This was meh

Somewhere inside it's a good movie. It needed to be done by someone to take more risk. Seemed like they didn't want to go full satire. I would go and out between being entertained and being bored. You already offended the whites by the title and trailer, why pacify them with the movie?

It tuned into a love story for appeasement and lighten the tone.

Justice did impress me with his acting at times.

And the ending was like they cut something out to keep it at an hour and 30. Which is weird, because at one point they emphasis his knitting and I was like wtf. Out of the stuff you edit out, you leave these 10 seconds in?

This was a tax write off for a studio....

This was a first time director and writer iirc.....

So there is only so much "risk" he could take.

I can imagine there were notes on the script and only so far he could take this "trope."

The Accountant (2016) Ben Affleck is back on Netflix. If you haven't seen it, check it out. It is well worth the watch. It is one of Ben Affleck's best roles

Agreed. Enjoyed this one.

Funnily enough I was just talking to a friend last night and he was watching this one.

He's also been checking out 3 Body Problem and Tracker re: tv series.

Knox Goes Away... This shit looks good

Academy Award® nominee Michael Keaton directs and stars in this unpredictable thriller as John Knox, a hit man attempting to make amends before his recently discovered dementia takes over. Aided by a trusted friend (Academy Award® winner Al Pacino) with his own shady past, Knox races against the police — and his own rapidly deteriorating mind — to save his estranged son (James Marsden) from a vengeance-fueled mistake and “cash out” before it’s too late. Also starring Oscar® winners Ray McKinnon and Marcia Gay Harden.

The shit was amazing. I've seen it three times already. One day I played hooky from work and just left during the day to watch a showing. Good writing. The dialogue is just fucking beautiful. Both the things that are said and the things that aren't said.

Just a beautifully played out movie. The trailer didn't do it any justice. I mentioned this movie a couple Pages back when I saw it the first time

Is this movie still in theaters or is it streaming somewhere? I can’t seem to locate it.

It was in the theaters the week before Ghostbusters came out. It came in theaters on March 15th, but without much promotion I don't know if it's still in theaters. I just checked and it's not in theaters near me. Movies typically hit streaming about 45 days after they hit the theaters so late April early may maybe

This was pretty good. Mike Epps had me rolling. Snoop did great in this. He should do more films like this.

I enjoyed it too.

Really liked seeing the wide variety of pictures during the end credits ... photos of Snoop & the youth league teams from recent decades.

Movie had that modern-day spin on the Bad News Bears movies from the 70s or 80s with Walter Mathau, etc.

Thanks - I emailed my dad saying I would look to check it out with him in the future.

Prey

This is a strange movie and not because of the plot about a young couple who after being threatened with death by an extremist militant gang; after crashing their aircraft, they must battle man and beast for their lives.
but the decisions the writer and Director make. Starts off very dull and oddly a lot of action happens off screen. Only screaming and yelling are heard. I give it points for some good kills they actually show and some great unintentional laughs. Nice shots of the African plains.Mena Suvari has oddly only been in a few movies as of late for only about 10 to 15 minutes. One character suddenly switches up from my way or the highway to caring for no real reason at all. Definitely on my worst of 2024 list

Scale of 1 to 10 a 2½

Heart of the Hunter

This movie is definitely the Nigerian version of Jason Bourne but it definitely has its own thrilling, suspenseful, surprising moments and story paths with a plot about a retired assassin who is pulled back into action when his friend uncovers a dangerous conspiracy at the heart of the South African government. The actors turn in great performances. The action sequences are choreographed to a T,along with some great hand to hand fighting sequences.
The only flaws are some bad green screen shots, and it's a bit to on the nose and clichéd at times.

Scale of 1 to 10 an 8½

#Unfit: The Psychology of Donald Trump
2020

8/10

I watched this last night on the road.

This documentary debuted back in 2020, it covers Trump from his campaign announcement in 2015 to the Covid pandemic in 2020.

The opening scene with Michael Nance and a scene with Anthony Scaramucci at the 35min mark are the best scenes and sums up Trump perfectly without spoiling it.

A number of well known political pundits, psychologists and former Trump administration people speak thru-out the film.

This documentary is a must see and will leave you scratching your head on how this idiot managed to successfully become POTUS.

If you know anyone who at this time is still questioning if Trump is legit, have them watch this film and their questions will be answered.

Synopsis

Mental health professionals and medical doctors discuss the behaviour, psyche, and stability of President Donald Trump, as well as his effect on American culture.

The Bonnie Parker Story
1958

5/10

I watched this last night on the road.

It’s based on Bonnie Parker from the legendary “Bonnie & Clyde” robbers of the 1930s.

In the 1960s, the classic film starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway was primarily focused on both of them. This film is focused just on Bonnie.

Clyde is in the film, but for reasons I could not find out, they changed his name to “Guy Darrow”.

For the InCells, Bonnie makes a number of statements towards men in the film that you will find disturbing and offensive.

Synopsis

A cigar-chomping blonde (Dorothy Provine) goes on a 1930s crime spree after her husband (Richard Bakalyan) goes to prison for 175 years.
