Keep in mind all those projects flopped not because they movies were female lead but because they were just bad period.
EXACTLY. The reason they were bad is because of how the writers were allowed to write them. This is what happens when feminists are allowed in the writers' room.
Everything they touch is shit because their general perspective of life is flawed.
What was Disney's response? Blame the audience. No responsibility accepted.
All of those characters have great stories in Marvel comics. Hollywood execs are so concerned with pandering in its lowest form that they fail to allow those stories to be told unencumbered.
People don't have superhero fatigue; they have shit story fatigue.
Viewers can't wait for the next season of The Boys to drop.

I'm black, so YES, I complained a lot. People with "my viewpoint" are what got characters of color greenlit in the first place. Representation is a low bar to set.
Just showing up and being black is not enough.
Its insulting to a reader to Mary Sue a character.
Most comic readers don't hate a character for their race or sex. They hate a character with no struggle. This is exactly why the last Star Wars movies failed miserably.

Disney's formula is come up with a female, make her pretty, make her sad about something. Fix the sadness. The end. This does not work for comic book readers and comic book readers are who support (buy merch) from these movies. Casual moviegoers don't by posters, action figures, t-shirts and hats, etc. Disney has just been selling to primarily women and girls for so long that they didn't expect pushback when they tried to use the same formula on things that are primarily male.
The comics will always be there but even Disney is starting to learn what failure looks like.
Madame Web is done and its not even out yet.
The Marvels crashed and burned.
She-Hulk flopped.
Black Widow was 10 years too late but could have been a success. Why? Natasha Romanoff struggled. Still, Disney learned nothing. The writers at Marvel have already written great characters of all colors, both male and female. The problem is Disney and their leadership. They could care less about the stories. That's the problem.

Barbie was a huge success for Disney because it probably saved their asses in merch sales. The worst thing to happen to Marvel was Disney's acquisition of it.
Disney is good at selling to females. Insert girl. Make her unassumingly pretty. Make her smart and/or strong. Make her sing. She outsmarts/defeats her enemies. She wins the day. Happily ever after, blah. blah, blah.
That shit doesn't fly with comic book fans.
If it's just about the stories, why do you spend so much time complaining about ONLY female and non white characters?

The biggest writing fail in MCU history was making Thor Odinson a buffoon. 1000 times worse than any female character they wrote. A million times worse than the Endgame scene that is still triggering you guys today.

Yet you never point to that and say how they are forcing bad white characters on us...

The three lowest grossing movies in MCU history are the Marvels (which you guys always point out), The Incredible Hulk and Captain America the First Avenger (which you NEVER point out.) So are comic book fans telling Disney they don't want all these white men only hero movies?

I mean, insert man, make him smart or strong, He outsmarts/defeats his enemies. He wins the day. Happily ever after, blah, blah, blah. You just described basic story structure and called it feminism if the protagonist is female.

Insert Peter Parker. Make him smart AND strong. He outsmarts/defeats his enemies. He wins the day.
Insert Tony Stark. Make him smart AND strong. He outsmarts/defeats his enemies. He wins the day.
Insert Bruce Wayne. Make him smart. He outsmarts/defeats his enemies. He wins the day.
Insert Kal El. Make him strong. He outsmarts/defeats his enemies. He wins the day.
Insert Stephen Strange. Make him smart and strong. He outsmarts/defeats his enemies. He wins the day.

All these, I assume you are just fine with.

Then...

Insert Carol Danvers. Make her strong. She outsmarts/defeats her enemies. She wins the day.

Now that's the shit you don't like.

The MCU says that Tony Stark and Bruce Banner are the smartest men in the world.

Any comic book nerd knows Reed Richards is smarter than both of them. But none of you go on tirades about pandering and not following the source material. You just accept that the movies are different than the books and keep it moving.

But for the love of Vishnu and C'thun let them say a woman was the smartest person on Earth and there would be wailing and gnashing of teeth all over BGOL and Al Gore's interwebs for years...

Wait Morph was always non binary just based on his power...

Wouldn't Mystique and most metamorphs be that? Since many are born able to change into any gender? Mystique even got a woman pregnant.

and Morph was always Logan closest friend.

So you should had an issue DECADES ago.
It makes sense for Morph to be non-binary. Morph is a shapeshifter.
Wolverine on the other hand...
Being able to transform into a different person does not denote them as nonbinary. They are just shapeshifters, not non-binary.
They always defaulted back to their natural sexes and never identified as anything but shapeshifters. They issues was always based on the fact they were mutants with powers not sexual identify.

All I'm saying is these are fictional MUTANTS who can turn into basically anything and can and do f*ck anything.

the blue scaly looking b*tch got another woman pregnant and has a "son" who looks like a demon with an actual spiked tail and smells like farts when he teleports

What the f*ck are we doing here?

Calling them non binary shouldn't be such a stretch of logic.

We gotta chill.

I agree and somewhat concede, but the premise on which it's done feels like they are promoting an agenda.
I'll chill for now, but I'm tuning out if they have scenes of him and Logan doing drunk white guy buddy-buddy stuff.

I completely understand bro I get it.

But WE GOTTA chill

Like anything we give these corporations too much power and credit.

After a centuries of not giving a sh*t now they have to pretend to give a sh*t.

And we also have to be held accountable for NOT holding each other AND these corporations MORE accountable for years.

This is a children's cartoon used to make us buy sh*t - but i also I understand what it evolved into. I love this stuff.

I hope they don't f*ck this up with all my heart. I want this to embrace everyone. And I want black white gay straight and every one in between to be able to feel seen and enjoy this.

But I also understand especially in today's climate that's hard as f*ck. And agenda pushing is just annoying (& insulting) at this point.

I can't pre complain for 4 weeks over a f*cking cartoon having too many imaginary creatures that don't have the magical powers names and colors I prefer.

I don't watch art to see "if they messed it up" I don't watch something JUST to complain. I don't pay to get angry.

I just don't watch.

I think THIS will be fine.

Sidebar...

Consider this. If these dudes yell I hate it for 4 weeks. Been corrected on important points but keep complaining. Would you TRUST their opinion anyway? Would they REALLY admit they were wrong if this series WAS good? Because if its nothing less than perfect they are going to want to be "right". Ain't that agenda pushing too?

That kind of helps their overall point. The reason Nightcrawler looks like a demon and teleports smell like farts is because his father was Azazel ( looks like a devil/demon too) before the recent change. That was after the original father he was given or at least the one I recall from the animated series.

I agree it's not a stretch, but is it necessary. being a shapeshifter doesn't or shouldn't have anything to do with how they identify. Characters bio get updated regularly and purest complain. While the answer is to simply to create new characters with these backgrounds and help resolve the inclusion issues, it wouldn't change anything for those who want to label everything woke. It's not the characters they have an issue with. It's the lifestyle being shown that they don't like.

These shows just like comics are an escape from the world..just a small temporary vacation from the bullshit. Bringing the bullshit into my escapism is very problematic. This is "X-Men 97" they wasn't doing that bs back in 97. Marvel just want an Ezra miller of their own without all the legal mishaps.

I get that.

But you make the point too there is no real canon with this this comic book stuff. Too many different editors writers artists have touched them. And stuff gets modernized revamped reset rebooted retconned all the time.

Even if Chris Clairmont came out and publicly stated Mystique was ALWAYS non binary, these dudes would STILL be mad.

The agenda stuff is real but we also have to take a deep breath and understand this is also all pretend. And we don't OWN this stuff.

We can choose not to invest or engage.

Or better yet create your own and actively support the stuff you claim to want and like

I wouldn't say there is no real canon. Going back to the Nightcrawler example. The change to make his father Azazel fits and makes sense on some level. I have no clue how the change was done, but it does seem more agenda based verses something done purely for the sake of the story. Let's remove the people who we know are racist or whatever. There are those who have invested years in these worlds fictional or not. I don't think most have an issue with change as long as it makes sense to the story. I'd hope the more outspoken internet voices that complain for other reasons are really a minority.

My step mother tried to get me to buy Milestone comics. I was mainly interested in X-men related titles. It's not as easy to build a brand and have people support it. Unfortunately for Milestone, Marvel had the X-men animated series to help market their comics to kids in the 90s. I can't even recall if Milestone was sold at the shop I normally went to. My boy who really put me on to comics also mainly read X-men. We didn't care about the characters being Black like my step mother. Influence is a major factor in works of fiction especially as a kid. As an adult, you should be able to do exactly what you say and move on, but for hardcore fans who have been following since they were kids it's not as simple as that. It's a part of their identity. They treat it more like real history than fiction.

I was Milestone heavy I worked in comic shops and sold at conventions. Got to interact with some of the staff. Very very important and impactful that really inspired an entire new generation of writers and artists of color and LGBT WAY BEFORE this so called woke stuff.

You should watch the Milestone documentary to learn the real. Cause the x men animated series ain't hurt them.

Dudes in here going on and on about "agendas", and don't even realize that the comics ALWAYS pandered and ALWAYS had an agenda. They just pandered to white males. And the agenda was that white males would always be the most powerful. Always be the smartest. Always be the most heroic. Always save the day.

Now imagine being Black and not only pining for the days of the white only agenda but fighting to defend and keep it...

I saw the the Milestone doc. My point is were their characters on the same level as Marvel or DC to the average consumer/ target audience? Did they have the same mainstream reach to be a true competitor? As a kid, being Black wasn't enough and I cared about who the writers were even less. I'm not saying they didn't have an audience. Only that gaining a mainstream audience with devoted fans isn't an easy task. The fact that they were bought by DC kind of proves my point. We haven't even gotten a Static Shock movie or any of their characters as much of featured in a movie that I recall.

When the Wildcats and Savage Dragon series came out, I bought a few of the Images titles. All I'm saying is marketing and influence from your peer group are larger factors than race especially as a kid. Again, going back to the shops i easily recall Images comic being on display. By the time Static Shock comes out, I'm kind of out of my comic book phase so I can't speak to if the series help the comic. Even then, I don't recall the other Milestone characters making regularly appearances in the show and it was definitely under the DC banner at that point.the average consumer likely never knew about Milestone enlarge and just thought Static was a new DC character or a WB cartoon character in general.

I never thought about until now, but is Spawn the largest Black comic character? If so, it's probably because his face was disfigured and he wears a mask, so it helps with acceptance from White audiences.

I'm with you, but you've clearly been in the world of comics more than I have so you know how ridiculous fans can be. Even knowing the intended message, white fans may not relate to the issue of discrimination like we would as Black people. To them the focus is on the powers. Otherwise discrimination is just a fictional thing like the powers and fighting robots. They don't necessarily relate Black people to the plight of the mutants they been told to love since childhood.

Disney DID NOT "announce" Ironman in 2008.
They had absolutely nothing to do with that film nor The Incredible Hulk.
- Paramount Studios produced the 1st Ironman film.

Fact of business, Disney didn't acquire Marvel until they produced the 1st Avengers film in 2012... :dunno:

You're nitpicking. He's wrong about Disney's involvement, but no one thought Ironman would be a hit and jump start the MCU. Before the MCU, Ironman was B list ( maybe C) compared to the other properties Marvel couldn't use like FF, Spiderman and X-men. Robert Downey Jr wasn't really respected due to his issues during that time, so having him as the lead likely didn't help.

Because The X-Men aren't an unknown IP.
They have a long history of being both successful and unsuccessful in the public eye.
This is about Disney once again, putting their "stank" on a popular franchise.

Just ask Bob Iger:

His point was no one believed Ironman would be a success and you choose to focus on minor incorrect statement so that you could be right. You never even addressed the overall message. That's nitpicking. You continue to do the same when it's clear I'm not concerned about when Disney took over Marvel.

Doing that doesn't help your argument about Marvel or woke culture hurting entertainment. From the tone of the responses to you, people don't believe you care about the integrity of the characters as is. Assuming you are being serious, why deflect instead of focusing on the key point.
