@Mello Mello Bro...a film series could be made off Killmonger alone. The brother graduated from undergrad early, went to MIT to study what...we don’t know. Joins the navy and became a SEAL and then even deeper clandestine groups to become a super fucking spy. He’s the closes thing to a male Black Widow that Marvel has put on camera.
T’Challa and Killmonger are the classic troupe of light and dark BUT the dark side having a twisted way of bringing righteousness to the world.
So much more couldve been done with this character in future Black Panther movies in the MCU.
Maybe we will see him again, because in the comic he was killed and brought back to life, so ill hold out hope this happens later on.
Or maybe Thanos does something and brings him back in Infinity Wars. Point is we all feel the same way about his characater coming back.
I hear your frustration
but you can't place that on Marvel disney or coogler or Jordan
that is society fault..THEY can't handle that...never have..
And to be truly iconic?
Erick has to have shades.
the REASON you have emotion and make a connection
is because YOU are filling in the space left for you be brilliant acting directing and production.
If he went too far?
you and the audience couldn't sympathize him cause now you just alienating.
there is enough there for him to be a monster
but you understand WHY he is a monster
No to justify it but to UNDERSTAND.
This is something WE need to do with our OWN people.
to UNDERSTAND why we are like we are..
and to do BETTER
I see a lot of that in this thread filling in the blanks. Some of it was there some wasnt but I see how people feel about it.
Society can handle it, may not want to (especially in this pc climate) but they can and Marvel is the perfect platform to do it, Coogler did well bringing in this commentary across cultures.
Movies, movie characters are suppose to CHALLENGE, thats the whole point, thats what makes us feel those emotions. Takes you out your comfort zone.
And your right theres enough there to understand he’s a monster, but thats it. Marvel falls back on its typicall classic doppelgänger trope representing the worst of the hero in Killmonger.
Marvel has a history of having weak ass villians and outside of Loki, Killmonger is a good 2nd spot for me (maybe 3rd once Infinity War drops) even tho they still slacked on him too. So yes I do blame Marvel, Disney, Coogler and the writers of BP. Once again lack of screen time eats away chances of establishing a great villian.
But the fact Killmongers character stands out, tells me a lot about Michael B Jordans ability as an actor, and Coogler as a director. Despite Marvel falling back on its typical “evil version of the super hero” trope and cliches he was able to elevate the role to the point where I don't think most in here recognize thats what marvel did. Difference here is Killmonger whoops ass and proves he can become the black panther lol
