

He's was a natural leader, men wanted to follow him, hell at times I was like I'll run through a wall for this nigga.... :smh::lol:

HBO is known for this. Did it with the Soprano's, Boardwalk Empire and now GOT!

I liked the season overall....unlike others I loved episode 3 and episode 5 (rewatched episode 5 and no longer have any issue with how Cersei died....it just seemed sudden on first watch)....episode 6 though....nah....its too much of a logical leap for me to believe the Unsullied would respond like that to the killing of Dany...definitely felt like a let's get on with it moment....one of the greatest series in TV history without question

Watched this shit again .... so much shit that makes no sense. Jon’s ending makes no sense. They built his Targaryen secret up for years..... and only 8 people end up knowing. ....

He kills Dany .... we don’t get any visuals of the arrest or anything ... they spoke of how he killed her ... yet there were no witnesses.... so he just went and voluntarily told the whole story ?

Makes no sense how they continuously tell him who he is during the show yet he gets arrested and doesn’t reveal what could possibly get him off? He was the rightful heir therefore Dany was a usurper .....and Bran knows this truth. Yet the dude who doesn’t really live in the present ... somehow is cool with being King.

He says maybe he can find Drogon..... but doesn’t try. The Unsullied and basically the Iron Islands Force a dude that was just King in the North to the Wall???

The dude who has the most leadership experience and ALL the people already love him ..... gets sent to the wall and the human history book becomes king ......

This was terrible.

I'm rewatching the episode and I only have two real criticisms with it and they both involve Tyrion.

I didn't like how they handled Jaime and Cersei's death reveal. They could have went with a show don't tell and trust your audience method there. Instead of having Tyrion find their bodies so easily in the one part of the room that had light shining through. They could have just had Tyrion go down there and see the archway destroyed and all the rubble. And then have Peter Dinklage convey his hurt at losing his siblings through good acting. Which Dinklage has shown he is more than capable of. We didn't necessarily need him to find the bodies to get the weight of that moment.

And the joke at the end of the episode during the small counsel meeting didn't make much sense. How do you write a story about the last 25 years of history of Westeros and not mention Tyrion. Most of the kingdom should still think that he murdered Joffrey. The circle of people who knew the truth was really small. And most of them are dead now. Hell, unless Jaime told Tyrion off screen, it's very possible that Tyrion doesn't even know who really killed King Dipshit. At to mention all the other shit that Tyrion did that would definitely have to be covered in a Westeros history book.

Tyrion not getting a reference in that book would be like a U.S. history book that make no mention of slavery or the civil war. I'm sure those books exist, but they would have to be filled with a lot of bullshit to fill in those huge gaps.

I get the writers were trying to throw in a joke, but it wasn't a good one because it makes no sense and falls apart if you think about it for even half a second.

Because it’s not logical. Dudes want you to believe that a group of savages all of a sudden become war strategist.

People talk about bad writing then when they offer how they would do it differently, they come up with something worse.

Killing Daenerys, I agree.
The unsullied don’t give a fuck about the lines of succession. They followed a person.
Why the fuck would anyone want to find Drogon? Which Targaeyen is going to control him? Let him go and pray he doesn’t come back.
Bran becoming king is fuckery.

I saw someone write about Jon asking Bran to make him the new Night King to fight Dany. He would resurrect her other dragon from the bottom of the ocean and fight her. Wtf!

I agree, this is the scene that I wished were done differently. Mainly because throughout the show's run, the most sadistic, worst villians never really got a satisfying comeuppance, except for Ramsey Bolton and Walder Frey. Joffrey drinks poison wine, OK... Euron dies in a swordfight, big deal. This scene gave the writers a second chance at a fitting death for Cersei and they blew it.

What would have been better was if Tyrion found the bodies and as he wept over losing Jamie, Cersei comes to. She's crushed beneath the rocks but she's not dead and now she's begging Tyrion to help her. Tyrion takes a moment to assess all the death and destruction that she's caused and he angrily wraps his hand around her neck and chokes that bitch to death, fulfilling the prophecy from the book.

I'm not in that camp... I knew the bitch was crazy and has always been toeing the line... Not surprised at all...

Maybe next time HBO buys a show they might make sure the source material is finished...

What were all these toeing the line scenes?

He shouldn't get to say shit. He stopped his involvement with the show.

I dont know why we accept this guy doing anything other then finishing his damn book.

I dont want to see or hear anything from him until the book is done.

That fat fuck is too busy writing prequel stories about the Targaryens.....:smh:
