Dont you find it ironic that bitch Mitch's argument is that you can't convict an official that is no longer in office........yet he is the one that insisted that they push the trial back to Febuary 9th............making sure that Trump wouldnt be in office by the time the trial started.
This shit was by design. hell if the GOP can rush thru the confirmation of a SCOTUS in a week, they could have started Trump's senate trial and got it done in a week before he left office.
smh.................just one big ass fuckin shit show.

Mitch's long ass speech right now is essentially: "Trump is definitely guilty but he's not POTUS now so no need to convict him and upset his supporters"

He literally just said Trump is CRIMINALLY liable. Let the courts convict him. Why do we have to do it???

Mitch gains nothing by voting guilty.
He already made it be known that if he can't gain from something he will vote against it.

But then you would miss this awful, long winded argument where critics can wonder if Mitch threw the president under the bus.

which is why they should have sent the articles over ASAP.

He said directly to the House while he was in charge not to bring that Article of impeachment. MF The only Republican I'll give any credit is Cassidy because he had nothing to gain except to offset Manchin & Sinema when he can get a bill passed.

Ok. So Dems didn't want to let Republicans to turn it into a "farce" by calling additional witnesses. I guess then why vote to request additional witnesses? Maybe just as a formality, but to include Rep. Bouebert's statement. I see the spin opportunities for Republicans. Smh.

US Senate acquits former president Trump over his role in the US Capitol riots

The US Senate voted 57-43 to acquit former president Donald Trump on Saturday, after he was charged with inciting the January 6 attack on the US Capitol building.

Trump released a statement welcoming the decision, saying his movement "has only just begun."

What you need to know

- The 57-43 vote was short of the two-thirds necessary for conviction -

Seven Republican senators joined Democrats in voting the former president as guilty

- Senators settled on admitting a witness statement from GOP Rep. Herrera Beutler into Trump's trial record instead of calling witnesses

- Beutler, who voted to impeach, detailed a phone call between former president Trump and House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy on January 6
