How To Build A Home Theater - The Basics

Top 10 Home Theater Mistakes

I'm not sold on multiple subs and this is from someone who's had a powered sub connected to almost every speaker, at one time...I got em free so why not use em.

Bass isn't directional, so if your sub is set correctly, you can hear/feel it but not tell where its located. The idea of having several in a set up looks good...in the pic above, the theater has 2 large subs about 8 feet apart in front, but I can't imagine that would be necessary. If there's not one in the back, I'd switch it there instead.

I just got a 77" lg c1

that thing is AMAZING!

now i have to upgrade my receiver to support 120hz

which sucks because i just upgraded a few years ago to get ATMOS...

Bruh, I'm so outta the loop on new tech...I used to sell this stuff years ago, when it was a hobby, but haven't kept up with some of the latest gear...

Why would it be necessary to upgrade your receiver? You don't HAVE TO run the video signal through it. You could just run the audio out of the video source.

If the tv is already 4k or 1080p, does the receiver enhance the pic even more?

How much better is Atmos than regular Dolby digital? Isn't that just for overhead effects? How often is that even relevant in a movie?

Itsa 135in screen with a 7.3.4 atmos setup.(5.1 with 2 surrounds and 2 rear speakers 3 subs and 4 ceiling (atmos) speakers. 4k projector. Color chainging Led lighting strips set it off.

several reasons.. not even talking about picture quality.

i didn't spend all this money to have partial functionality...

you don't get all the on screen features from your receiver if you are not using your TV as a monitor.

you also don't get lossless audio because optical audio is compressed...AND my 77 inch LG C1 does not support DTS master audio. LG dropped support for DTS a few years ago. Can't use hdmi for sound either because I need eARC for full movie theater sound.. I only have ARC.

and it's just more convenient to run every thorough the receiver IMO.

hope that answers your question.

Perfectly, bro...sounds like you know your stuff.

Tech has gone bananas over the last 25 years or so…

When you have a theater like that, you ain't missing nothing by staying at home to watch a movie.

@TREES, great pics!
