How come blacks don't like hockey?

I guess I'm different. I started playing roller hockey because you could check people into the boards. After I started to play on ice. I began to see it was much more involved in it. I loved the skill and always having to stay on your toes in hockey.

but the LACK of cathartic feeling of scoring FREQUENTLY on an opponent is what I'm talking about as a possible reason for why hockey isn't popular with blacks today..

It was not just checking guys into the boards. It was the skill needed to shoot.Hockey teaches you discipline, courage, teamwork, desire and shows you how to win and lose with dignity.

Hockey humbles you as there is always someone better then you.
Hockey ignites you as there is always something new to learn and to experience. Hockey shows you what it’s like to dependent on others, as well as having them depend on you.


It is what I've learned from hockey. I've learned a lot from other sports.

the rangers have a habit of doing that. play well, and then just start relaxing like shit is gonna be a piece of cake. they did that during regular season. started off flying, and then halfway through the season they just started relaxing, chillin, like season was over. wtf.

if i had to choose, i'd say the bruins will take the east. although devils have been strong last half of regular season, i still feel boston is going to whack everybody in the east with ease. and this is coming from a rangers fan

Without going to deep, and I should have responded earlier to this thread, it is mostly socioeconomics. Anything where more than a ball has to be purchased, generally speaking, the less you will see of us. It is slowly changing but if it needs lessons, and on a consistent basis, you can forget it.

Now, I'm a big hockey fan myself, and I don't understand why blacks don't like hockey. Is it because it's not dominated by blacks, or it's too cold . I'm just curious...

Simple:

You change 1-letter and you go from Hockey to Honkey, that right there is what has most Blacks uncomfortable with Hockey.

Seriously though, the NHL has a terrible TV deal leading to poor exposure, secondly the Tickets are very over-priced due to the aforementioned crappy TV Deal.

When seen in PERSON Hockey is second to only the NFL in terms of pure excitement, it is much better in Person than the NBA could ever be, but most folks never see Hockey live and in Person so they never know how great of a Spectator Sport it really is.

The thing about people just thinking it's a white sport is true... BUT so is the cost part. I have two nephews who got into hockey while they were in high school, and my sister damn near had to get a second job to buy all their gear; plus for non-school ice time, that was even more money to be paid.

Me, I can't watch hockey, just like I can't watch soccer. I can watch some highlights of particularly good hits, or powerplays or whatever, but watching actual games for me is not so much boring... but like... fruitless. Too many times in hockey and soccer, the puck/ball is being hit back and forth between opposite teams, and this shit can go on for 20-30 minutes without any scoring. If that's watchable for you, then great... but for me it's a no go.

Now, before anyone opines about me being unwilling to give it a chance because white people play it or about me having a short attention span since I have to have scoring to watch a sport.... nah, it's not like that. In fact, in high school gym class, I had the most fun playing soccer and hockey (wood floor, using a ball... when it was raining outside we'd end up playing b-ball or hockey... white high school). I loved that shit.... so for me playing it is fun, but watching it is like slow suicide.

I can watch baseball if it's teams that I'm interested in, and it's a verrrry slow game. Can't watch a Royals vs. Rangers game... but Mets vs Phillys or Yankees vs. Red socks, I'm on it. ...but in baseball, the ball doesn't just get smacked around from team to team back and forth. Yeah, hitter hits it and the other team catches it, etc... but it's in all part of a play... not just fruitless back & forth. In B-ball the other team can steal or intercept passes, but for the most part, when a guy passes the ball, it goes to his teammate. Not so in soccer/hockey.
