I'll just say I hope they do the show down justice from a cinematic standpoint... Probably already said too much, but it aint like they didn't foreshadow it already.
I'm was hype a.f. and screaming at the TV when those two were having their stare down.
We could be at least a season or two removed from those two character having any further direct interactions.

The Iron Throne didn't cut Viserys here (Although it has cut him MANY times) because the Throne itself accepted him in this last moment, as a worthy king

He was at his weakest state, but strangely enough he has never been so powerful like this moment in his life

viserys face rotting away to bone on the side where the hightowers sit and his good eye on the side where rhaenyra and daemon and their family sit, delicious symbolism.

Im wondering.... the king has the power to legitimize bastards, right? So when Viserys more than once that the strong boys :)lol:) are legit; shouldn’t that just make it so? ...and they're just as much targaryen as viserys' sons, with just as much valerian blood...

It's all about the outmoded system that they live under that is why rheneys being called the queen that never was is significant. She had a better claim than viserys but the common folk would not accept a woman ruling over them.

Blood lines have more weight or rights when they are passed father to son rather then mother to son. That is why Ned had to pretend Jon was his bastard rather than his nephew (well a lesser reason.)

But to answer your main question about viserys legitimizing rhenara's sons... There was no need due to the fact that laenor(sp) CLAIMED THEM AS HIS OWN!!!

No matter what people said or whispered as long as he maintained that they were his that was all that mattered.
