I think you still conflate many different issues.... and lump them all together into one single argument.

I give Black Panther about a 9.3 /or an A-

Overall, I think the Black Panther & Winter Soldier are the 2 BEST movies that Marvel has ever made, so far.

That's true I am conflating. And eah that winter soldier bruh.. That and the Dark Knight with Heath Ledger Joker are just well put together entertaining films.

Yep.
I think dudes are missing the point of your post.
They're comparing the motivations & goals of the villains, without fully embracing what drives them.
Both The Vulture & Killmonger are equally fun & extremely relatable villains and they both represent Marvel's new focus on better fleshed out Phase IV villains/antiheroes.
- The ultimate goal of Killmonger was to free the oppressed Black people of the world by arming them with superior technology and weapons capable of destroying their oppressors everywhere across the globe. And for Wakanda to essentially take over.
- The ultimate goal of The Vulture was no less important than that of Killmonger. He wasn't solely motivated by the acquisition of wealth and power, but it was something FAR MORE primal, basic and relatable on a smaller scale. It is the need for a husband & father to provide for, to keep safe and to protect his family. (Who are both Black, by the way).;)

Bottmline:
If these two men didn't to kill people, and had they made their struggles public, I feel there is NO DOUBT they could've/would've been seen in a more sympathetic light and supported by society at large. :dunno:

EXACTLY, my point being is that what motivated these villains is far more complex than say whatever the hell was going on in Thor 2. It's not just the standard quest for world domination just for the sake of it. Hopefully this carries on into Infinity War.

My thoughts on BP – Colin warning for all you ignorant ass no reading bastards!!

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Period point blank. My issues with the movies is this:

1. I believe that T'Challa was way Incredibly fierce, hard as hell and more focused in Captain America Civil War. I love how they introduce him and gave you a taste of what he was about which was straight up ass kicking!!! He held his own against everyone! And gave zero fucks about what the rest of the avengers had going on.

2. I loved how they showed an advanced Africa, its beautiful landscape, people and quality of life without any apologies!! We need more of that shit onscreen!!!

3. I loved how they showed black women as fierce, beautiful, smart and uncompromising. Did you notice, not a single woman needed to be rescued or was waiting for any of the men to define who they were!! That shit was nice as fuck to see. We need more of that shit also. The head general needs her own story. She was about her business.

With that said, this is what I didn't like about the movie Black Panther

1. In Captain America Civil War (CACW) how did T'Challa get the BP power and strength? In the Movie BP which takes place shortly afterwards, they show him becoming the king and receiving the power of the BP, via a special potion and some other ritualist moves, yet in CACW he was already the black panther without having to drink the special potion or go through the ritual. Did I miss something?

2. In a straight up 1 on 1 fight without any special powers, he got his ass handed to him by Killmonger. So IMHO, BP wasn't really about that business without the special powers. He was strong but could & did easily get beat by someone simply stronger than him. Killmonger was fueled by pure hate, skills and wanted that #1 spot at any & all cost. Yet, despite T-challa kicking straight up ass in CACW, he got his ass kicked badly by killmonger. What’s up with that?

3. T-challa only beat Killmonger when they both had the BP power. Granted both their powers were in and out during the fight scene but somehow BP gets the best of Killmonger at the most opportune time, yet couldn't beat Killmonger without the power. Not going for that shit.

4. Killmonger died to quickly!!! For all that hate, rage, cunningness and desire, he went out way to quick. Remember he spent his whole life for his shot and lost it relatively quick. I'm not buying it. Like they gave Bucky a chance to live, I'm not buying Killmonger would rather be dead than to learn more about his people and perhaps live another day to try again to get that number one spot.

For me, the mountaintop was Winter Soldier. Everything else was debatable, but Winter Soldier was Marvel's best movie...

Up until now.

I need to go back and rewatch winter soldier...I barely remember it...a lot of ppl bill it as the top MCU flick or among them tho

“If you say another word I'll feed you to my children.....(laughs) we're actually vegetarians”

one of the best lines in the movie!

i was skeptical on how this movie could pull off Man Ape in 2018
they proved me wrong...he was one of the highlights of the flick and they didnt OD with the ape icongraphy

this is what happens when you got strong black voices producing black content
something that could be problematic gets handled correctly

when all these companies like H&M have some racially insenstive issue, my 1st response is that there isnt a person of color with power in place or the culture of the company doesnt allow them to have a voice

M’Baku and the Gorilla tribe was dope!
DUDE when ross tried to smooth talk him and all of them started chanting drowning his ass out that shit was brilliant!!!

The only way to not fall into colonialist CAC trap is to not let him say a damn word.

Assist.

Good point. But the Black Panther is the main "Protector of Wakanda"... And T'Chaka is already pretty old when CACW happens.
(He's definitely way too old to be STILL running around in a Panther Suit.... protecting his country. And fighting off Invaders & Colonizers.)

Safe to say, T'Chaka had already 'passed the mantle of the Black Panther' to T'Challa... awhile ago.

Especially if he didn't expect anyone to challenge him... since he assumed the biggest challenger to the throne (Killmonger) would never set foot in Wakanda, anytime soon. So, the 'official ceremony'.... was just a technicality.

Like a father who buys a new car for his son because he is graduating high school... but he gives it to him BEFORE he actually walks the aisle on Graduation Day.

Is this a 'plot hole'? :dunno: Maybe. Maybe not. It's debatable.
But if it is... it's just a small one,... that only requires a small amount of 'suspension of disbelief' to get past.

Killmonger had killed so many people..... his body was COVERED in the 'scars' that represented their deaths.
(it's like having one single 'tattoo tear' in Prison, for each person you ever killed behind bars.)

So Killmonger was a better much combatant than T'Challa... if you put them on a 'level playing field'.
That's part of the story arc that builds 'character development'.

Screenwriters usually call this.... "Overcoming Insurmountable Odds."

(Great Writers know that this is exactly what the fans / movie audience EXPECTS a 'Superhero' to do.... by the end of the story.)

3. T-challa only beat Killmonger when they both had the BP power. Granted both their powers were in and out during the fight scene but somehow BP gets the best of Killmonger at the most opportune time, yet couldn't beat Killmonger without the power. Not going for that shit.

T'Challa was 'way more focused' when he fought Killmonger the 2nd time.

Because he gained a BIGGER 'sense of purpose' after he met with his father, in the afterlife.
Now he is fighting for more than.... just being the King of Wakanda.

He realized that he HAD to stop Killmonger. And nobody ELSE could.
(Which is a part of his 'character development')

Every superhero has a 'wake up call' moment.
When they 'have to dig deep' because they realize.... it's all up to them.

The same moment happens in Spiderman: Homecoming... when Vulture collapses a building on Peter Parker.
That's when he 'digs deep'... and TRULY becomes... Spider-Man.

Similarly, after T'Challa speaks with his father (in the afterlife)... is when he TRULY becomes The Black Panther.
Now it is time for him to... 'overcome his insurmountable odds'.

Nah... I disagree. Killmonger didn't die too quickly. :smh:
He opened a hot can of 'whup-ass' on T'challa ... before THROWING him off a Cliff (literally).

giphy.gif

T'Challa had to come back from a COMA (literally).. in order to finally beat him. :D:rolleyes:

Just got back, this was a really good movie, well directed, well written all the performances were top notch. I saw some reviews say there were some pacing issues but I didn't see any, I thought the movie moved along really well. The only issues I had the CGI in some scenes wasn't up to par especially in the final battle in the Vibranium mine and I thought the musical score was lacking, it didn't quite capture the essence of the movie for me and it could have used a bit more action, I wanted to see more BP in action.

Standout characters

Shuri, so brilliant to be so young , she stole every scene she was in and she had the best line in the movie..." another broken whiteboy for us to fix"

Okoye, fierce warrior and loyal to her king no matter who was in the throne. She was ready to kill her boyfriend for to protect T'challa.

Nakia, for her love and loyalty to T'challa and she whooped ass too.

Killmonger, although cold blooded you could sympathize with him, had me almost shed a tear at the end.

I wanted to see more of Ayo but she was hardly in the movie. After her classic line "Move or you will be moved" in Civil War I wanted to see her whoop some ass.

Final score 9/10

Before the M'Baku fight he said no suit, no herb.

When he fought M'Baku they gave him the potion to depower him to make it an even fight then gave him the heart shaped herb after defeating him. So I'm pretty sure that he had been the Black Panther before the events of Civil War but wasn' crowned king yet to connect to the previous panthers.

Before the Killmonger fight they depowered him again.
