You gotta submit pics of your gun with the current brace on it to get those free tax stamps and the gun has to stay like that otherwise you'll be on the hook to pay for the full tax stamp like it was a regular SBR. The shit is ridiculous and makes no sense. Gonna be a lot of overnight felons. All I'm reading out of this decision is FREE TAX STAMPS. I'm seriously tempted to buy a dozen lowers and stamp them all.
FYI pictures are optional. I just submitted my form and will let you know if they kick it back. You gotta submit pics of your gun with the current brace on it to get those free tax stamps and the gun has to stay like that otherwise you'll be on the hook to pay for the full tax stamp like it was a regular SBR. Were you doing it in a trust? When I went on the site, the photo field had an asterisk next to it as a required field.
Nope. IndividualWere you doing it in a trust?
Are you on the regular Form 1 page? I clicked on the one that called out specifically for the new brace ruleI didn't see an asterix and in the instructions, it says its optional

You know what, I think that picture requirement is new. I just looked at my most recent approval from December 2022 and it wanted pics of the engraving/serial and I submitted them. But then I looked at one I did on 1/16/2020 as well as 1/19/2021 and I didn't submit any pics, and I swear I don't remember them asking for pics on those. I dunno, I got enough regged lowers already, I can just build uppers at this point. But I do want to build a shorty AR10 this year, so looks like I'll need one more. When I went on the site, the photo field had an asterisk next to it as a required field.

This is beyond fuckery. Absolutely no consistency in what ppl are supposed to do eitherFrom what I've read, you can remove the brace and add a stock once approved as an SBR under the "amnesty". This fuckrey is still very new and there are 290+ pages of ATF bullshit legalese to sift through.
From what I've read the picture is required for the amnesty. There is also some verbiage that talks that the braced pistol had to have been purchased prior to 1/13/23 to qualify for the 120-day grace period. If purchased after, you have 60 days or some such guideline. You know what, I think that picture requirement is new. So essentially they want you to have a receipt as proof for when it was purchased? If that's the case then damn near no one will qualify for amnestyFrom what I've read the picture is required for the amnesty. They don't mention how this is going to be proven. At least not that I could locate. In typical Government fashion there is no rhyme or reason. Several statements that contradict the statement before. Several sentences that leave much to interpretation. My plan is to hold for a few days until the dust settles... I'm somewhat certain that there will be an injunction, reigning in the mass hysteria and kneejerk reactions... Hopefully. So essentially they want you to have a receipt as proof for when it was purchased? If that's the case then damn near no one will qualify for amnesty![]()
