Another Rhino in the room... Marvel casted Florence Kasumba since Civil War. Gave her one of the best lines in Civil War. However in BP she was regulated to the background. What was up with that?

You are actually closer than you think. They ritually killed both of them with the flower. They then buried them (dirt/snow). They then raised them except in Killmongers case. He raised himself. Whoever wrote that whether in the comics or the movie knew something.

One thing I have heard is the the biggest secret of the Masons especially the European order of the Masons is that the "blacks are the superior human beings, but they must be kept from knowing that they are". In other words "the black man is God but he has to be kept from knowing he is."

Lupita and Danai need their own movie together and it does not have to be a BP movie. They have great chemistry and have done a lot to elevate the dark skin sistas who are often dissed(sadly by men who are their counterparts). I would love to see them in a black romance movie, it can be serious or comedy that addresses the colorism issue.

How can you hate Erik?

Pompous white chick:Yea I'm an expert on African art
Erik: What's that one?
*proceeds to keep asking
Erik: And that one?
Pompous white chick: gives the wrong answer
Erik: Nah that's Wakandan and it's made out of vibranium
Pompous white chick: Excuse me?
Erik: Yea how much?
Pompous white chick: What??
Erik : Oh yea I'm sure your ancestors paid a fair price for it huh? Got security following me the entire time I been here but not paying attention to what you put into your body

come on yall

See, I wanted just one quick scene like that for T'Challa just to let the audience know what time it is with him on an intellectual level.
That was a well written scene that showed that Erik was on another level.

Deepest theme of the film.

Killmonger became the hate that hate made. A Wakandan held captive by the western world. As his father said they will consider you “lost”

He experiences the subjugation, poverty, and injustices African people suffer daily in the US and knows there’s an unwilling nation that could help.

How many enslaved Africans wondered when are my countrymen coming for me? How much resentment was created and passed down generationally? Killmonger symbolizes that to a degree

Killmonger identifies with the legacy of American slavery because he grew up in the aftermath. He sees the “brave” slaves who leapt overboard as his ancestors ...more than the Wakandans who were safe unaffected and flourishing.

It was a clever insult to T’Challa and Wakanda also. It said I belong with people who fought for freedom not here in Wakanda with you people who chose to stay neutral in the face of injustice.

It cuts T’Challa so deeply it forces him to correct his fathers sins and give rebirth to Wakanda. Ending the isolation and assisting black Americans with their vast resources and advanced technologies.

Killmonger was the hero of the film.... he was the darkness that forced the light to come out of T’Challa and Wakanda

Is Killmonger what Obama becomes if he grows up in inner city?

BTW - Ryan Coogler is killing the game.

The biggest secret of masonry is that masonry is black. It started in the Nile valley. They want you to think it's European.

No doubt. The Prince Hall Order that came up in America after the European Order were really just reclaiming what was rightfully theirs to begin with. We know that the Euros did not come up with deep esoteric knowledge, their reference to civilization begins with Greco-Roman history. We know that the Greco-Romans sat at the feet of African masters.

my sister I do NOT want to start no mess

BUT

I noticed in the theater I was in at least

No Black men brought white women but Black women brought white men

and asked for pictures with my daughter but never included their white date.

thoughts?
and funny thing? They were holding hands on the way on but damn well weren't on the way out

I saw the movie in a white suburb outside of my city in North Carolina... but I was surprised to see so many white people and families watching the movie alongside me.

I only saw same race couples. I imagine black men would NOT be so emboldened to bring their white women to the theaters, UNLESS their white women were raising black/mixed children. Then, their white mommas would bring their kids to see the importance and beauty of seeing black people, black royalty reflected on the screen.

Interesting, though, because I always thought NC was the hotbed of interracial couples - I mean, I see them ALL THE DAMN TIME but not at this movie lol

No. I'm explaining why he did those actions I quoted. Yeah he's a villain, but he had a reason for doing everything he did

Correct. I feel they couldve expanded more on his aspect.

I understand what y'all saying but if a man kills innocent people, no matter what the motivation is. He is a villain.
He cannot be right. If he does it repeatedly, then he is evil.

Magneto is a villain. Let's be real about that.
Killmonger has a point but he is a villain.
Loki is a villain. (Remember he had a point too. He was lied to all his life).

One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter.

For all intent purposes he was the antagonist of the film so he would be depicted doing some things that our hero black panther wouldnt do. But he was suppose to be more than your run of the mill villain. Killmonger was just more willing to do what needed to be done to achieve his goals.

Killmoger couldnt ultimately be king tho because he had an axe to grind and that clouded his judgement.

I'm confused on why there is such an issue with Killmonger being a villain.

It was clear and expertly presented and executed.

A TRUE villain isn't cut and dry

and like @largebillsonlyplease said so well

a truly great villain can have a movie from HIS pint of view and be the hero.

Ya'll can't love Breaking Bad and feel any conflict about Killmonger.

He is SUPPOSED to make yo feel like that

but he was CLEARLY a villian

KILLING Black women by shooting them in the head and slashing their throats and ordering the death of innocent children aint HERO stuff.

Coogler made DAMN sure he IS a villain

but he isn't SIMPLY THAT

and that doesn't make him devoid of ANY morality and valid points.

And we can learn A WHOLE LOT from Killmonger

I do NOT want things made simple

and also EASY for these white folk to get

but at the same time this IS a marvel Disney superhero movie

we gots to chill...

and if anyone feels Coogler did a bad job on his portrayl of Killmonger

well after THIS movie?

NO ONE has any excuses any more

make your OWN.

If its GOOD and SMART and CREATIVE?

We WILL support you.

That highlighted part is the crux of the problem for me about the Killmonger development. His character had the potential to surpass what Heath Ledgers joker did but because it was a Marvel Disney production they toned it down. His character didnt get to spread his wings sort of speak he was limited and depicted half assed. But dont get me wrong Coogler still did a good job with him and I still like the character but I can still see how they had to simplify him in order to make him your typical villain.

PH I was observing the mixed up couples in our theatre too and I wondered how they would discuss this movie after because all the gems that they kept dropping. Not one white person could ever have a true understanding of the meaning behind those words so no real discussion could be had. Where I live there are many mixed couples and I always wonder about that. My husband was sitting next to a white dude and he said he wanted to knock him out at one point because when they were in the throne room and they showed the guy with the lip plate he said the dude started laughing. :smh: You are better than I am because I would have told those chicks hell no to taking photos with my child. Them not including the dude with them speaks volumes.:rolleyes2:

@Mello Mello Bro...a film series could be made off Killmonger alone. The brother graduated from undergrad early, went to MIT to study what...we don’t know. Joins the navy and became a SEAL and then even deeper clandestine groups to become a super fucking spy. He’s the closes thing to a male Black Widow that Marvel has put on camera.

T’Challa and Killmonger are the classic troupe of light and dark BUT the dark side having a twisted way of bringing righteousness to the world.

I hear your frustration

but you can't place that on Marvel disney or coogler or Jordan

that is society fault..THEY can't handle that...never have..

And to be truly iconic?

Erick has to have shades.

the REASON you have emotion and make a connection

is because YOU are filling in the space left for you be brilliant acting directing and production.

If he went too far?

you and the audience couldn't sympathize him cause now you just alienating.

there is enough there for him to be a monster

but you understand WHY he is a monster

No to justify it but to UNDERSTAND.

This is something WE need to do with our OWN people.

to UNDERSTAND why we are like we are..

and to do BETTER

PLEASE

lets not do some grade school Malcolm vs Martin thing with these characters.

and OVER SIMPLIFY their reasons for urgency

it is MUCH more complex then that.

T'Challa isn't boring a simp or a punk or a boy scout

Erik is not a gangsta whitey hating killer

they ALL much more nuanced then that.

You can have a favorite...

but we don't need to down ONE to big up the other.

EACH ONE was right to a degree...

and as much as we love Killmonger...

he was a murderer

and killed black women and children and his own people.

SO lets not get this f*cked up.

Camille I don't like going to the movies either I made an exception for this one and I am very glad I did. I travel with purrell in my pockets and although I am not big on the crowds either, but if my son who is autistic can tolerate the crowd and the noise then I have no excuse. lol so I just suck it up and made myself go and watch. lol
No. I'm scared of critters and I don't like crowds anyway.

I'm scared of critters. A coworker had me talked into going once, and that very same week, the very same theater had a write up in the paper about how they had just gotten rid of a bedbug infestation. I know a sign when I see one. I'll buy the DVD, in fact I'll probably buy more than one because I want at least one unopened.
