What's your wife's opinion on all of this
Truth is the numbers are down in alot of shows, especially those that highlight diversity and POC, we have to support more what is put out there for us and alot of us simply don't.
These big corporations follow money, when it's not profitable it's cut unfortunately
Gop basically uses class to separate and the number of poor is greater than well off, they're fighting the long battle, not short term.
These educated sisters are simply looked up on fancy and uppity by alot of black folks also which isn't helping the cause.
Notice no riots, people hoe on twitter to bitch and log off, GOP is killing the game unfortunately they understand human nature very well as bad as it sounds.
Dudes watch more WWE than shows that are for us and tell our story, I know dudes who don't like the "black girl from the hood who got into college" shows, they hate it and they black ,we have to have some serious "real talk" conversations with each other.
When jessie helms was on his death bed. I use to transport patients from his nursing home (Morningside in Raleigh). I spoke to some sisters CNAs and they said his racist ass is depending on them to feed him and wipe his a**. I told them fuck him and they were like yeah, we only do the minimum with him. That kind of made me feel good.
My grandmother used to tell me the same thing happened to George Wallace(former Governor of Alabama). Ended up having black folks wait on him.
2 Questions:
1.) If the goal is to increase our wealth and influence in this country, what negative effect will an Affirmative Action Ban have?
2.) How can we reduce the influence of Affirmative Action on us?
I believe that we can be just as successful College admission and economic success as the Asians, Indians, and Africans if we prioritized it and tried to compete in it. We excell in everything that we truly commit to. We dominate every sport that interests us. We dominate entertainment despite racism. We really don’t need the extra help. If we raised our kids to compete in the classroom like we do other things, they would dominate just like we do in everything else.
I can’t tell you how many Bruthas I know who spend hours and money molding their sons athletic abilities. AAU, Football, Track, Soccer, Tennis etc practices plus Personal specialty coaches and camps. Imagine spending an additional 6 hours a week on school from Jr High thru High School. Imagine doing it with the goal of being Valedictorian and getting to a top college. This is how other groups are viewing education.

My wife is Pro affirmative action and pro reparations especially since the Japanese got money. She hates bananas as she calls them and hates white people.

Nigerians are the most successful immigrant group. Yeah, I know they are cream of the crop for the most part, but still got to put in work studying. They just don't show up.
Indians -- the brown people that no one will admit are brown when they say 'black and brown' -- dominate in medicine and tech. And no, they weren't even thought of when the model minority shit came out(which was originally based on Japanese people who are same skin color as Euros).
So yeah, examples are there of non-whites who ain't pale Asians killing it if they make education a priority. But the critically conscious are working the other way. They want standards obliterated or lowered because they don't even believe in anything but subjective narratives. Good luck with that shit.
And for the record, I'm not against AA, but it is what it is. Folks followed democrats and wanted all the high-end comp here who make education a priority and even pass whites. Now it's time to keep up. Like you said, it can be done, but it has to be a priority.

It was never about ability it was about access. The fact that black folks were as good as or better than others represented but couldn't get in. I don't think those who are counting on sports will have a big issue, but you can't out perform the others in the school, or show how you can excel, or dominate anything if you can't get admitted. That's why there were HBCU's in the first place, the PWI were not WILLING to educate black folks. Just like jobs were not WILLING to hire us. Banks were not WILLING to loan to us. Realtors in certain areas were not WILLING to sell to us.

Ive always known I had to be 2x better than any white boy in the classroom, at the internship, on the job. I have made sure I have been and its never stopped me. I went to college in Atlanta during the Iphone/App revolution over 10 years ago now and even in black ass atlanta I could count the number of black men in my classes on one hand. This was getting in front of an industry that was about to make a bunch of people millionaires. There were so few of us there it was a joke. When the greeks were strolling, or there was time for a party with some hoes, we were everywhere. If you dont think the same reality back then exists now you are blind. Too many guys just want to party, and then cry when the system designed to keep them down does so.

I'm not saying AA is the complete answer, but I am saying that telling a community that was denied having decent schools, denied having the GI Bill give your family a free education that then becomes family tradition, and has it's own cultural challenges it needs to overcome to just "prioritize education" is not a way out.
