Watched this on MAX last night.

This is the classic John Ford western that pretty much actor John Wayne on the map.

Simple plot that mainly focuses on the passengers on the Stagecoach trying to get thru Apache country.

There is one scene that will have you bustin’ out laughter, it deals with the Banker when he does his rant inside the stagecoach. Listen fully to his rant.

The only action sequence is at the end when the Apache’s catch up with the stagecoach. What is so amazing watching it is it’s all real with stuntmen. No CGI, models or anything went into making the scene. No way in hell will Hollywood do a scene like this, even with Tom Cruise crazy Ass’.

Lots of stereotypical imagery and language with Native Americans and Mexicans, that should not be a surprise for the time period it was made.

MAX has a remastered clean copy.

Synopsis

John Ford's landmark Western revolves around an assorted group of colorful passengers aboard the Overland stagecoach bound for Lordsburg, New Mexico, in the 1880s. An alcoholic philosophizer (Thomas Mitchell), a lady of ill repute (Claire Trevor) and a timid liquor salesman (Donald Meek) are among the motley crew of travelers who must contend with an escaped outlaw, the Ringo Kid (John Wayne), and the ever-present threat of an Apache attack as they make their way across the Wild West.

Checked out Reign Over Me the other day. Had meant to watch it many years ago, but just never got around to it.

It was OK. I think I would have preferred it if the film had been darker, and explored more of the sadness and PTSD from Sandler after experiencing major losses in his life. You also had to suspend your disbelief at Cheadle and Sandler spending so much time together again after reconnecting after losing touch some 15 - 20 years prior as college roommates. It would have worked better showing more of Cheadle with his family, and Sandler solo at his apartment.

The film worked best in the small moments such as the conversation at the Chinese restaurant, or Sandler briefly talking with his former in-laws. Or Judge Donald Sutherland talking to the lawyers about the situation with Charlie, etc.

It lost me with some of Sandler's outbursts as he typically goes to that whiny voice which sounds like an SNL comedy sketch with him trying to be dramatic.

This is the sequel to the cult classic “Westworld” I watched tonight on tubi.

I had last seen this flick back in the 80s on TV and had planned on watching it before HBO’s “Westworld” series debuted.

The film picks up 2 years after the first. I could tell the series went more in-depth on what this film tried to do and failed.

Not much to talk about cuz basically nothing really happens for the 2 hours this run.

The film plays out like a 2 hour episode of a 70’s TV Crime Drama like “McClintok” or “Barnaby Jones”.

For the Thirsty, Blythe Danner (Gwyneth Paltrow’s mom) co-stars, that woman was a serious piece of Ass back in the day.

It’s a snooze fest, watch if you just curious or pass cuz you ain’t missing nothing.

Synopsis

Two years removed from a scandal that cost several lives, the Delos company has spent billions on safety updates and revamping their resort, Futureworld. Reporters Chuck Browning (Peter Fonda) and Tracy Ballard (Blythe Danner) are sent to cover the reopening, but an insider leads the pair to believe the attraction is not what it seems. Feigning interest with Delos head Dr. Duffy (Arthur Hill), they try to get to the bottom of his nefarious agenda, which involves robots and human cloning.

I watched this last night on tubi, it had come up in my recommendations after watching a prior film.

This is basically an extremely low budget hood movie. If you have seen any 90s hood movie starring 90s era hip hop artist, then you seen this.

The film starts off oddly along with the fact it has the most shitty editing I have seen in a movie. They must have gotten some NYU film student to handle the editing to save money.

Acting is terrible, only the main star and two supporting actors who are well known do a decent job.

The first 20 minutes, I was close to giving up but decided to stick it out. The story did kick up in pace around the 45 minute mark and held my interest. Editing improved at this point for some odd reason and the film concluded with a ok, but not too impressive ending.

Watch out of curiosity, otherwise pass. This is one of those films couples would go to the theater not to watch, but make out.

Synopsis

A struggling black filmmaker tries to have his big break by making a movie with an all-black cast. To make it he's forced to borrow money from the Mafia. Complications quickly arise.

I watched this one this afternoon on MAX.

Alexandra Pelosi (Rep. Nancy Pelosi daughter) did a pretty good job showing how idiotic these MAGA Minions are in their own words. Along with showing how they all seem to suffer from sort of mental illness. She also follows up on their responses and cuts them no slack putting them on the spot.

A lot of unseen footage from the rioters and from the Capitol cameras are shown in the documentary.

The people in in it come from all walks of life and economic backgrounds. There is an openly gay man who took part in the Jan 6 riot cuz it seemed cool and got sentenced. An ex-pornstar who went to Jan 6 to impress a ex-prostitute girlfriend, a White dude who voted for Obama, went to prison soon after and joined the Aryan Brotherhood for protection. A dude who grew up in special education and his batshit crazy sister. There are others in the documentary.

Documentary filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi witnessed the events of January 6, 2021, unfold from inside the U.S. Capitol. In The Insurrectionist Next Door, she talks to several people who stormed the building that day about what brought them to Washington, D.C., and whether their views have shifted since. Through open and unfiltered conversations, Pelosi seeks a better understanding of the cultural and political views polarizing our country.

The Marvels

It's obvious they edited a lot of stuff out. To the point the story sucks. It throws you in like you know what's going on, then later it tells you what's going on. Once again Marvel has a poorly developed villain. I don't know their powers. Hell, I still don't know Captain Marvel's powers. I thought she was supposed to be one of the most powerful beings, but I'm always confused watching her fight.

It's one scene that's so to of place and bad. I was wondering what the fuck movie I was in. That was some DC shit.

Kamala Kahn was the only good part of it really.

Brie Larson is still a nothing as Captain Marvel.

This horror/thriller came up in my tubi recommendations earlier this year that I saved and I finally got around to watch it last night.

The small clip that tubi plays and the description had me curious, along with the title. I went into it not expecting much and this film turned out better than I expected.

The opening scene will immediately suck you into the film with how they did it. This technique has been copied countless times since in the horror genre.

The premise is simple and story/character development is done thru-out the film without taking away from the pace, it’s intertwined with the film without doing the back/forth in time that you normally see in films like this.

The film looks spectacular visually. Every scene from start to finish will keep your eyes glued to the screen, I highly recommend watching it on a 4K UHD TV. The film has been restored in 4k and it looks like tubi has that version. I recommend not to watch it on a computer, laptop, tablet or phone, you will miss out.

Being the film is from England, with the subject matter it’s based on, only they could have put a film out like this back in 1960. No way this film would have gotten the green light in the US back then, it would not get approval until probably the mid-70s along with it being more graphic and hardcore.

I suspect England still had standards back then because there is no graphic violence or blood. You don’t even see a dead body. It’s all left to the imagination which actually works better when you watch it. Less is more works with this film.

I looked into it after watching it and it’s considered a cult classic and has been officially designated the first Slasher film that set the standard for all slasher films after. I never heard of it until it came up on tubi for me.

This is definitely a must see if you are a hardcore horror fan and love the genre.

Synopsis

Loner Mark Lewis (Carl Boehm) works at a film studio during the day and, at night, takes racy photographs of women. Also he's making a documentary on fear, which involves recording the reactions of victims as he murders them. He befriends Helen (Anna Massey), the daughter of the family living in the apartment below his, and he tells her vaguely about the movie he is making. She sneaks into Mark's apartment to watch it and is horrified by what she sees -- especially when Mark catches her.

Dream Scenario

Dream Drifter

PRAISE : Nicolas Cage is great as an everyday joe college professor that hundreds to thousands of people are suddenly dreaming about.
One of the best things about the movie is its display of suddenly being famous and how it effects a person's life. All of the exhilarating and fun things about it but also it's dark sides and how anonymity fades away. Even at the start of his sudden fame you can see his wife Janet (quiet but good performance from Julianne Nicholson) start to chafe at it especially when it involves an ex girlfriend.
Michael Cera is very funny in a scene as a marketing mogul. I can just see Cage in my minds eye complimenting Cera and saying: that's exactly how I would have played it.
The movie doesn't hold back on how fame can lead a person down paths they would have never considered before.
How some turns in the story play out are haunting and reflective of situations celebrities have found themselves in as of late.

PROBLEMS: Even though some of the scenes towards the end of the film are funny, most of it is repetitive as if Director and writer Kristoffer Borgli is wondering if the viewer has gotten the point. I know I did far before the movies last twenty minutes.

Thanksgiving

Thanks for Originality

PRAISE: I remember laughing so hard and being disturbed by the mock Thanksgiving trailer in 2007's Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino cult classic film Grindhouse. Sixteen years later a real Thanksgiving horror flick has finally hit the big screen. Director Eli Roth has assembled a pretty good cast including Patrick Dempsey, Karen Cliche, Gabriel Davenport, Tomaso Sanelli, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Milo Manheim, Gina Gershon and Rick Hoffman. It's the usual fodder of jocks, cheerleaders, meatheads, love rivals and uncaring people.
I liked the immediate reminder of why I don't participate in anything that has to do with Black Friday madness in the standout opening scene of the movie.
Which was a good foundation and link to the carnage that was to come.
The first 45 minutes was a pretty good guessing game of who the Killer Carver was.
The kills were very inventive and blood soaked for the most part. I can tell Roth and writer Jeff Rendell are fans of slasher flicks like Massacre at Central High. They both come up with some gory original ideas and I was happy to see some of the insanity from the 2007 trailer was carried over into this movie.

PROBLEMS:Some of the acting is bad throughout the movie. Several characters vanish for long periods of time. Some of the practical effects look pretty bad. Especially in one scene in which a body looks like one of those science kit human body toys.
Once the movie hits the 45 minute mark I figured out who the Killer was. I pretty much knew who would make it to the end aside from one horror trope change up.

The Hunger Games The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

I liked it and it was better than I thought it was going to be, but I really liked parts of it. It's not much action. If you watched the others it will be a good watch. It gives background to how everything started and that was intriguing. The first two parts were better than the third.

Viola Davis killed it. There's some Star Wars in this.

I could have done without all the singing and the weird southern accent that sort of came and went. And homeboy from Euphoria is in it. I thought the ending was rushed.

If anyone was foolish enough I wanted to write this character for almost my whole life.
