Kevin Hart as an intellectual action hero? Nah. All the shit he talks in his comedy stand-ups about how cowardly he is took away from this movie's credibility. Moreover, the movie wasn't a comedy.

All in all, the movie is just a sub-par heist movie. Typical characters had typical roles, and did typical things. Kevin's role was kind of dry and uninspired.

The movie wasn't complete trash. But I'd only recommend it if you can't find shit else to watch. I'd generously grade it a C-.

watched it this past weekend

give it a 6.5/10
decent netflix/free movie

This the classic blaxploitation flick that is a must see. I watched it last night on tubi. It definitely has to be in the top 10 blaxploitation flicks from the era.

The film is a comedy, action flick. It’s full of bad acting, bad editing, poor continuity and fight sequences along with everything else that can make a film lousy.

But for some reason it all comes together and works for this film which makes it a classic piece of art.

It’s full of Rudy Ray talking shit which is what he is famous for. It’s full of classic quotes from him.

Eddie Murphy recently did a film on Netflix “My Name Is Dolemite” showing all the craziness Rudy Ray Moore had to do in trying to get the film made and distributed.

This is definitely a must see cult classic film if you have not seen it.

Synopsis

After he is released from jail after being wrongfully convicted, a pimp takes on the criminals and corrupt police officers who framed him with the help of some female karate experts and other warriors.

I watched this one last night before going to bed on tubi.

This is the film that basically kicked in the White teen runaway/streetwalker craze of the 1980s.

It was a sleeper hit that managed to stay in theaters for an extended period of time. It became a cult classic and kicked in 3 sequels. I first watched this film and two of the sequels on VHS while I was in the ARMY in the early 90s.

The film plays out like a ABC Afterschool Special with how it looks and is filmed, except there is graphic violence, language and nudity. The main character is barely shown actually street walking. The film mainly deals with how her activities on the street affect her personally.

For the Pervs, there is two scenes depicting White “Teenage” cheerleaders girls in the high school locker room. They are fully nude and you see hairy, bushy pussies.

For the Thirsty, the lead actress looks like the chick playing the new “Black Widow” in the MCU, actress Florence Pugh.

For the Gay Agenda trackers, there is a Tranny prostitute played by a well known WM actor from the era. There is a fight scene in the flick that actually plays out well with the Tranny hooker which is a high light of the film.

The film does a good job showing what Hollywood Blvd was like back in the 1980s.

If you do watch it, don’t go expecting nothing. I doubt I will watch the 3 sequel's anytime soon. They too are on tubi.

Synopsis

An honour student turns to prostitution so that she can pay the tuition at an exclusive California high school.

One of the Bald Move podcast cohosts said that this movie from the True Detective director is quite good ... I look forward to checking it out at some point in the next month or two.

Issa Laura López Lozano is a Mexican producer, writer and film director. Eleven Spanish language features have been produced from her scripts, four of them directed by herself. She has won several literary awards, including the National Novel Award granted by Mexico's Institute of Fine Arts and Literature in 2007.[1]

In 2017, Tigers Are Not Afraid (Vuelven in Spanish) premiered at Fantastic Fest, in Austin, Texas. Written and directed by López, the film received the Best Horror Director Award, and went on to collect fifty-one awards in film festivals around the world, three Diosas de Plata, including Best Picture and Best Director, and received ten Ariel Awards nominations, of which it won two. The film earned multiple positive reviews by major trades and critics, and a rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Currently, López is developing projects with Guillermo del Toro, Noah Hawley and Jason Blum. She directed and co-wrote all episodes of the fourth installment of HBO's TV series True Detective, which will air in January 2024, as True Detective: Night Country.

This was very good!

While sitting at a dock here in Industry, CA waiting to get loaded (mofos get paid by the hour, not by load so they will take their sweet time) I decided to check this out.

The last time I saw this classic horror thriller was probably back in the late 70s during a Halloween fest on network TV.

It’s a classic 70s era Gothic horror flick with the classic Bach musical number on organs.

It’s an anthology film with 5 stories that average around 15+ minutes each. The film is based on the classic pulp comics from the 50s/60s.

For the Thirsty, Joan Collins is in her prime in this film. She looks exactly like Australian porn Star Angela White. Hollywood dropped the ball on not casting her in more projects in the 60s/70s.

If you are a fan of classic 70s horror, this is a must see. tubi has a clean remastered copy.

Synopsis

When people in a tourist group get lost within ancient catacombs, they meet the sinister Crypt Keeper (Ralph Richardson), who tells them each their fate. The creepy figure's macabre stories involve Joanne Clayton (Joan Collins), a wife dabbling in murder, and Grymsdyke (Peter Cushing), a retired sanitation worker targeted by his suspicious neighbors. Among the other characters is adulterer Carl Maitland (Ian Hendry), who may face a fitting demise if the Crypt Keeper's yarns come true.

I just watched this one tonight on tubi.

The film is from Finland so it’s why you may never have heard of it. It has a number of well known American actors in it.

The film is basically a modern day version of 80s/90s action adventure thrillers like “Die Hard” and Steven Seagal films.

The VFX/SFX are done well. Like 80s/90s films, you can’t take it seriously with the action sequences because they aren’t believable.

It’s an entertaining family film to watch. The film is from Finland and subtitles are used when Finnish people speak their native language.

The film was left off for a possible sequel.

Synopsis

The U.S. president (Samuel L. Jackson) must rely on a 13-year-old boy (Onni Tommila) to get him out alive after Air Force One is shot down over Finland as part of a psychopath's plot to hunt and kill the POTUS.

This movie had no business being as entertaining as it was.

I know this is a common set up

But at this point I think it's more it's own "genre" and I enjoyed it for what it was.

Kaley and David had a very odd chemistry that worked well. But no sex scenes at all.

It was a good looking movie and well acted and kept a nice pace.

I would actually watch a sequel.

Loved it

Not sure if it's for everybody, because I was often laughing and others weren't.

One dude brought his busted snow bunny to this movie  Homeboy left randomly for about 15 minutes, so I was wondering if he was feeling uncomfortable. It's a scene or two about interracial relationships.

It's a satire and had some good writing, but it randomly get dark.

It's the best I've seen Issa in a movie, and Jeffrey Wright killed it in a comedic role. Sterling K Brown is really underrated as an actor.

I watched this last night. This is the original film the 2011 remake was based on.

The film immediately goes into SHTF mode within 5 minutes from the start. It’s explained later on why.

The film barely touches on those infected by the virus. The film is mainly focused on the ineptness and lack of concern the US Government has on the situation. The film does a good job moving fast pace showing the sense of urgency amongst the military and scientists on the scene along with the lack of support they receive from the US Government.

This is a film directed by George Romero who is brilliant on pointing out social/political issues in a subtle way. Racism is shown in a subtle way around the Black Colonel put in charge of the operation.

You also get to see the panic set in by the civilian populace and their reaction to the situation being they are not being informed on what is going on. What this film shows is pretty much the reaction a segment of American’s had reacted to the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020. There is a good chance that when this film debuted, audiences chuckled and thought “This Will Never Happen In This Country”.

This is also a good film to watch if you are a conspiracy theorist.

Synopsis

A military plane crashes near a small town, infecting the water supply with a deadly virus that causes insanity then death. The army moves in to control the situation, only for the civilians to treat them as invaders and then infect them as well.

New film uploaded to Netflix this past week. I watched it tonight while at home.

First, if you suffer from Movie ADHD, don’t bother watching this film.

Two, if you think this film is “Top Boy Part 2”, it ain’t so don’t bother watching this film.

The film is basically a depiction in the near future of the further divide between the rich and poor. It also deals with gentrification of pushing the poor out of their communities for future development along with the elimination of the Government Social Safety Net.

The people live under an authoritarian dystopian society, no information is given on the history leading up to the current story.

It’s a slow burn and depressing film and the story is focused on two characters. Not much is given on their history, the film is setup for the viewer to piece what they can with what they see of the characters.

There is no action sequences, shoot ‘em ups, fight scenes or big explosions.

Watch out of curiosity, if not curious don’t bother. They somewhat set it up for a possible sequel or series.

Synopsis

In a dystopian future London where all social housing has been eliminated, Izi and Benji fight to navigate the world as residents of The Kitchen, a community that refuses to abandon their home.

I watched this earlier tonight with my two sons on Hulu.

Not much to say being the premise has been done a number of times. The film deals with the advancement of Artificial Intelligence that has already been assimilated into human society before the film began.

The story runs at a good pace. Not much for suspense and what there is, it’s predictable.

VFX/SFX looked good and believable.

Overall, it’s an entertaining film that fits in the category of “Watch It Once, No Interest In Watching It Again”.

Synopsis

As a future war between the human race and artificial intelligence rages on, ex-special forces agent Joshua is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI. The Creator has developed a mysterious weapon that has the power to end the war and all of mankind. As Joshua and his team of elite operatives venture into enemy-occupied territory, they soon discover the world-ending weapon is actually an AI in the form of a young child.
